I went to Graphic Arts in 90 with mad Decepts and Rico Cons. I’m from uptown and Dyckman and them dudes embraced me and took care me like I was from BK. Miss them dudes and them days.

I remember going to Westinghouse HS in the early 90s and there were deceps everywhere in downtown Bk, on Fulton ave. I remember them running up on someone at Dr. J's. You couldnt get on the A or L trains without seeing them.

I remember going to boy scouts in 1990 summer of 5th grade. Our whole troop was from East NY BK. Some Decepts brought their own knives, not for wood works lol

I used to tell people going to Brooklyn Tech was no joke in the 80s just getting there and back home on the G train was crazy.

The Deceps were no joke. They met up with us on Halloween and literally it was the whole efn train every car I was trippin it was like fifteen of us lol For those who remember early 90's

I went to Printing in Steele and Teks graduating class. Other notables in our Graduating class is Sticky Fingaz from Onyx and Maxwell (R&B)....I remember Sticky wanted to be Decept really bad... But for some reason they wouldn't let him in.... during that era he called himself Tropical.....Starang Wondah and Half a Mil (RIP) also went there....I used to see Heltah Skeltah there sometimes..... they said the big homie Sean Price attended printing but I don't remember.... maybe before my time there.

in east Flatbush we had a lot of MGP (mean guy posse) kids who went to midwood hs who was also Deceps. The junction was crazy in those days. Getting chicken nuggets at mcdonalds could mean your life. e21st street and Newkirk was known as 21Jump street. We kept it live straight through the 90s.

I grew up in Crown Heights Bklyn on Franklin Ave and Union Street during the 1990's. Down the block from Prospect Heights and next building to BuckShot from Boot Camp Click. Decepts is apart of my history. In Jackie Robinson Jr. high we had baby constructicons. All of us on Franklin Ave was apart of that. But you had Autobots by Grand Army Plaza library that was jumping dudes as well. Then there was Franklin Avenue Posse that BuckShot always shouted out in his rhymes, PIC, TLB, Ebbets Field crew, AMW, BMW, Lo-Lifes, RatPack, TLR, Izod Posse, Steam Team, UK, Z-Team, Face Heads, A-Team, FPK, NA-Rock, Looney Tunes, GT Mob, FBS/Drednoks and more. Brooklyn had a lot going on but Decepts will always be part of Brooklyn gang history.

We grew up across the street from Cybertron. It was that and Park West in a 2 block radius.

William Drayton is 100% right. In NYC during the 80's run, there were identifiers as "Gangs" in the city that I heard of. The last of the NYC gangs was in the late 70's to VERY early 80's. Like he said, "Crews" was the mentioned thing in the streets. A crew could be 3 dudes to 300 dudes. What ever it was, it was your own thing. I never knew that the Deceps had different chapters that were identified by definition. I only knew them to be Deceps. I learned something new about them today. I know they were wild as hell. Dude mentioned Graphic Communication High School better known as Printing. That was the headquarters for Deceps. The school is located in Midtown Manhattan on the west side near the A train. The wildest dudes in Brooklyn rode that train. You had wild ass dudes from all over BK but the A?! It was known as Murder A back in the day. Then you had your Harlem/Bronx ppl that went to the same school and Queen ppl too. Rock of Heltah Skeltah was former Decep and told and crazy ass story about them back in the day. It was about his first arrest. He said he had nothing to do with what went down. It was a real ass Decep story. #NYNY

Yo this bring back memories, I remember attending I S 285 right next to Tilden back in the day, deceps were the real deal, BMW too. Freshman day and green leaf was on deck too, crazy memories.

Megaton was the craziest one out of all. I went to Graphic Communication in 1990- then transferred out in 1992 and went to Wingate. I couldn't do it.

I met a man ,forgot his name who talked about gangs with similar names as this. They were in Flatbush, newkirk Ave,Dorchester, ocean Ave .He told me they had symbols that looked like beetle eyes , shaping your fingers like beetle eyes to identify yourself as a gang member

I think, speaking from the lens of gang history, this is good information. If you are from NYC, especially from Brooklyn during this time, this made sense and this was our "gang culture". There has been a lot of criticism over the last couple of decades because NYC is now a hybrid gang city with a mix of Chicago BDs and GDs, and LA Blood and Crip gangs. Even Latin Kings, while well known in NYC, originated in Chicago. But Decepticons and Lo Lives are part of the last wave of original NYC street gangs. I knew a couple of Decepts and I remember my cousin was one and wanted to put me on, just never went through with it. But if we are talking gang history in the US and original NYC gangs, Decepticons are part of the last era of NYC gangs before gangs from other cities came to New York and took over. Other groups during this era were Zulu Nation and Netas. Zulu was technically not a gang, but for all intents and purposes if anything popped off and you were Zulu then you had the backing of them. Netas technically started in Puerto Rico but really made a name for themselves in New York during the early to mid '90s. Gangs aren't anything to glorify at all, but they are also an intricate part of American culture. There are full-on documentaries about the Irish Mob, the Italian Mafia, movies like "Gangs of New York", and a lot of documentation on Chicago and LA gangs. Decepticons definitely deserve recognition in the history of New York City gangs.
