After seeing you guys let more people in on these videos I had to come back and say: GIVE THIS MAN HIS OWN STUFF. His prospect breakdowns are just leagues ahead of the rest vocally and insight wise right now. We need more J. Kyle Mann
I don't trust a man who can't make his free throws. I remember KOC talking about how FT% is a solid indicator as to whether a player will make the jump to the NBA, but that was focused on collegiate players. I think he has the knowledge and ability to adapt to the NBA, he just needs work learning to shoot off the dribble.
The FT% is concerning. But his shot looks fine, and he has nice touch around the rim. I don't think he'll ever be a great shooter, but I could see him shooting around 35% from 3 on around 3-5 attempts a game in his prime
If he somehow falls to the Spurs, I think Chip Engelland might be able to get his free throw and long range shooting in order, if Deni puts in the work. He is the shooting coach who really helped Kawhi become a great shooter.
@@thesuperdeduperman I know he won't fall that far. But the fact that the warriors with the splash bros on the roster have the 2nd pick somehow slipped my mind. Might be a good idea for them to draft him to play the Harrison Barnes role
They don't need him. They have JJ Barea and Luka to do the playmaking. They need shooting around Luka and KP and I think Deni won't provide that for them
jalen brunson is not a playmaker. And I'm not a mavs fan so don't expect me to remember every player who plays there. Calling me a casual, saying avdija can go to mavs even though they don't have a lottery pick smh
Great video. He's a two year project. He's Very young. Mid 70s ft%, better pick and roll game, mid range jump shot and improved left hand make him a hedo type player
He's not going to be the primary ball handler to start out in DC with Wall and Beal and even Cassius but he's going to have to be able to knock down shots and play some defense. Little interesting because Troy Brown, Rui, Bertans, and Thomas Bryant are kind of all the same position, more so for TBJ bc i feel deni and him have redundant skill sets so TBJ might get traded.
I think he's gonna be a solid player. Maybe close to a younger version of Gallinari. And that's not a bad comparison. Danilo has made ALOT of money in the league and continues to get lucrative deals at his older age.
@@dreams-deferred9715 He's 50/86 for 58.1% this season in Israel on 3.07 FTAs a game, that's a decent sample size. Imagine any decent shooter in the NBA being under 60% after 28 games.
@@kristapsvalainis1671 LaMelo takes super bad shots...but I just think that's who he is and I fully expect that to continue in the NBA too. I think he's got bust written all over him, if he can't get motivated to defend when it would guarantee him the first overall pick, he won't find that motivation after he's making millions of dollars with a shoe deal.
9,200,001 right here, I think he is the best player by far in this class, if he developes his left he can be a great 3 level playmaker, throw in solid defence and definately all star caliber player right here
He has a game in between Dario Saric and Danilo Gallinari. If a team drafts him thinking he's Luka, he'll be a bust. He has skills that compliments talent and not take over games. teams Golden State and Chicago would be good fits for his play style.
@@DragonsFrogs No when drafting you're supposed to be drafting for superstar POTENTIAL in the top 5. 5-10 at least star and 10-32 is when you at least hope for a starter. I don't want my bulls drafting a couple time Allstar, high end role player that I think Deni will be. This class is just to uncertain that he's propped up to the top. Last year he would've went 10-15.
I see Gordon Hayward essentially, something like the 4th best option on a championship team. Capable of doing everything but not the best at anything, usually will fall to role of in bounds pass on the final possession of the game. Someone every team will want, but never the centre piece of an offence or defence.
I don't know why people keep saying "he doesn't great at anything". First of all, he's only 19 years old playing in a team with zero patience for development (a top 5 Euroleague team) with tons of win now pressure, so in a situation like that he couldn't really take risks and show his true skills. It's like people forgot the very possible outcome that he polish his skills from good to great under NBA conditioning. That's very possible, and for some reason people acting like what he shows now is also his ceiling.
Top 5 might be a stretch But in a good system where he’s the 2nd or 3rd guy he can be a problem I could see him AVG 16PPG easily, with a few 25+ Point games
His dad is Serb..just like Luka Doncic, Goran Dragic, Drazen Petrovic and many others...60% of all great european prospects are either Serbs or they have roots from Serbia..not to mention Pit Maravic and Greg Popovic and many others.
From these videos, looks like he is releasing his shot from the wrong spot. He needs to move the ball to his right. That will make him more accurate and give him a faster release.
