Can't seem to find this one on here, the video is as great as the song. As I am a being from the future, copyright has expired on this music video in the time in which I live. (Yeah, that makes sense.)
For 11 years I couldn't listen to The Derailers. It was too hard, I'd break down crying, missing Austin and my old life. But on Tuesday for some reason I was able to listen to Full Western Dress and god I love this album. I miss Texas, and my old life and friends with all my heart, but I've gotta move on.
Timing in life is unforgiving, It's a shame they didn't make it bigger, but Country Music was filled with established and up and coming stars back then. We can only wish for talent and a sound like this in todays country.
My favorite country group with that Bakersfield Buck Owens sound !....I wish Tony would come back and they have a reunion !...You know they're great when Reba ask them to open for her on her tours !
I remember going to see them in Uhland back in the 90s and Tony would come by our table and talk to us. Always thought that was so cool. So good to see live.
I love the retro vibe these guys give off. P. S. I also love how they look more like 1940's Chicago gangsters in their three-piece suits. This Derailers lineup needs to make a comeback!
@steelguitarboy Damn strait The Derailers were the shit back when Tony was still with em He had one of the coolest voices and was an awesome songwriter I must have seen them 10 or more times back in those days!!!! They were always great to see live. I wish Tony was still writing and recording He was a true talent the late 90's and early 00's were a great time for cool retro Country
Same here. After hearing this song on CMT, I bought their older albums, no regrets there. I've been listening to their work on Jackpot and Reverb Deluxe albums recently. The band isn't the same without Tony. Totally get why he had to call it quits. The sky was the limit for the band if he did stay.
I never saw this music video on CMT because when I was a kid on cable it was GAC. Sadly not all music channels played the same music videos and there's one example I'll give you. Alison Krauss had a music video on CMT but not GAC at one point in 2002.
5-31-2010. He's full of glee at 43. Happy Birthday, Ed Adkins. I hope that The Derailers can come to my area and perform sometime (Colonial Life Arena, Columbia, SC).
@steelguitarboy Amen Brutha I was watching that crap on CBS and found my way to youtube searching for the Derailers I must have seen them 20 times during this time and got to meet and talk with Tony V many times I was really dissapointed when he left the band. But you are right Nashville should be ashamed the way they refuse to recognize traditional acts like the Derailers and even the Mavericks before them. they really dropped the ball with the Derailers these guys really had potental
Wikipedia says Tony left The Derailers to become a preacher. So Brian is the lead singer of the group now. The problem is that Tony was the voice of the group & he with Brian doing back up vocals is what made their songs work. Kinda like Buck Owens and his back up guy. A good combo. According to Wikipedia Brian is the only original member of The Derailers left.
The Derailers aren't around any more for the same reason that Dwight Yoakam isn't around anymore...Snow flakes have taken over Nashville! Have you listened to the music currently coming out of Nashville?
Dwight Yoakam IS still around, still touring, still recording and if you're interested I help admin a fan club on Facebook called, Dwight Yoakam.Club. Dwight also has his official Facebook page at Dwight Yoakam.
@hectorsalinasisback i totally agree, i absolutely LOVE their first few albums, especially "jackpot" and "full western dress", but once Tony left the group they fell apart. When Brian sang lead on some songs on the early albums he sounded great, but now its different somehow, i just dont like any of their new music now.
i am slowly getting into their music and just before this video was making plans to see one of their shows in ATX. I'm disappointed to hear it wont be the original singer. Does the new one sound similar?
what happened to the CALIFORNIA ANGEL video ?...i used to watch it, but can't find it !...i loved that tune and the video !.....sure would love to watch and hear it again so i can share it !.....i love THE DERAILERS ....because i'm a big Buck Owens fan...thanks !
@steelguitarboy The Derailers were one of the best country groups, but singer Tony V. left and the band has become a group of corny nerds. The only original member left in the band is Brian H., who is a great guitarist, but he should not use the name The Derailers, because it's very misleading. People still go to the shows expecting to see a completely different lineup and hear the great songs from the first 5 albums, but this new version of The Derailers isn't very good.
