I’ve had to take insulin for over 50 years. If I could go to Fantasy Island, I’d like to have a weekend where I could have no need of insulin, and could eat whatever they offered.
Jesus Christ! I dont know how many times i´ve seen comments like this on mediocre shows from the 70´s. We now live in a golden age of great adult dramas. Have you heard about streaming services? Shows like The sopranos, Breaking bad, Sons of anarchy, Catch 22 and Game of thrones and dozens more that have better scripts then any modern hollywood movie? People could only dream about shows like that in the 70´s. TV in the 70´s were terrible. Now its awesome
Oh that Debonaire man. Mr Rourke..even enchanted me, as a child..always managed to mesmerize me somehow...so charming..so gentlemanly, so classy, so mysterious..so...so!..😊. He always knew so much about the boarding passengers.. 'always fascinated me..😚.
Speaking of that Debonaire Man.. Mysterious to all with thee exception of “Her” She knew the many mask he wore, she was mesmerized somehow, what a chivalrous gentleman he was. Did I mention how she enjoyed watching? Fantasy island?? 🤍🌹🖤😊
I do a great impression of tattoo.and its got me alot of laughs over the years. Thank you fantasy island and thank you Hervé Villechaize. God bless you sir
I was probably only 8 years old, but I always found Fantasy Island slightly scary, ominous. Some guest's stories were actually quite frightening, especially when Rork went up against Satan himself!!!
I'm shocked to even see this story..as i, too, was a child when this originally aired.. Years later, I'm intrigued..to see what happened in an episode..i never knew even existed. Given, as a child, i never kept track of what episodes were available or not...as it was usually family time, sitting down and watching these episodes together..man..that was a thousand years ago..it seems..another lifetime ago..that's for sure!...too busy just bein' a kid, obvlivious and lovin' it!..
Jeez!!😳 I haven't seen this since grade school. It does recount memories of when now classic TV shows ruled the airwaves. 2 late, great actors who've long passed on to that big Hollywood in the sky. R.I.P. Ricardo and Roddy☺
Plenty of water around Fantasy Island. Maybe she can make one phone call and those two meet with a swimming accident in the ocean. Oh !! Forget about it.
Many people in the 'States are hooked on the fantasy of 'making it' and that they, too, are only a few drinks away from the Big Time and from being up there with the likes of Bezos and Gates.
I wonder if Donna and Brett Halsey reminisced about working on Love Is A Many Splendored Thing? They would have been in-laws, though Halsey was only on the show towards its end.
I cant believe I used to watch this back in the day. Even more unbelievable is that I just watched this episode from start to finish, and Im gonna watch another 😁👍 As lame as 70s shows are, it sure makes me melancholy for 70s/80s TV shows, when there was nothing as scary goin on as there is now.
I always found this show to be magical and this one with Roddy McDowell and Ricardo Montalban going head to head proves my point, WONDERFUL EPISODE!!! GARYBAILEY KINGOFDARKNESS I do love this episode with Roddy playing the good guy again, love again wins out!!! Wow and what a lovely Lady she is!!! GaryBailey 🍀💚🐉🗾
Roddy McDowell was quite an interesting person. What beautiful eyes he had. He was in Planet of the Apes with Charlton Heston, Escape from the Planet of the Apes, Battle for the Planet of the Apes, Beneath the Planet of the Apes and the Planet of the Apes TV series. He was a child actor and was into preserving movies . Can't remember if it was old movies.
This is "The Chain Gang/Boss" from season 3. The Devil and Mandy Breem is from season 4 and the Devil and Mr Roarke is from season 5. . . .Only thing connecting these episodes is Roddy McDowall guest stars in them all.
These are lost gems to be treasured. Lost tv never to be seen again. Enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing. I still love this show. I was in high school when it came out. So I missed alot of the episodes encluding this one. Love Roddy McDowall. "Planet of the Apes" kinda of guy. Lol!! Tv series he was on. Another lost gem.
FYI: this is not the episode with "The Devil and Mr. Rourke"! I appreciate anyone uploading episodes but this one was mistitled. This is still fun though!
This is why a lot of people in the 1970s and 1980s thought quicksand was everywhere. Even though that isn't quicksand, that is more of a mud-pit. Every other show in the 1960s through the 1980s had a quicksand episode.
9:55 Many people don't know this but Herve was actually a very talented artist. He was also an incessant womanizer on the set of Fantasy Island. There were many times where his womanizing almost got him fired.
It always amazed me how Mr Rourke and tattoo knew when to arrive at the right time when the guest was imperil and how fast they could get across that the island
Not really. In several episodes the doors within Mr. Rourke’s office could lead to anywhere/anyplace/anytime. It would be save to assume that Mr. Rourke and Tattoo would use these doors to instantly travel to anywhere on the island to help his guests. I would assume that he uses something similar to keep an eye on all his guests. That is unless you believe the fan theory that Mr. Rourke is either God or works for God and thus has omnipotent powers.
This was a brilliant concept for a tv show having celebrity guest for each episode. I'm surprised they haven't tried to do a modern day version. To think what they could to with it now.
I don't want them to rest, they are Eternal Beings. I want then to return and do more fabulous entertainment for us. No one wants to sit on a cloud for all eternity. That's why we keep getting in line to return.