I’m not big on him. 50 percent from the free throw line?? Cmon bruh. I saw people comparing him to luka and that’s not a good comparison at all and is too high of expectations for Demi
This is on the down low so don’t tell anybody but I’ve heard of this insane talent out of Israel named Jesus dudes got such good handles he can practically walk on Water
@@mperformance3502 cuz sun's management sucks, sacramento DIVAC had an issue with his fam 🤣🤣, hawks though they get trae anyways so yeah hope I answer ur question
@@oror3751 In the Euro League, yes, he's 14/20 in his entire career (2/2 and 12/18 in two seasons), so we can dismiss those number. On the other hand, in Israel this season he was 50/86 from the line in 28 games (averaging 3.07 a game) which is not exactly a tiny sample size. For a comparison, Tyler Herro went 87/100 this season and that was spread over a lot more games. Andre Drummand and Dwight Howard were the only players in the league who averaged 3+ FTs a game and were that bad from the line at 57.5% and 51.5% respectively. Hell, even DeAndre Jordan shot 68% from the line this year! There's no way even a decent shooter should be be under 60% in 28 games which is a decent enough of a sample size for shooters. So that's a bit worrying to me too.
You are the best bits of the Ringer man. You need the dime drop back, it's hard to know when a ringer vid is one of yours or not. Either that or label them "J Kyle Mann"
I'm Israeli and I saw him playing a lot. I don't know enough about this draft class but in a normal draft year he is like 20+ pick. It's craziness he is being talked about as top 5 pick, maybe some GM's have PTSD from Luka.
I think he's the next Dragan Bender/Andrea Bargnani. Whenever a good European prospect comes into the NBA, the league starts looking for the next one and normally jumps the gun
@Doffy Donquixote Deni will be an okay player. He’s not going to be like Luka at all. His ceiling would be Gallinari/Utah Gordon Hayward but he’s not even a good shooter (percentage wise). The original comment is correct. Teams are desperately looking for the next Luka
@Doffy Donquixote I'm not trying to say he's gonna be on the level of Bender or Milicic, I'm just saying that the reason he's being touted so high is because the league wants another Luka. To me he tops out at Lamar Odom or Diaw but I really expect him to be more on the level of Dario Saric cause most teams won't know how to use his playmaking
In a normal draft he's 20+ pick? clown, Omri Casspi who was much worse of a prospect was a 20+ pick. In other words you claim Deni and Casspi are same caliber prospects, which shows how clueless you are. Deni is X3 better prospect.
@Doffy Donquixote what you mean, he has .2% lower than Harden, shoots better than a Lot of 3P shooters in the league and also, he shoots that much because If you close too much on him he is going to have a party infiltrating the lane
Never trust a scout that cant even pronounce his name right , video meshed up last 2 years as a 17-19 year old and didnt noticed that he already improved in some areas that was mentioned as an issue , such as 3pt shooting and descition making. FT he will get over that- in israels semi final U20s he scored 12-12 when it counted.
@@chrispaulbd damn. Sounds like someone is hating. He is 19, he will improve. And if he does happen to be a role player in the NBA. That’s pretty damn good. How many players in the world are good enough to be that? Not many
Read Kyle's body of work, he killed the 2018 draft, he has no bias of country or style.Deni has good handles for someone who's 6'9 but they aren't anything special in total. He's smart though and is an above average defender. Even I've seen the tape and the highlights his left hand is weak. Deni will be a solid player, perhaps a couple time allstar in the future. But at 4 he's not someone I want the bulls drafting.
Rokas Jokubaitis: 19 year old PG, can pass, shoot, plays a key role on a 5-1 Euroleague team and is not even mentioned in the 2nd round, meanwhile guys like Deni and Killin Hayes are in the Top 10..........why?
For the same reason Cassius Winston isn't in the top five draft pick even though he was the best point guard in college basketball last year. It's not about who you are but what you can be
Because the scouts and the GMs are looking into what these players might be 2-3 years down the line. Lol, Jalen Brunson probably is the best PG in college his senior year but he only got drafted in the 2nd round. Same with JJ Redick back then, the best college player but but got drafted late lottery. But it also have it's downsides like the reason why Thabeet is drafted 2nd in 09 because these scouts thinks he would improve his game once he hits the NBA.
Cause Kobe really changed the draft process. Teams don't look at guys who can come in and compete after good years in college/overseas like Bird, Jordan or Magic, they pick guys who have potential to get there, like Ja and Ingram. The good players are looking to get paid earlier and teams would rather develop them on the highest level instead of getting comfortable killing lesser competition and ending up with a guy like Jimmer Freddette, who kills it in every league not named the NBA
@@thatguyluis but this isnt collage, a 19 year old kid is tourching players in the 2nd best league in the world while Deni is a bench guy and Killian is playing against lesser competition,
I miss dime drop... I feel homies talent gets lost within everyone else just talking about topics.. RIP the dime drop ima still support you though homie ! Thank you for the upload it’s been a year and i thought you were gone forever 🙏🏼
Don't see star potential, but I think he could be a good role player someday, assuming he develops his shot. If he builds out his frame defensively and develops his 3 point shot, he could become a very important player for a good team.
