I was a baby then, a true classic. To think, the songwriters were writing tunes to pay the rent and eat, never would have guessed they would be enjoyed for generations! Are the members deceased!
66 years old, here! The only music out there these days that is like this is by Thee Sacred Souls. They are from San Diego and didn't start performing together until 2020 and were immediately signed with Daptone. They'll be performing at the Fool In Love concert this August 2024 in Los Angeles along with Diana Ross,Lionel Richie, The Stylistics, The Delfonics, etc. You can listen to their whole album on youtube. I just recently first heard of them when their song "Weak For Your Love" was played while I was eating dinner at a restaurant. I immediately found out the name of the song and before my dinner arrived I had already saved the link to their album to listen to it later, looked up when they would be playing live and where, signed up for their mailing list, and shared the link with a lot of friends.
Yep me too!!!! The seventies was the time I left school, learned sooooo much about life, lived to tell the tale and soul music woke me up , comforted me , inspired me , made me yearn and so much more ❤️❤️❤️❤️
At 70 in 2023. This song brings tears to my eyes thinking of love lost those many, many, years ago. A timeless classic on this cold, rainy day. Thanks guys.
I'm a 79 year old white woman who played this over and over while getting dressed for my mother's funeral two days before Thanksgiving, 1974. It still makes me sad.
Same here. I put in jackie brown delfonics i remember jackie saying how she loved em n when the beat came in watching her, i had a crush on her it was my fav movie for many years❤✌️
Thank the Lord for the Devil's music? I reckon we should as he clearly knows what he's doing, or he wouldn't have made fallen angels in the first place or even invented Jedward.
I’m with you 100% on that! I agree entirely!! Only slight difference being that it was 10-15 yrs ago for me, not that it really matters any... But YES- Discovering this incredibly good song is my very favorite part about the film itself. Beautiful melody, vocals, lyrics, instrumentation and arrangement, EVERY THING. ❤️ Best.
I still have my original 45rpm record I bought of this great song. I was 18 years old when I bought it and I'm 71 years old now. I still love this song. Classic 😊
I'm so sorry Dawn. She is looking down on you, forever with you sweetie, I believe in this cuz I KNOW my daddy is with me every day. Your mom raised you right Dawn 🌹
@@terrywalter1655 Thank you for your kind words. The amount I know about Motown music I thank her for everyday. I can't thank her enough for my love of music of all kinds
So very sad and sorry Dawn. Bless you and your dear Mom , music from my childhood and memories of my mom loving her soul music. Your mom is in your heart always .
It never is! If I hear about The Rolling Stones and The Beach Boys one more time. The more that the media say the names of such group it cements the thief of the music and that cash🤑🤑🤑🤑
Damn everyone here is literally 70 years old or 60 I am over here 18 I love this music because of my grandpa and he still alive. He’s in his early 60s.🦋🐐♾️👑 I will cherish this song, and every other song he showed me. I love all of them and he’s my favorite person in the world
Memories. My 6 ex-Air Force veteran uncles were alive, my mother and my father were alive, my 3 cousins and my ex-marine brother was alive. Young people, spend time with your loved ones, time passes by fast.
I’m 71 now and was 20 in 1971. I’m a white guy, a musician and a Beatles fan, but great music stands the test of time and this is one of them. This is a classic up there with a select few. It’s sung with such great emotion. The chord changes are fabulous and creates those great song surprises. Melody and vocal are awesome. Melody can never be overrated. One of only a handful of favorites of mine.
I m 67 and loved this song the day I heard it back in the 70s, I can never grow old whilst listening to all the great tunes from back then, songs today just don't compare. 4 wheels move the body. 2 wheels move the soul. Music moves the heart . P crawshaw 2023
I was riding school bus to school 35 years ago . I remembered this song came on and I asked my bus driver to please turn on louder! She did it for me because I picked grapes and gave them to her all the time! Great song and will always love this song!
Sweet post 🙂 I will listen to this song for as long as I have the ears to hear. Such a phenomenal performance! Love love love the harmonies, vocal melodies, and every single thing about it, really. Best. ❤️

Yes. It should have been #1. But again, back then, unlike today, almost every week great songs like this one were released as singles and not all unfortunately could have reached #1.

OH MY GOD! THOSE HORNS!!! IF THIS SONG DON'T GET YOU UP..I DON'T KNOW...I AM LOST FOR WORDS. I ONLY LISTEN TO THE GROUPS LIKE THIS BACK IN THE DAY..BE GLAD WHEN THEY COME TO OHIO.
This song is the best brings back the best of times simple times uncomplicated no stress no pressure no shootings no crime just dancing going to clubs puppy love. I'd give anything for these times to come back verses what we are all going through today. No one can erase the memories it's like a time machine and I buckle up and get in that time machine and close my eyes and I go back and revisit those times and what I was doing. My mother told me long ago that I'd wish for these times and days back again one day. She was 100 % right but like I said I have my own time machine I throw on a song from those times and close my eyes and take a ride back. I love it Blessing to y'all take a ride back and enjoy. Memories are vivid it feels like you are back in time.
One of the early R an B music groups -wonderful voices , and musicians for sure . Music. That sticks in you memories ! Thank you all The Delfonics ❤️☮️💋
the temptations brought me here by way of Otis Redding, sam cooke, the chi-lites, and numerous others. the constant search for good music brought me here.

At 78 years old I still have all my 45s from Don't Be Cruel and all the great Do-Wop songs of the 50s through the 60s, in perfect condition. And everything Disco! To spin and listen takes me back to my youth, as if it were yesterday. And, of course, it was! Tempus fugit. Vince R.
As a youngster during the release of this song, I certainly remember the joy from this song, and the happiness it caused. Older kid, and adults, danced and sang this beautiful song, beautifully. A true time of fun, and unity in the "HOOD."
I love you, Jesus I want you to walk with me, I'd take good care of you, baby Call you my baby, baby You died for my sins, And you know that I would die for you, right What's the matter, baby You're trembling Jesus, baby Your love Is my light You know without you there's a black hole in my life I wanna believe it's all right But I get lonely in the night And it's up to you to save me, Jesus baby
