The Detectives (1959-62) original first/second season close 

Great show and the best theme music ever.

This was the *BEST* lineup of *THE DETECTIVES* : *ROBERT TAYLOR, as Matt, TIGE ANDREWS, as Johnny, RUSSELL THORSEN as Otto, and MARK GODDARD as Chris* Replacing Otto with Adam West in Season 3 was a MISTAKE !!

*THE DETECTIVES* was on the *SAME* NETWORK *ABC*, filmed by the *SAME* production company *FOUR STAR*, and by the SAME production team, *LEVY-GARDNER-LAVIN* , that produced *THE RIFLEMAN* and *THE BIG VALLEY*. ALL 3 SHOWS were *HITS* !! *PLUS* ...Robert Taylor's EX-WIFE, *BARBARA STANWYCK* starred in *THE BIG VALLEY!!*

The Detectives had probably the most catchy TV theme of any television show. American or British

Procter & Gamble also co-sponsored "THE REBEL" on ABC's Sunday night schedule at the time {Liggett & Myers, for L&M, was the "alternate sponsor"}.

I would buy all of these if they came out on DVD!

Procter and Gamble(Tide) also brought us, "The Rifleman" on the same network(ABC)

William Fawcett and Roger Mobley were among those regular cast members in "Fury" with Peter Graves and Bobby Diamond.

Seasons ONE and TWO rank as one of the BEST police series EVER !!! Season THREE was also good, but the replacement of RUSSELL THORSON (Otto) with Adam West , and the jazzed-up 3rd season opener and closing sequence brought things down a bit.... (not as good) The SECOND SEASON cast (Robert Taylor, Tige Andrews, Russell Thorson, & Mark Goddard) was the BEST !!!

WHEN is THE DETECTIVES coming out on DVD ???
