As a fellow eastern European - I was born in Hungary - I can only concur about the ironing. My parents to this day iron my underwear when I go visit them :) Beauty isn't everything - but I think it is a matter of self love/self worth to present oneself "put together". Beauty to me is not about looks - it has way more to do with kindness, humility, charm, charisma and confidence. There are far too many 'beautiful' people in todays world that are nothing more than a pretty shell. I very much enjoyed this video. You are a beautiful woman.

As a greek yes ironing is crazy they even iron towels LOL after I moved to the US I was so excited to see we have dryers. I still iron stuff but not as much as I would if I lived in Greece still.

My fabulous mama (who passed away last month) also ingrained ironing everything into me! She was like your mama who would not allow us to go in public with wrinkled clothing! If somehow my clothing got wrinkled in my closet after she had ironed it and put it away, that clothing was steamed before I left the house! 😂 I do that to this day and I knew my son had found the right woman when she also ironed everything before wearing it! 😂

You made me think of my mother who passed in 2009. I love to wear black clothing and when I would wear something black around my mother, she'd always come at me with a lint brush and while rolling it over my clothing she would say "black picks up everything but a man!" Still love wearing the color black and as I have 3 cats, I have lint brushes stashed around my house to use in a pinch. As usual, loved your video!!

Hi Andreea!☺️ When you put your hands under the UV-lamp make sure that you wear gloves to protect your skin from the Uvrays!! It’s the same concept from the other Uvrays for the rest of skin! Take a simple plasticglove..cut the fingertip and put it on bevor you start manicure! Especially if you make it every 14 days! A hug from Italy!♥️

I have always done my own Gel ( CND shellac) mani’s as I find so relaxing- I use an LED lamp ( never UV) and it looks like manicurist brand uses LED to cure as well, which is the safer way to go. I still use SPF 50 on hands and bought fingerless UV gloves on Amazon , and always wear when using my lamp- cannot be too careful-esp when it comes to skin cancer! Btw, I also keep a pair of the gloves in car and wear when driving, biking, out walking… am in my 60’s and do all I can to prevent aging hands , especially since we didn’t know these things “ back in the Dark Ages! I also do a whole routine on hands nightly …

I totally agree with everything you said in this video! I am half Italian and half Hungarian and from the Southern US. We ironed everything as well. There is nothing worse than looking disheveled and unclean. The old quote goes" you only get one chance to make a first impression" and caring for yourself is the way to do it.

Yes!!! Mi Mommi y tias! Planchar! Planchar! Todo! It is a culture. In the same way, my mother would not let us leave home without ironing your clothes. Yes, bedsheets, doilies, etc. There are still some people who really appreciate the fine habit or quality to iron. My mother made a living on ironing clothes. The wives in the neighborhood would bring their husbands shirts to my mom. Soooo many shirts! I loved the smell of fresh clean clothes being ironed. It was a special time actually between my mom and I. Closely watching her as she explained every detail of the shirt. Today I might do what I can, but such busy lives it’s tough to try to keep that routine. Thank Andreea for including that in, very important ! Take care.

I loved this list so much! Totally agree with the teeth advice; I felt amazing after I just straightened my teeth, but now years later after not keeping my retainer-wearing up and dental hygiene up, I’m definitely self conscious about my teeth! It effects how I talk, laugh, smile. So important to keep it up and I’m definitely going to invest in them again! Also, ironing - who would have thought! My husband always irons but I’ve always liked a ‘worn’ non-ironed look 😅 I can definitely see the benefits of ironed clothes now though ❤

I watch so many of these videos and everyone focuses on the make-up, but it doesn't matter what amazing products you put on your face, your biggest asset is your smile, and it's no good if you've got awful teeth. I am the same as you, if I could advise anyone younger than me, I would say to prioritize your tooth care, it's very important.

My mom was German and she ironed everything including underwear and handkerchiefs. Your absolutely correct about clothing looking better and more expensive when you iron them. I see people all the time wearing clothes that look like someone rolled them up in a ball. Both my daughter's got braces as teenager's and it's not just about looks, but for health reasons as well. Sometimes a person's mouth is over crowded with teeth causing overlapping and misalignment that can lead to increased tooth decay and cavities. Working as a nurse also meant short nails and no shellac or gel manicures allowed due to potential for fungus and bacteria under the nails.

Eastern Europe, Croatia: by the advice from my favourite beauty and lifestyle RU-vidr, I bought an iron. THE iron. Laura Star. Apart from my pro photography gear, that's the most expensive toy I own. My mom ironed sheets, underwear, undershirts, hankies, everything. Mrs. Johnson, a neighbor of ours did too. When I was 6 or 7, Mrs. Jonson taught me to iron small things, again..underwear, hankies, pillow cases and paid me 10 cents each time I did half an hour of her ironing. In the mid-sixties, 10 cents felt special to a 6 year old. My husband doesn’t iron and when he puts on a rumpled shirt I tell him “you are not going anywhere with me looking like that”. If he paid me $10 (low price based on inflation) to do it for him, I would. I learned long ago that my time doing something for someone who could do it themselves, has a value. 😊

I am from a Louisian Cajun French family. My grandmother was a tailer. She taught us all to sew, making and mending clothing, embroidery, without modern day patterns. We learned to cut from body measurements. The laundry was done on the back porch until the mid sixties. Maintaining clothing was also a big thing with us. I iron everything I put on. I used to iron my sheets, but it just isn't possible with age related body mechanics. We also learned we had to brush out teeth three times a day. Never go out without polish on your toes and your nails should always be clean and manicured. The only makeup she ever wore was powder, rouge, and lipstick. You have restored my faith that some people still know and do the finer things of self care and presentation.

Bonjour Andrea, I'm french and live in the US now. French don't always take good care of their teeth lol. Because my mom used to iron weekly, I'm used to even my tee shirts and napkins to be wrinkle from. Sunday is my ironing day . I'm also, religious about my hair but like it a bit scruffy on the weekend. Since moving to the USA, I love getting my nails done and had invisilign. Now I'm stuck with retainer at night. But you are right, those things make us a bit more confident. I don't hide my smile anymore. 😅

You are so elegant and I love your content. When I was a child I used to love watching my mom getting ready for church on Sundays (the only day of the week she wore makeup). Yes, pretty privilege is a thing and the person who gives it to you the most is yourself through your own confidence. ❤

I am ethnically Tatar (Eastern European) from Uzbekistan who lives in the US and I started ironing my clothes since I was 6 years old. We ironed everything down to underwear. Towels, bedding, socks, etc. Even plastic bags! We reused plastic bags until it fell apart. We would wash them and iron under cloth on a very low setting! Can you imagine how environmentally responsible that is?))) But yes, I'm glad, we were not the only ones who did that. Lol. Another thing that I pay attention to are shoes. It doesn't have to be expensive, but it has to be clean, polished (if it's leather) and brushed (if it's nubuk).

So agree with all the points in your video! I never used to iron, then I had my second baby and something changed in me where all of a sudden I had to iron EVERYTHING! My steam iron is one of my favourite things 😂 I'd love to know what your nighttime hair routine is to keep your hair looking good when curled or straight? I style my hair and the next day it looks like I've been dragged through a bush backwards! I've just ordered a Silk pillow and a Silk bonnet in the hope this will help, I'd love to know what you do that means your style can last longer than a day and still look good!
