It sounded as if his content was not as good as we expect it and that's why he either feels pressure or thinks his work isn't good enough. And he has been in RU-vid for around 13 years now. How does he only have 2M subs? This is definitely top tier quality content, but that phrase makes me feel bad...

Dam that line where he was like "The mythbusters had 13 years to do it before getting cancelled and I've only been around for..." Hes also been around for 13 years and the content gets better with each upload. Classic

Being subbed to CD is a never ending roller coaster of forgetting about his existence and getting super excited when he uploads.

The last words he said before his "time" ended were, "Ostriches run. They love to run." I hope my last words are as equally obscure.

This was the video saying “I’m done trying to do a video a month” and since, there’s only been a hand full of uploads. I totally understand too. I think a lot of resentment towards other RU-vidrs, especially near his subject, steams from how little they have to do to make multiple videos a week and still have a huge following, all while he is giving it his all just trying to compete with his OWN countdown. It’s a tough world out there. I’m glad he’s taking it easy on himself. I really respect this man.

Let's just take a minute to appreciate the theme of this video, of him continuously battling against deadlines for his videos which was stressing him out which is symbolized by the grey hair on his head and the countdown clock but in the end he learns that the deadlines he sets for himself are to unrealistic.Well done bro another incredible video.

What all those commenters laughing at the “start of the year” line haven’t noticed is that Captain D actually said “it’s the end of the year!” and he had to edit the audio afterward when he ironically missed that deadline to get the video out. You can see and hear it if you pay close attention. The reason for the deadline motif in this video was because he was trying to get the video out “on time” by the end of the year so he had to rush through the old backlog. But he actually missed that deadline so had to change the audio to say “start of the year”. And then the video still didn’t come out until April. Kinda drives home the whole point that the was making about self imposed deadlines.

I love how he always forms a story and manages to build a character arc, all while debunking videos and educating his audience. Truly there is a lot of work put into his videos and it's rare to see a creator that is consistently delivering high quality content.

I see Captain's hair turning grey, maybe he should take a break and let Alan do the debunking.

Well, after finally watching it I think I can see glimpses of why it took so long! Those were some incredibly intricate, detailed vfx shots towards the end. Also very cool to finally see the butt roto shot in context.

Have you guys realized that his hair becomes more and more gray the closer he gets to the deadline, but when it hits 0 his hair goes back to black? Neat

You can actually see the cd logo starting to rust a bit. Thats neat

Not many people can express the fear of not measuring up to expectations in such an entertaining yet sincere way. I come back to this video whenever I feel smothered by responsibilities and self-doubt for the reassurance. It's a message that is especially poignant in a post pandemic world, where death and the passage of time loom over everyone a bit closer than normal.

For those of you wondering, based on the audio queues, he reset the clock to 10.9 years, probably 11 based on that close of a decimal. The beeps count 100 days, but no special sound for each year. So if it beeps 40 times (approximate # of times it beeped) for each 100 days, that's 4,000 days. Divide by 365 and that's 10.9 years. Edit: You can see the days at 215 at the end, so it's 10 years, 215 days. Math checks out that he intended the timer to end at January 2031. (maybe January 2030 because it's a nice round number and I got the beep count wrong. Always allow for margins of error.)

I love how you casually just reinvented the whole "debunking" style of video by including a narrative and moral at the end, and didn't even go for a cheesy overly done moral, but instead a deep one that was sort of hard to tackle without the use of analogies, which your video just so happened to be a perfect analogy to represent and fluently transition into the moral at the end, but even the subtlety of your humor is incredible. I feel like you capitalize on every chance to make a mundane shot, funny. You even stack jokes on top of each other for a single scene, like when "Alan" is called in. Not only is captain D's actor his assistant, but the over the top reaction to getting shown appreciation, followed by captain d's dismissal. Add to all that what "alan" was wearing. Your show feels like you took the formula to a kids a show but adapted it to fit around your style of video, then instead of writing cheap jokes for kids you had written some really deep jokes and sprinkled in some cheap jokes to really throw everyone off

After 5 months of hiatus, Captain comes back swinging. What a legend,

Busted out laughing multiple times in this video. Absolutely LOVE the characterization of the captain. I also found myself do a double take multiple times from the VFX work. I didn't expect myself to verbally say "woah" while watching this video but I did! Amazing work as always.
