I believe the deku boy saw who cursed the woodfall temple, after being told he was a liar or something similar he followed the skull kid to the tunnel under clocktown, but got to close, the young courageous deku who only sought approval from his peers. met his fate like the other masks, heading for the source of their people's suffering, but indirectly going for majora.
Maybe that's why Link screams when he puts the masks on. He must experience some harsh memories of the deceased or some shit. Good video Spek. Take care.
Ah sorry to ramble, tldr; Link and the Deku Boy have similar upbringings, that's why Link takes the role of Deku Boy compared to the other 2 Mask Spirits. I think the Little Deku Boy is def younger than Link, which makes his story much more tragic.The NPCs treat Link differently when he's transformed into the Deku, as if the Deku Boy is a defenseless baby, maybe half Link's age. Both Deku Boy and Link needed to be healed in this moment in the game. To add on why Link takes the role of the Deku Boy in the nightmare sequence: Link *himself* expierenced bullying at a young age too through Mido and some Kokiri. Link never felt like he belonged during OOT, only to learn he was never even Kokiri, that's a lot to learn on top of the whole Instant Adult Hero thing. Link and Deku Boy are both very lonely, traumatized, kids, so Link taking the role in the nightmare was perhaps Link himself, subconsciously through Majora's Magic, sympathizing or empathizing with the young Scrub before his tragedy. Add on to all this, Link himself perhaps had to heal from that feeling of isolation too. Zelda did send him back to a time where Mido bullied him relentlessly too, so maybe the Song of Healing healed both the Deku Boy *and* Link hence why they wave goodbye at the end. It's symbolic for the Deku Boy but also Link as well. Link probably didn't have to be in the role of Darmani or Mikal cus he knows and accepted his duty as a hero, but to be sent back to a time where you have to relive being bullied and outcasted makes it hard to get over that moment in Link's life. With that, many tend to ask where or who Link's Termina parallel is, it could honestly be the Deku Boy. The parallels are there somewhat.
Ahhh shiiiit.... the decu Boy ended himself because he couldnt handle the Pain as a social outcast, thats why we never see his real spirit. According to the "Laws" of the afterlife, you are deemed to stay in purgatory when you did suicide and you cant get salvation. Thats probably why everyone in Termia is so harsh towards the Decu Boy: he has no Place in the Afterlife just like he had no Place in his former Life 😭😭😭
@@ahabduennschitz7670 i don't think he ended his own life, i think Skull Kid, possesed by Majora, killed deku boy whioe he was in a very vulnerable and sad state (he ran away from home). Majora had the deku mask and put it on Link, implying Majora did something to Deku Boy and both Link and Dkeu Boy needed to heal from the harm Majora put on them both as well as their past baggage.
People treat human!Link as mature because he carries a sword, it's even explicitly stated when the guards try to stop him from leaving town before noticing it.
@@CoralCopperHead yes but how they talk to Human Link is different in tone from how they talk to Deku Link, everyone talks to Deku Link as if he's way younger than Link (who's like 11 or 12 during Majora's Mask). The guards even ask where Deku Link's parents are but never bothers to ask Human Link this question. I'm thinking Deku Boy / Deku Link was around the same age as the little bomber kids
@@stephanos6128 To quote the guards talking to Human!Link: _"It is dangerous outside the town walls, so I cannot allow a child like you to..._ _...A sword?_ _My apologies, sir. It was wrong of me to treat you like a child."_ They only let Human!Link through because he had a sword, which made them assume he was an adult. Link _is_ in the same 8-12 range as the Bombers.
Those are some really going points. I did wonder what that scene with Link surrounded by so many scrubs meant, but it all makes sense after this video.
So going off what you've said, which I agree with entirely, it must be safe to assume that when the Butler himself was younger he was subjected to this when he was young himself. After all most parents repeat the actions of their own parents whether they are willing to admit it or not. For him he probably enjoyed it and was proud of being able to keep up with his parents. But for his son it was more tortuous than it was satisfactory. It might have to do with his son's appearance, something we can note about his son is that he doesn't look like other Deku's, if we could considering the 'red leaved' Deku's as being young adolescent Deku's the son would've been bullied not just for barely making it through the maze but also for his appearance. For the son being pushed to do something he didn't enjoy, bullied for barely making the maze and bullied for his appearance was too much to bear. He ran to escape it all it's just unfortunate he came across Skull Kid who had become malevolent thanks to Majora. Only reason I say he doesn't look like other scrubs is that when you play Eulogy of Emptiness the scrub that comes from the Deku Mask does not look like other scrubs. That's my theory to place on top of this one.
Maybe the reason Link is himself in the scrub's memories is because he doesn't have the song of healing. All he can do is empathize with the memories. Not heal them yet, like he can with Darmani and Mikau.
The lonely tree is definitely the Butler's son, it's creepy Skull Kid had extracted his essence from him to turn Link into what is now the Deku son, also isn't it odd the same magic had similar reversal effects from the Song of Healing which the Mask Salesmen oddly knows?
I really should get around to playing Majora’s Mask. I have the 3DS version, but just haven’t gotten around to playing it. I really like the darker themes that game had. Too bad the series doesn’t really have the same tone as it used to. Hopefully BOTW2 fixes this. I really wish that the Dekuscrubs appeared in more games. Maybe they were in some of the handheld games, but I haven’t played those. I really like the idea of plants that can move around and have their own society.
I saw that. It’s really funny how that game COMPLETELY messed up the timeline and how a good chunk of the Zelda community are twisting themselves into knots in a horribly botched attempt to say it doesn’t mess up the lore. A lot of the “lore community”/theory makers don’t truly understand the lore. A lot of them just go by the badly translated English versions, and if they look at more accurate fan translations they’ll refuse to learn the cultural/historical context that the lore is based on. UndyingNephalim has ranted a lot about this.
