Hey Darren, I work for a mid-sized ecom company and we traditionally have spent around $100k/mo in Google Ads alone. That same $100k/mo last year would have netted me better results, but right now we are experiencing EXTREMELY high CPC prices and these are at random times too. It's safe to say that Google doesn't tell you when these prices will rise, but based on the traffic quality we're receiving it's clear that we have to look at other platforms to advertise on. Crazy times we live in!
I have heard this exact comment over a dozen times in 2024. The increases cannot last forever, there has to be a breaking point. It will be interesting to see how Google reacts when advertisers divert a decent percentage of their ad dollars...
@@darrentaylordigital I've seen this massively as well over the last 2-4 years. As well as the constant bombardment of Google account reps reaching out to clients directly. They are trying to cut agencies more & more
Google are just shooting themselves in the foot by being greedy. As an affiliate marketer, I've seen CPCs go up by 40% or more. but our commissions are virtually the same, so profits are now hard to come by. There will be a lot of smaller advertisers like me quitting Google and moving on, and that will be a massive loss to them. Also, the quality of traffic we now get is rubbish since they introduced "close matching" and broads, and the fact that [exact] doesn't mean Exact anymore, it may as well be broad! Google, your greed will be your downfall, no one trusts you anymore, and that's a sad fact. Thanks for a great video Darren
Thanks for watching. I agree their greed will be their downfall. They'll have nowhere left to turn if CPCs continue to rise as they are and advertisers leave the platform. Especially if their organic search experience also sucks!
Google's rinsed. CPC fluctuating wildly at the moment. You're right as far as being across multiple platforms. SEO and multi channel approach is the only way
Google ads is a one part, organic search is another but it sucks really. What's the future for ecom business if organic is no-more the option for them? CPC is gone high and Organic is no-more viable option for long run then what?
Could another search engine interrupt the status quo and offer organic only searches? Assuming the figure another way to monetize in lieu of advertising.
Thanks for this awesome video. I just tried Google ads for my dating card game as a new business it was way too expensive. There was a time I could spend $300 for one month but now it's way too expensive. I must focus on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and RU-vid videos. The performance max ad was killing me but did get a lot of (add to carts), but I can't afford to continue. Thanks for this information.
Great video, as always, Darren. I like the lack of jump cuts. Kudos to John (Moran) for figuring out how to undermine G's obvious price fixing. Teach that!🔥
Hi Darren, thank you so much for your video. We were confused as well, why google is been such a mess this year. Our service business have been paying high CPC for google Ads with poor or no conversion. It is was googd last year.
Google advertiser verification has been a bit of a headache for onboarding new clients. Our process has recently been to collect the EIN letter or business license from new clients during onboarding. Wondering what your suggested process is for this?
Google Ads is horribly expensive. I have a small business and racked up over £60 spend in 3 days and zero sales. Switched it off and not sure how to proceed.
My google ads was doing great, but after following their account reps advices, i got no leads…like literally no leads for 1-2 months. Deleted the campaign and start over
Credit card? LOL - they even took that away - got notice that we now have to pay via invoice or ACH starting August. They are nickel and diming left and right...
@@darrentaylordigital I've been trying to get support on a simple issue for weeks. Zero help from Google. This same time I've been contacted numerous times by one of their account consultants about 3 of my accounts. I resisted because I knew exactly what he was so eager to recommend. I eventually gave in and had a 90 minute "consultation" with him (time I'm not getting paid for) - I recorded the entire thing which (as I expected) went like this: a. Change all bidding strategies to Max. Conversions without target cpa. B. Turn on auto-apply for almost everything. And finally, the coup-de-grace, use broad match across the board. Nett outcome, Google scores, clients pay more & more & more... This same guy had already started pressuring me fir follow up "consultations" to see how he's recommdations are improving my clients results.. It's only been a few days. In the mean time my actual issue with an account remains unanswered....
If Google's adapting CPC based on the fact that they have access to CPA then be sure that people aren't going to use the correct CPA in G ads ... Which in turn can lead to many more issues (market-wise). Interesting to see what's going to happen. Personally, trusting Google with anything has never been my strong point.
Me too, I have very little trust. I think things will start to change now that Google's market share is under pressure. I'm hoping for the end of the monopoly
I have found google brings me work when they feel like it. Max cpa dangerous as when ametures play they can seriously affect your cpc. Manual cpc is the best safe. guard, but Its all become so inconsistent, seems it does what it feels on the day hahah
Google service higly poor and they dont bother anything on advertisers . As monopolies making very difficult for Advertisers to invest and get fair ROI .Every government is potentially responsible for this monopolies is a posion for all .
It is definitely a monopoly. They set the auction pricing and they are currently the only player. It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't lie about it! Ad rank has one more hidden factor... Google's greed
Thanks for this video. I am interested in the SEO side supporting the Google Ads side. I have been worried that websites may be losing now to Amazon, where AI may be associated with and will be primarily researching and therefore producing results based on e-commerce products sold on that platform. Thoughts?
SEO and Google ads aren't connected at all. What you do on ads doesn't affect your organic ranking and your organics don't affect ads. Amazon will always steal ideas from best sellers on their platform and release their own lines. Not good, but they also have a monopoly on marketplaces
at the moment im learning google ads, but now i feel like its a waste of my time and i should move away from it because of the video and related comments. Can anyone give me advice?
If I said I'd give you a million dollars, then said, "actually it's only £800k" are you going to say no? Probably not. Google isn't dead, they've stagnated and have seen small decline. You can still get results and billions still use it!
