Nice to see Monkey Island coming out on top (and also MI2 being close)... In a lot of ways it's simpler than some of the others, as it doesn't have extensive animated cutscenes, or voices, and the puzzles are mostly quite simple... But it totally nails it where it counts - amazingly atmospheric locations and top notch comedy writing.
Common misconception, regarding the intent for The Dig script to be made into a film, when the idea actually was for it to be part of his "Amazing Stories" TV series (TV, Film... semantics lol). The 1987 (actual) film Batteries Not Included was also intended to be part of the same series.
Yeah as I was editing this I realised what I said. I purposely didn’t write a script for this video like I usually do as I wanted more of a relaxed feeling and there are a few things I could have recorded again but thought, huh, nevermind.
Same here, the first seconds of the intro, standing on the edge of the museum spire…. All fantastic moments that cannot be rivaled. And the music of course.
For me, I think top theee would be 1. DOTT 2. Indiana Jones FOA 3. MI 2 4. The Dig 5. Full Throttle Ask me any other day, maybe mix them around a little. What is true though, Lucas Arts made some AMAZING games!
Shows how well made Grim Fandango was that despite the terribly clunky controls it’s always so highly regarded What a Story, what a setting! Good list Shame MI2 wasn’t top though!
Great video, even though I disagree with the list 😅. For me, Fate of Atllantis is No1. It has great replay value! But I'm glad to see Sam & Max in the middle (kind of). I think it's a bit overrated with its insane puzzles! But MI4 at dead last? Below Zak and Maniac Mansion? That's just insane...
Interesting that zak mckracken came in that low, I personally enjoyed it because back when this game was like half to 25% of the lucasarts adventure game library, it was worth playing. But compared to what came after, yeah its no fate of atlantis or day of the tentacle.
What?! I was sure The Curse of Monkey Island would be higher! And I'd have put money on Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis being in the top three!! 😮
@@YakWaxLips Curse is a weird one since it wasn't made by Ron Gilbert and graphically is so different, and arguably is more "comedy" than the other two. But remembering how many disliked it when it came out I've been astonished how beloved it is. Seems most who played Curse first prefer it.
Top 3 is Day of the Tentacle Curse of Monkey Island Full Throttle For me I loved all these games some of the earliest I played although I've played them all now. Fate of Atlantis I hated because some of the puzzles were just too obscure 😂 especially that feckin hot air balloon
