Woolgorong Outcamp (sometimes known as Woolgorong OutStation) is on a nature reserve called "Ex" Woolgorong Station. It was originally an outcamp on the Mount Erin property which included the now known "Ex Woolgorong Station". Mount Erin station was bought by Mr Hubert Lee-Steere, or his father, in 1900. In 1903 it was sold to the Western Australian Government. The undeveloped area became known as Woolgorong Station with Mr H. Lee-Steere stocking it with sheep purchased from Mount Erin when it was sold and he set about developing it from his "headquarters" which is the present day Woolgorong Outcamp which is a small modest stone and mud dwelling. An outcamp is a dwelling some distance from the main homestead of a pastoral station and generally used when mustering or herding stock.
Hubert Lee-Steere moved the headquarters for Woolgorong Station to the present location of Woolgorong Homestead, in 1907. It's believed the reason for this relocation was to be nearer to a railway line.
Woolgorong Station was divided up into 28 "paddocks" and Woolgorong Outcamp is in the Square Well paddock, south of the Murchison River which runs through Woolgorong Station.
Oondamaroo "Jim" Dingo (Dec.), Yamatji, and Maternal Grandfather to Mullewa's well known Ernie Dingo, Yamatji, is recorded as having worked as a station hand on Wollgorong Station in 1942.
Woolgorong Pastoral Lease is on the Traditional lands of the Mullewa Wadjari, Wajarri Yamatji, Widi peoples.

I stayed at this beautiful station years ago. So sad to see it fall into ruin after CALM took it over.

Hi just found your channel and subscribed. Interested to know what type of containers are on you roof, right hand side, are they 3 fuel containers? What brand?

Hi duncanm6589 The containers are a brand called RotopaX rotopax.com/ These take 7.5 litres of fuel (petrol or diesel) each but I can get 8 litres into each comfortably. They where brought because the size of them allows them to sit almost level with the lip of the roofrack as I didn't want to increase wind resistance anymore than I have to. They are expensive though at AU120.00 each some 8 years ago. Also they can be hard to source in Australia but I believe worth it for what I wanted to achieve.
