Ullswater is the best lake for fishing... If you feel really deep you can catch some extremely rare fish which ONLY live in Ullswater and a tran on top of the mountain nearby (which is also deep). They are called Vendace (in Ullswater known as Schelly or Skelly) In fact it is only found in four lakes worldwide, Red Tarn, Haweswater, Brotherswater and Ullswater, and is classified as endangered.

You are not allowed to use a keepnet during the statutory close season for coarse fish on rivers, streams, canalised rivers. This also applies to: Bassenthwaite Brothers Water Buttermere Coniston Water Crummock Water Derwentwater Ennerdale Water Grasmere Loweswater Rydal Water Ullswater Wastwater Windermere.
