This is, by far, the most in depth video I've come across for a 458 S. Most videos focus on performance and it's hard to find detailed info on spec options. Great work
Fantastic video - as a Speciale owner, that was very informative and valuable. I have mine with triplo strata giallo plus black/ grey stripe - just like the media car (reg 458 FNE) that you saw in all the reviews. For mine, the V8's are best in that colour - as my son says, like an angry hornet. Easily the best Ferrari I've ever driven. All credit to the engineers for the newer turbo and hybrid engines, but the Speciale V8 is like nothing they've ever produced.
Really enjoyed the detail explanation of those beautiful automobiles. From the design, cost and maintenance your video was truly informative. I hope those Ferrari owners and potential owners enjoyed this video as much as I did. Although I would never be able to afford such a beauty, it was a enjoyable video to watch. Well done. Thanks👍
Great informative video.I would have the 458 speciale because of the naturally aspirated engine. As you stated these cars are most likely to have higher appreciation in the future.Cheers from Australia.
I love the Speciale!! But i after drive the Pista on the track i take the Pista but the Speciale come close! And one thing the 458 Italia come out in 2009 not 2010!
I”m interested to find out why some stripes go all the way to the front of the bonnet, and some finish in the bonnet ducts, and what effect that has on the values
I was told you could by the dealership when I purchased mine recently, but I have the harness so enquired about normal belts. Told cost either way is about £4,000!!
I will take a 458 general 458 spider over a pistato spider any day. Well the pista is beautiful blistering fast better handling all around. The beauty of the 458 and the naturally aspirated sound is unbeatable.after all where are you going to use all that speed anyway and the 458 has plenty of speed for the natural street.unless you are a track person and want to track your cars the 458 is less money and it is a better more enjoyable car than the pista. I test drove the pista and I was so disappointed in the sound it's just lacking emotion as far as I'm concerned
There's no denying that the 458 Italia and Spider now offer incredible value for money and certainly have that added charm from the naturally aspirated engines. However, what the 488 platform lacks in sound it makes up for in sheer performance. Different powertrains, whether it be NA, turbocharged, hybrid, fully electric all give us different driving experiences. They say variety is the spice of life after all.
@@Romansinternational well I would say this.prior I had a Lamborghini supervolachi roadster which I really liked I love the sound the drama the look. I saw her McLaren 720S decimating it in a quarter mile drag race and sold my SV for a McLaren. I had three McLaren spiders since that time. Well they're very great performing cars they are nowhere as fun as let's say my Lamborghini performante spider.granted in a straight line performance the Lamborghinis are nowhere near as fast as the McLaren. But I'm sorry and naturally aspirated engine is far superior to any turbo engine. That being said I would not mind having a Porsche exclusive series which I'm about to buy for a very good price.but I've traded my McLaren 720S spider since then for a poor speedster which is far slower. And you know what? The speedster is a blast with that manual gear shift. The sound the whole experience. And while I did not drive the pista that long it just did not compare and fun and value for me
@@Romansinternational these photos are some of my past rides The first orange coupe that you see was my first McLaren I was gravely disappointed when I traded my Lamborghini super valace for the McLaren. As you know the McLaren is even slightly faster than the pista.I would even tell you the McLaren with a sports exhaust basic sounds better than a pista. outside of the badge in the name the McLaren is a better performer and handling car than the pista as well. but the McLaren pales in comparison to my 458 spider which I absolutely love.My Lamborghini performante was another one that I absolutely love driving more than the McLaren. And as I have said I just traded my McLaren spider the one with the carbon hood in the photo for the Porsche speedster. One day of driving the speedster and I fell in love with it.You owe me forced induction vehicle I would ever buy again would be a Porsche turbo S cabriolet and that's it. And it certainly not for the sound lol
Ferrari Buyer's Guide Step 1: buy whichever one your inner child desires because life is way too short to be buying cars for other people to buy from you later
