In my opinion the FD is the most beautiful Japanese car of all time (I think only the Toyota 2000 GT and original Mazda Cosmo could really argue with that). The fact that it is also unique in its powertrain and, engine besides, is one of the best drivers cars perhaps ever built and I can't help but believe that they are profoundly under valued. If they had any one of the three they would be special, but combining it all together, and sprinkling in the fact that it has meaningful racing pedigree and I cannot understand how they aren't six figure cars already.

What's striking to me is how eyes wide open Rob is to the input from the designer, goes to show how much respect he has for trying to keep the strength and integrity of the original FD design. He's doing a full carbon body next, so probably wanted input for that as there were a few things rob himself wasn't happy about in the design, and he just got the answers he needed. ;) But ye it does look sick either way! :D

I love that guy I have watched a few videos with him and he always loves to talk about car design. I have always felt that the 3rd generation RX7 is the last mass production car designed by artists.

This is such a great video coming from "The Designer" himself instructing you for realizing your dream for this car. I love that he also gets annoyed at anything straight or flat lines lmfao. Japanese traits really kicks in from all of his perspective about the "Flow" where it is much peaceful at most in a Zen state in his idea of the design of the car.

I am so pumped just hearing you talk with the designer, I can't imagine how you feel getting his input. Fantastic.

I am not at all telling you what to do but if I were you after talking with him about the way the body looks and how you could do it on a computer I would just invite him to my computer and have him help me design it sitting right there together. I would love to see what RU-vid could create for the 4 rotor

--For the speedometer you've got running as digital and analog, with my very limited experience, I've found using gun oil works rather well with lubricating the gears and moving parts, keeping things running smoothly - but be careful not to over-lubricate it (I did it to mine, and had to clean it and start over). -Btw, If anybody else knows more about these, I'd love suggestions & advice on them as well~

The reason for the digital speed output from the mechanical gauge is for cruise control. There is generally just magnets on one of the gears in the gauge that cause the pulses. This meant none of the drive-train had to be redesigned to fit a speed sensor. The crazy thing is there are some early 90s stuff with mechanical gauges with digital outputs for cruise control, that also have ABS.

Just a history lesson Rob from a former rotary magazine writer: 767B - 20B 787B - 26B They attempted LeMans with the 767B but it wasn't powerful enough to compete with the Nissan R89C, Sauber C9 and the Jaguar XJR-9. Hence the swap from the 20B to the 26B. The rest is history, 787B wins in 1991. 👍

Older generations of us have such a wealth of knowledge, experience and passion, much of which can only ever be learned in person and through showing appreciation of the feats they have overcome and accomplishments they've achieved. you find and hold that knowledge that few will ever find and fewer still appreciate that knowledge. Really, I find the older someone is the more they can teach. Always revere these people because all of them can teach us more than we could have imagined. I really appreciated The segment in the video listening to the the older gentleman's wisdom🙏

Talking to the designer highlights a massive point about personal vision, in that it demonstrates that you're not going to "impress" a designer by compromising with their design when you adapt it. So cool to get such direct feedback in an honest and encouraging spirit, there wasn't a hint of criticism.
