Enjoy my reaction to The Departed! This film certainly had me on edge for most of it. Incredible performances all round and super high stakes with some plot twists thrown in. Enjoy :)

Great film and great reaction. Btw, it's implied the baby is actually Leo's character, given how Matt Damon's character has "issues" in the bedroom but with Leo, they had no troubles at all so its meant for the viewer to add it all up.

We saw this in the theater when it was released. Mark Wahlberg was epic in this. Honestly the f bombs came so fast it got funny. One of those films that is great yet very disturbing.

Matt Damon’s character, literally called Costello and warned him about the cops tailing him. And then they run the red light and lose the cops and you say dang they must have some good connections LMAO. I realize this is one of the more confusing movies that one was a perfect layup lol

Fun fact, the scene at 21:29 was unscripted. Nobody knew that Jack Nicholson had a gun on set until he pulled it, cocked it and pointed it at Leo on film. Granted the gun was probably unloaded, but since no one was expecting it, Scorsese loved Leo’s reaction and how Jack described how being around a rat was and decided to keep it in the film in the end. Loved the reaction, BTW. One of my favorite movies. You should try “Sling Blade,” or “Fargo.” Another two great movies!!

Martin Scorsese has left a deep influence in my life when i saw some films life "Casino", "Cape Fear', "Taxi Driver", "Goodfellas", "Gangs of New York", "The Aviator", "Shutter Island", "Hugo", "The wolf of Wall Street", "Silence" and "The Irishman" But, "The Departed" is one film that blew my expectations. This film definitely deserved to win the Oscar for best picture. Anyway, i cant wait to see "Killers of the flower moon"

May have been justice, but Dignam was a rat … you can see it in his face when William mentions that there might be a rat in the department… his attitude towards him changed and also, cops don’t do “hits” … the rat running across the railing is a reminder that “it’s a nation of rats” mr French’s words !

I am from & live in Boston, MA where this movie is based off of. Bostonians have a very noticeable accent. Matt Damon & Mark Wahlberg are both from Boston, MA. BUT some of the so called Boston Accents in The Movie are terrible. Great Movie !!! Enjoyed Your Reaction.

@denisletourneau9750
@denisletourneau9750 Год назад
@@thecocoacouch The Boston Accent is all about The Letter "R" Jack Nicholson ( A Legend in Movies) Boston Accent is terrible & Martin Sheen as well. Alec Baldwin is not bad. Alec Baldwin is from New York but their accent is heavier than the Boston Accent & you can hear it in the movie. Leonardo DiCaprio is the best of the bunch but a few slip ups in the movie but pretty decent, If you are not from Boston you probably don't notice. The Boston Accent is well known as being 1 of the most difficult accents to do in movies it is very distinct. And Bostonians are big time critics who let it be known whether actors pass or fail with The Bostonian Accent.
@thecocoacouch
@thecocoacouch Год назад
It’s fascinating to me since I have to learn accents as an aspiring actor. Boston is easier for Aussies thank goodness since our vowels are already so open and exaggerated. Boston sounds kinda Aussie since the R’s sound like AA’s.

Yeah, Leo's accent is horrible, Alec Baldwin's is horrible. Nicholson's is horrible. Martin Sheen's is horrible. Vera Famiglia's is horrible. And I feel even Damon and Wahlberg's are overdone. "You are not a coh-op!" lol. Like the movie (not anywhere near my favorite Scorsese, or his most important work, but it's good), but those accents are really cringey, I agree!

@Zorros2ndCousinTwiceRemoved
I've known Infernal Affairs for years before Scorsese even considered remaking it. To see such an accomplished filmmaker do such a crappy job was sobering, because I was really looking forward to his adaptation. I do understand it's a riveting story if you've never seen the original, but it's realized so poorly with plot holes the size of the Mariana Trench - although Scorsese had the original to guide him, so none of these plot holes were necessary. And to add insult to injury, he even received an Oscar for what I consider his worst job yet - simply because he'd long deserved one. Damn, I hate this dumbed down flick.
@dannyb9209
@dannyb9209 Год назад
Out of interest what plot holes are you referring to?
@Zorros2ndCousinTwiceRemoved
@@dannyb9209 Well, the good mole has only been on the street for a short while, not for years like in the original in which his rise was convincing. (What was it, six months? It's been a while.) The bad guys learn there's a mole, and they *don't* immediately point the finger to the new guy? In a couple of months both moles have a career that took ten years to achieve for both in IA. The cop boss gets murdered, and the *only guy* who knows the good mole's identity resigns just like that, and he doesn't give two sh§ts that he's the good mole's only hope for doing his job and proving his identity. And after having marooned the good mole (which contributes to his death), suddenly at the very end of the movie he comes back to have a big entrance, and somehow we're supposed to think, "Wow, cool job, bro, you're not a shitty person at all!" There were more, but as I said, I couldn't bring myself to watch The Departed more than once, and I did when it came out. And that's just the unnecessary inconsistencies the original avoided, but I think the problems go even deeper when you compare the two. Sure, Jack Nicholson's always delightful to watch, but he plays his usual exaggerated bad guy shtick and comes across as an entertaining caricature, but not as a believable big bad. Matt Damon's casting is much worse, though: We've seen this empty, unscrupulous, but shallow bad guy a thousand times. I can't even begin to tell you how fascinating Andy Lau's take on this character was, how much depth it brought to the table - and Scorsese used none of that although it was handed to him on a plate. The melancholy, the identity crises on both sides, resulting from playing a completely different person for ten frigging years, what that does to you and how it changes you? Absent. The history the mob boss and the cop boss had in the original which gave the story a whole new level? Absent. The moral gray area both moles negotiated, and in the end the lines between clearly good and clearly evil blurred? Absent. The temptations of the respective lives both moles had to play, how they slowly gave in to some? Absent. The clever, very subtle parallels between the plot and the idea of a buddhist hell? Absent. And to add insult to injury, there even was a completely pointless and clichéd "We're gonna get you!" scene between Sheen and Wahlberg and Nicholson, as if this was an eighties pre-prime-time serial. That's where I had to check if I was really watching a movie by the guy who'd given us GoodFellas, Casino, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, Mean Streets and Gangs of New York. The Departed is Infernal Affairs light - not only way less calories, but also considerably dumbed down and all in all so woefully much *less* than the original - which became an international breakout hit for good reason.
