Hey boss. Prelim intern here excitingly waiting for R1 year. Came across one of your reads while working awhile back. Pretty surreal because I’ve watched you for awhile, was awesome. Keep up the good work we all appreciate it.
Your videos have a very straight forward a informative. Teleradiology is obviously the future but I am concerned about eventually authorization to outsource out of state or even out of the country (looking fur cheaper rates). Any thoughts ? Of course AI remains a concern too but probably more of a tool than a straight up replacement. Outsourcing is what scares me. I can easily envision insurance companies lobbying to allies studies to read by the cheapest option
I am all for radiologist needing help. That is why I became a Radiologist Assistant. We are physician extenders who can perform all the fluoro and simple procedures while the Rads can fccus on reading and complex cases.
Ya I predominantly work from home now... but I still want to go in 1/3 of the time to "be a doc" and do a few procedures for now. Im only 2-3 years out of fellowship though. We'll see how that evolves.
Hi Dr Gaur, What advice would you have for someone starting the journey? I’m a first year med student in Australia (four year post grad course). I did my undergrad in radiography. Appreciate your videos 🙏
Hi Dr Gaur, When you look at the economic point of view, probably there isnt. But some things are also done just for the love of it. Like playing video games, celebrating your birthday. I am also a radiologist. I have practised teleradiology , as well as work in a Medical college. I love my work in the medical college, where I get to interact with other clinicians, discuss problems and find solutions. I get to teach as well. That makes life interesting, doesnt it? Human interaction, solving problems, talking to people , sharing a joke.
Hopefully more residencies go that way too for residents. The lectures, reading, signouts, teaching can all be done from home while increasing productivity. Imagine if residencies go from 8-5 M-F to 7-5 M-Th, and a 3 day weekend.
@@sarelgaurMD Perhaps you can voice this within your institution. Like you've said previously, there are too many inefficiencies in medicine, and all it takes is one "clean-up guy" to make a difference!
@@sarelgaurMD That's true. I'm interested in teleradiology and have followed your channel since my first year of medical school. Now I'm an R1. Is it true that teleradiology compensation is not as much as PP?
@@miket.8289 like everything else it depends. Per wrvu rates are better now and factored w/ an ER case mix, the loss of commuting waste, and the ability to live anywhere, I think it’s a better ‘deal’. But most people would rather spend 2 yrs time on a ‘partner track’ to learn this
You can read from abroad for a few select firms. Prelims are valid abroad as are non Medicare finals (to my knowledge). Generally it’s easier to reside in the states
Does On-site Radiologist have more regular/normal hours than Tele? I’ve heard as a tele rad you usually have to do odd and undesirable hours such as night or random shifts
I think that was true and still is. However now things have grown to where daytime remote positions are avail. Can also work evenings and take advantage of time zones in pacific and hawaii. Can work nights if can tolerate and hopefully get lot of time off