What a coincidence to see actor "R.G. Armstrong" in this episode "The Devil And Mr. Rourke" because he played Sheriff Taylor in "Race With The Devil" and the ill fated garage attendant in "Children Of The Corn"
What's actually puzzling me a bit about Fantasy Island is the question how much of the events and situations on the island was real and how much of it all was imagined or just played out as a dream by the powers of Mr. Roarke. When characters travelled to a strange location, another time or something like that, everything there seemed to fade at the end of the guest's fantasy. But if someone signed a contract or lost money while on the island, that was still legitimate, a real contract or real money. People got jobs and entered legal agreements all the time while on the island, so it wasn't always just fantasies.
@@acr08807Accoding to the actor mr roarke as the fans knew all along was not human but an angel who was kick out when his ego grew too large btw where was his brother lucifer u know the one who was piss off when god make us like his brother has a large ego
I remember this episode as a very small child because i was scared as hell when those horns grew out of dudes head. This show would be great to come back out ! Cast Antonio bandera as mr rourke or Selma hyak to play that role .
@@stevenpatrick77 Hi. I am saying that the freak leftists who write and produce television shows now will ruin anything good that they try and remake. They will inject everything from climate change to critical race theory to sexual deviancy to Marxist politics. Trust me. This show had it's day. It's better off resting in peace in our memories as we knew it instead of being exhumed and desecrated. Seen what they did to Star Trek lately? They infect and ruin everything they touch.
@@tyharris9994 (it's 'message t.v.' now, rather than just the inane, 'switch-off-your-brain' stuff churned out back then by the t.v. moguls like Spelling and which hit the spot with the little people who'd just got home from breaking rocks and going nowhere in the real world and who just wanted to crash-out on the couch with a couple of cans, blotting out all the rottenness of everyrhing for an hour or two with this mental anaesthetic).
This guy runs an island resort where he can grant anyone any fantasy they want in any place and time period they choose...and Roarke's penchant for being wherever he's needed whenever he's needed is what concerns you most...?!?!?
It must be awful for a once-prominent Hollywood actor to know that he/she/it is washed-up and can only find work doing 'guest appearances' on t.v. dreck.
chris1pugsley- actually Herve Villachaize was an accomplished artist. He was trained at a prestigious Paris art academy (the French equivalent to Juliard I'm told) and he was actually able to make a modest living in the 60s painting. Then he moved to the US and was cast in the man with the golden gun and the rest is history..😎
Back when this show was on, I was either in college or in the military, so I never watched it. So, RU-vid is basically "time-shifting" the show 46 years for me... Damn, makes me feel old...
My one and only trip to the Hawaiian islands was to Kauai, last year. I watched this show all the time as a kid, but had no idea until today that the opening credits showed the island! (Apparently, the rest was filmed in California, lol.)
This isn't the devil and mr. Roarke because in this one Roddy McDowall who played in a few episodes or couple of these episodes as the devil here he plays good guy in a woman's fantasy and he is not the devil but her love interest, which is very interesting because Roddy McDowall was in fact a gay actor, the most interesting thing about him was that no one in Hollywood or who ever acted with him, ever had a bad thing to say about him which is kind of interesting considering Hollywood always has gossips( and others) that you know always have something bad to say about somebody. Apparently Roddy McDowall is the only man in Hollywood or rather who work in Hollywood, from the time of the Hollywood System with people like Elizabeth Taylor for example & toward the end of the 20th century... when he died it is said that no one had a bad word to say about him, the other irony is the fact that he was gay, never came out as such, even though this was known it was called an Open Secret. This shows how one actor could be so respected that the fact that he was gay was kept out of the press and never brought up in public which is how he wanted it. This as a general rule couldn't happen today but maybe this is because it doesn't matter what your sexual orientation is you can be as open as you want about it, the fact that there are still people want to keep what their sexual orientation is to themselves it's not a bad thing either and it shows that if people respect you enough they'll keep that secret too. Sometimes a person wants a Private life to be just that Private.
I like Fantasy Island a lot, but I don't think I want to watch something with the evil one in it. It could open the doors for the evil one to do harm & I don't want to take a chance of that happening. I don't know if that would happen or not, but I rather be safe than sorry. Another one I didn't watch was the one with a ghost. But, thank you for the upload anyways.
Mr Rourke...aka Jesus Enrico Rossas - the body language guy. I can't stop visualising him every time Rourke speaks! 😂If you haven't seen him look him up on RU-vid. He has the same voice, accent and mannerisms! Lol!
1) Did The Love Boat ever call at Fantasy Island? That would have been a great crossover! 2) Is Fantasy Island a division of.....Westworld? Is Tattoo a "host?" Is Mr. Roarke?
There was a 2-hour crossover event: Loni Anderson was on Love Boat, but didn’t have a happy ending, so she requested to be dropped off at Fantasy Island. Yes, it was the guest making the crossover, but that’s how it went down.
Do all the female guest stars share the same wardrobe _definitely all their gowns are the same coral-color fabric_ OR maybe they got a bargain roll and that's why they're all the same color 🤔 (All their costumes are certainly cut from the same roll of fabric.) Just seems odd when all else seems perfect. You always know who the heroine is going to be each episode.