Agree. I see a Danilo gallinari type player. 16-18 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists. Gallo obviously was the better shooter coming into the draft, but I believe in deni’s form
@@christiandelapena8623 nah people who knew were saying Luka would be a star. Main difference between these two is that Luka was the youngest Euroleague MVP ever, the second best league in the world. Really think people are overrating Deni rn because of Doncic not realizing how much of an anomaly Doncic. Yeah they're both tall european playmakers but Doncic was completely running his team with stepbacks, floaters and an array of offensive moves while also unleashing amazing passes in both the half and full court, all with immense swagger. Doncic is and was different than nearly every every other European prospect we have ever seen
He is in perfect condition relative to his age he is perhaps the youngest in this draft he has athletic delivery power and he played three years at almost the highest levels except in the US he will improve his shooting and be an excellent player maybe not a star but someone who can really influence the game...wait and see...
I see more first year Dario Saric/Orlando Hedo. At best an Odom. Hopefully the team he goes to can find a way to use his playmaking, cause Saric has just become a stretch 4 in the league
@@RennWickam In stretches, I've seen the Kings' Nemanja Bjelica being used as a playmaking stretch 4 along with Bogdanovic helping on some playmaking on the side. I immediately thought "Saric could have totally been like this". We need more Jokic! LOL And I think Deni feels more like his countryman Omri Casspi with more playmaking skills.
@@youngboyxaj6692 we already have a proven Point Guard, and a great Development coaching staff to help with the guards. IMO Is rather grab Kira Lewis Jr late in the draft
How do you know an article has a bias against a prospect? when it showing only his cutting, C&S and 'role player' plays. Why you don't show all the off the dribble creation Deni has shown? why only showing his mediocre plays? :/ Also, Deni has a lot of good plays with his left hand, but you only shows his bad ones. I wonder why.
Lol you should've watched J kyle mann's scouting report on 2018 nba draft prospects he hasn't taken a L yet..he knows what he's talking about...you casual
seems like hezonja got is better than this guy., magic ruined hezonja he was solid potential when drafted now he look like he need to return to europe to develop
@@keltners613 Orlando has no idea how to develop talent. Just a bad organization that doesn't get enough attention for it. Traded Oladipo and Sabonis for 1 year of Serge Ibaka, signed like a million big men. Stifled the development of Hezonja, Gordon, Issac and I'm expecting them to do the same thing with Bamba after resigning Vucevic. Those guys are all natural PF's/C's and can't share the floor effectively, it shows on the offensive end. People don't recognize the purgatory they are in because they aren't horrificly bad like the Cavs, Kings, Detroit or Hornets
He is born and raise in Israel, and plays for Israel national team. His father is born in Kosovo, and his mother is Israeli. Avdija is Turkish name, which describe his religion.
He has low shoulders, a long neck and short arms. People overrate his size. Standing reach is the true length indicator but casuals just look at height.
I disagree with the non all Star thing. He is all around but rui can subset that by becoming a deadly iso player. I still think Deni can be a all star on his own
I love these scouting reports because they're evidence-based and realistic. Because of the distribution of natural talent, only at most a few players every draft will ever end up becoming All-Stars. And that's totally ok. Nothing wrong with being a solid average player.
The ''Plavi''(Yugoslavian) school of basketball was one of the best in the world. It established the philosophy for all the countries that rose after the war. Thats why 9.5/10 players from the ex-Yugoslavian countries know the game and know how to shoot.
He's not going to make a huge splash in the NBA, but he looks like a very smart, quick witted player with good fundamental skills; very useful when given the right opportunities. If he can get his strength and conditioning level up to speed, he could be looking at the kind of career Omri Casspi had or even a bit better.
Kyle please go back on the Ringer NBA show again please! your recent episode was one of the best! thanks for all the hard work you put into your content!
@@forestlink6673 I don't think anyone expects him to be a superstar though, it's just a weak draft. I don't get the LaMelo hype at all either, he's going to be his brother but without defense...you know, 1 of the 2 things (defense & playmaking) keeping Lonzo in the league. Avdija is no future superstar, but he's definitely got above average starter potential and 2-way ability. I like watching LaMelo but I absolutely would not want my team to draft him.
@@forestlink6673 thats exactly my point, because of dirk, a lot of teams picked shooting big from europe hoping for the next 'dirk'... but no one came close.. now im predicting teams will pick more european like luka.. but no one will become like luka