hmm, no I cant really agree with much of this upload.. as its more of a "we're struggling to sell our 458 specials" lets make a video trying to promote there rarity & increased value!! however they've been struggling for afew years to sell at the artificially high prices on the open market place "the cars as a whole!" if anyone's watched examples listed for months on end you'll have noticed those prices dropping significantly & still the cars haven't sold, don't forget these are old cars now.... comparing these against the pista, well "that's pointless" many ppl got stung with the "must have bug" only to realise they cant flog them for a premium as ferrari are selling them on the open market ie not a limited run! again you'll see many being stagnant listed for sale at a stupid artificial price as the owner/dealer is trying to make a pretty penny.. only for the car to go unsold & again you'll have also seen several dealers reducing that "artificial price" still trying to sell the car & again 'its still going unsold' realistically ppl should find a car they like & enjoy driving it, rather then worrying about resale values. It's the collector elements that are damaging the market places.... as buying a delivery mileage car these days well, your more likely to see worrying repair work due to the car not being used then looking & buying a used example "don't forget these are cars & should be driven/enjoyed" rather then sitting in a garage/storage collecting dust. also to prove another point, its funny how we see romans using a storage place keeping cars off the market "trying to retain higher values" as per most other higher end dealers & that's also hurting the market, as ppl are more aware of what dealers do to make sure they see a higher profit. sorry to say "1st dislike!"
Mal, unfortunately you are very mistaken. We certainly have not made this video because "we're struggling to sell our Speciales". In fact quite the opposite. We've sold 2 in quick succession recently and the white car has been in stock for 2 weeks only. Whilst I do know there are some cars on the market at other dealers for a long time that is not a fair reflection of the overall market or a fair reflection of why Romans make videos. We're not the only people selling Speciales recently either, and unless you are looking on the market for Speciales every single day you won't see the Speciales that come in and out and sell very quickly. With regards to your comments on collectors damaging the market this is a fairly unsubstantiated remark. The market is big enough for collectors, driving enthusiasts and for anyone who is fortunate enough to buy one of these cars and these people should be allowed to use their cars as they see fit. If you had 20-30 cars in your collection you wouldn't have much time to drive them all either. The 2 cars we have in storage belong to our chairman as part of his personal collection, they are not for sale so why you think that is "hurting the market" when they are not even on the market is an interesting comment. They were actually bought a few years ago and we can tell you if we sold them today there would be no profit in the cars at all so you are wrong there. Thanks though for your comments, its always interesting to see what different people think but perhaps a little bit more fact finding before making such remarks wouldn't go amiss!
great video. its really interesting and i think this is a very great explanation. the 458 is a really special car, the base version is one of the best entry supercars because you get everything you want for a relatively cheap price, if you care about value a lot you can get an aperta, if you care more about getting the best driving experience and you dont care about the value the speciale coupe is perfect because it saves you 250-400k compared to the aperta but its much more exclusive than the 458 coupe/spider. if you cant find a 458 version fitting your needs you probably dont even know your needs
I’m in the U.S. and I thank you for posting this video as I am currently negotiating the purchase of a Speciale. Can I get your thoughts? The dealer told me that they had to repaint the hood (including NART stripe) and front bumper because the PPF had not protected the 4000 mile car from rock chips from road and some track use. Does that affect the value?
Yes but is a common issue with Ferraris. In Europe, a refinished bumper is not so much a taboo thing as rock chips are a part of driving a low car. In the US collectors seem to care more about original paint. That said, a reasonable number of cars get some touch up work at port of arrival. Also European delivery cars also get it before they ship out to the US
AWESOME VIDEO - I am in the market for a high mileage Speciale if you come across one as I shall be driving the car regular so a low mileage garage queen is wasted on me. ;)
@@littrandemakerjovy3770 sure if you have money to buy one what is the point of making a small profit. Rather drive the damn thing. Not everything is about money.
I realize this comment exposes me as a non-Ferrari owner, but delivery mileage on one of these just sounds like a crime to me. That Silverstone grey coupé with the black stripe is the one!
