I'm surprised you didn't mention that Ferus, during his time as Obi-Wan's apprentice, spied on the empire. At one point he was even Darth Vader's personal assistant, not knowing he was Anakin, but with Vader being very keenly aware who he was, although not realizing he was a spy. Made for a very interesting dynamic honestly.
@@maadtee6281 He was a double-agent, blackmailed by Darth Sidious into spying for the empire whilst simultaneously working to undermine it from the inside. This was before his asteroid base was destroyed and he became Leia's protector.
I wouldn’t say Kenobi is a man of many mysteries, but he definitely has several layers to him which the average fan wouldn’t expect. Forbidden attachments, apprentices besides Anikan, and so much more… Can’t wait for the Kenobi series 👍
@@phillipmeyer4059 Cerasi says otherwise, though admitedly that was as much Kenobi digging his heels in over her cause being just and teething problems with his apprenticeship to Qui-Gon as anything else.
Ferus Olin is my all time favorite Jedi and his epic badassery deserves screen time in these Star Wars movies. Besides being a very powerful Force user, he was also a skilled practitioner of Form VII: Vaapad and Juyo lightsaber combat so it would've been really interesting to see another Light Sided Jedi besides Mace Windu fight with a borderline Dark Side combat style.
Yes! Glad to see the Apprentice, Quest, and Last of the Jedi series getting some love recently with the increased interest in Kenobi! Read those books so many times in my childhood.
The fact that Obi-Wan "didn't notice" Anakin heading towards the dark-side after the 15 million "I'm definately the baddie" hints he dropped is enough of a reason to believe that Obi-Wan was Darth Jar-Jar's apprentice.
It’s weird, because the Jedi Quest books have so many moments of Obi-Wan questioning if he’s the right teacher for Anakin and agonizing about Anakin making the right choices, and then never talking to him about it except to argue with him and tell him what he did wrong. You get the feeling if they would have just sat down and had one conversation, the galaxy could have been saved.
@@jedihistorian8660 He was probably just scared and didn’t know how to voice his concerns properly without being super critical and condescending I know a lot of people in real life like that
Obi-Wan novels were well written and in fact established that many of these side characters were mainstream in the novels of the legends timelines. I myself have enjoyed several of the books in the series, and many of the stories in the books were really good.
I love that you featured Ferus in your video since he's my ultimate favorite Star Wars character. I feel like he's a largely underrated character who's done some really amazing feats with his powers that I don't usually see other Force users do and his affection for his husband along with his paternal love for Leia is so heartwarming. I hope Disney and Lucasfilm will be able to introduce him back to canon in the Star Wars cinematic universe someday. ❤
I don't know if you left a lot out or if they have two versions. For Ferus the books I read he got captured by the empire. Sidious gave him a sith holcron knowing Ferus would fall to the dark side. He turned back good. But not before he scared the crap out of his allies.
All I know is that if he taught them hot to negotiate with and troll the sepis,he taught them well. Also can you do a vid on how thrawn found grees helmet and had it on the chimera in rebels.
And people say you can't fit two different contiunties together. Well, look how well they intergrated Halagad Ventor into two stories that seemingly contradicted each other. Retcons, sometimes there a force for good. :)
Just make sure they work quite well and not derail too much (looking at you, Dragon Age sequels and other works I won't name here). And, lo and behold as of recently, in one world, a magical school is starting to resist a tyrant, in another, it's bloody Sernpidal all over again... or maybe a Razgriz vs. the SOLG.
@@michaelandreipalon359 Yeah, those two episodes were insane and awesome. The K-Pop fight was just the kind of thing I love, music played in-universe in battle. And the stuff at the school, I wasn't expecting everyone to join in the fight, Amity, Willow, and Gus sure, Edric, Emira, and the flyer derby Team maybe, but the entire school, that was a surprise to be sure, but a welcomed one. Through, I am a little mad they didn't resolve the cliff hanger from the last episode. Still, these episodes were great. Also, with how many allies Luz and Eda are gaining, and how fast it's happen it kind of reminds me of the narration before the Battle of Kashyyyk in the old Battlefront 2 game during story mode. And since I am a massive Star Wars nerd, I just had to make a variation of that narration for The Owl House: Luz: "When we learned of Belos plan and tried to stop him, things were just bad as we imagined. Even with Amity, Willow, Gus, and our remaining main allies, Belos's army had us outgunned, outmaneuvered, and outmanned by a 5 to 1 majin. What none of us had counted on was the rest of Hexside joining us to help stop Belos. Still, it was a suicided mission even with the help. That is, it was until several of the Coven Heads and many people in the Emperors Coven joined us, like Warden Wrath said many in the Coven had doubts and joined us, then it became a battle. A winnable battle."
Never am much into Blackpink. With that in mind, the likes of "Lean on Me" from the show's Season 1 finale, Animation vs. Minecraft's "Pigstep" remix, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines' "Live Your Life" and other licensed songs are more in line on personal preferences. Nice narration there, but I would prefer a background character's eyewitness observations, not a main character's, for more spice, a newer angle, and how they did and felt during the time of crisis.
THIS IS MY SHIT love all your videos man but this one slappppped, it’s not often I find videos on lore I not only don’t remember, but have actually never heard of, thanks Geetsly!
yeah they're all good people, yknow, being moral and selfless, killing a few younglings on the side, not too many, that would be dastardly. no, just some all-around good people /s
The Jedi Quest series, where Ferus is from, has a lot of terrible decisions from the Council, where they decide to temporarily leave 13yo Anakin enslaved in the spice mines, don’t care about him being drugged by Sith Cultists, or send him to pursue Jenna Zan Arbor, the scientist who drugged and experimented on him. I honestly like the Council, but some of their choices were baffling. Would you consider making a video about their ten worst decisions (regarding Anakin)?
one thing I think that would be interesting to cover is more situations like the later apprentice where things were the results of minor retcons or things which were changed in creative ways like the concordance of fealty being used to explain the original comic being made 'wrong' when other movies came out
So, anyone in the comments actually read and been through Ferus Olin's adventures from his very first appearance to his supposed endgame later on? If so, congratulations, even if pain and unresolved issues were also received by marching on.
ATHA PRIME was released as a 3.75 figure back in the day (late 1990's). But during that time the character wasn't a singular identity, hold the same title/name. And was also introduced (design wise) in a classic star wars post rotj. Points to you if you recognize ATHA PRIMES physical design.
Ngl looking into Zeta Magnus would be cool, he despite his few appearances is definitely up there as an interesting villain along with Durge and Grevious. Plus it is a good chance to look at the arkanians who are very underrated.
I wish Tales Of The Jedi focused on Anakin's, and Obi-Wan's Pre-AOTC time as Apprentice, and Master, respectively, instead of Ahsoka. It would've been a great way to re-canonize Ferus Olin, Siri Tachi, and possible Araa Thel-Tanis & Tru Veld.
Anakin was kind of an asshole, wasn't he? So many red flags throughout his life. Qui Gon, or perhaps Mace Windu, were maybe the only Jedi who may have been able to get through to him. I love Obi-Wan, but he simply wasn't the right person for the job, and that should have been noticed.
What this video left out was that Ferus and Anakin were both terrible to each other-including a time when Anakin had been captured and drugged and unknowingly used in a scientific experiment about the Force, and Ferus blamed Anakin for being conflicted about his captivity. It definitely wasn’t a case of Anakin being an ass and Ferus being an angel. Agreed that someone should have noticed Anakin’s problems and intervened, though.
Wasn't Halagad Ventor captured and tortured by inquisitors? Maybe you could do a video about jedi run-ins with the inquisitorious, I believe both Ventor and Ferus Olin had several encounters with them. (Legends, of course!)
Iirc, Halagad and the likes of Qu Rann established a network of surviving jedi, but Halagad eventually got captured, and after IMMENSE, UNENDING TORTURE by Vader and company he broke, and disclosed their locations. Only Qu Rann escaped, everyone else in the network was slaughtered. In a cruel act of mercy, Vader let Halagad live, and he went into exile. Eventually a ship crew that was (stranded? lost? I forget) showed encountered him, and presented him with his Republic Medal of Valor that he had always brought with him, but left in his ship when he went into exile. He helped the crew out, and was able to die in peace, and I think he might have become a force ghost. Details are hazy, so don't quote me on anything, but that's the gist of it.
How did obi wan have 2 other apprentice’s? He got Anakin when he became a night and we never seen a different apprentice? Was it after Anakin that we just never seen?? Weird
@@alsimmonshellspawn6021 no he's also an inquisitor, it's just his creator wanted his homosexuality to be a key trait and it wasn't mentioned, not to mention people want representation in media
So.. in all ACTUALITY.. Kenobi ISNT much of a teacher is he? In fact, Anakin was an ALMOST success unless you count him becoming a Knight an Council Member an then Anakin's Son Luke whom got it right where he failed. Sounds like MOST of Kenobi's trainees either would die or turn Evil at some point
I mean, he's got 3 of 4 on the light side! 😅. And honestly he even master Yoda himself trained one that went bad... And as to dying, well, being a Jedi through order 66 and beyond is hazardous.
