I love this song and this group!! Saw them of the great web site NO DEPRESSION and now I'm hooked. Great harmonies and oh so clever lyrics Makes me happy!
I've seen these folks 4 times now and I can't wait to see them again. Some of the best shows I've ever been to hands down. Amazing musicians, people and shows. Do yourself a favor and drop 20 bucks and have a great night seeing these guys.
I agree - I saw them live and didn’t know who they were. I made a mental note about how awesome this song was, but when I listened to the album version I was like: I must have been really drunk cause this isn’t as good
@jjreid87 It functions to dampen and mute the harmonic tones that can come through from behind the bridge. Its also shoved under the tailpiece so it also helps mute the buzz/ rattling from that.
@@m0l367 because (I think) many modern songs are about drugs/sex/violence that lack soul, but this band brings back a classic rhythm (with soul) but with a newish message.
Now THIS is country/Western. This. Not that fucking bullshit that gets played on "country" radio stations these day. We need a little more action like this on the airwaves. Play on, gentlemen!
Lately things ain't been going my way Consequently I've been drinking nearly every day It's hard to keep your head up when they're knocking you down So I been making that all go round Drinking bottom shelf bourbon to ease my mind Seems to work alright 'til closing time But you know you're gonna come down every night And there ain't no way you'll ever feel satisfied Ain't that hard to figure where to begin It's Friday night so I'm rushing in Like a fool I get it anywhere I can Well I've been having a hard time Walking a straight line Seeing two of every single neon sign Well now you'll find me downtown Gracefully face down Just wishing I could feel alright Well lately I've been wanderin around with eyes closed It seems like I been heading down the wrong road Thought I'd find my way by now But I still got lost somehow Y'hear shots fall down from Heaven above You might lose a friend you might fall in love But you know you're gonna come down every night And there ain't no way you'll ever feel satisfied Six in the morning 'til your dying day It's straight bad news and bills to pay But come five o'clock you're feeling good again Well I've been having a hard time Walking a straight line Seeing two of every single neon sign Well now you'll find me downtown Gracefully face down Just wishing I could feel alright Well I been so high I hit my head on the ground Sat up on the floor seems the room spin around But when you squint real hard through the bottom of the bottle Things really don't look so bad You drink a cheap malt liquor from a 40 ounce bottle Swig some bourbon, some pills if you've got 'em But you know you're gonna come down every night And there ain't no way you're ever gonna feel satisfied There's years of my life I don't remember at all Like one Friday evening I can barely recall It was a sick situation in a bar room bathroom stall Well I've been having a hard time Walking a straight line Seeing two of every single neon sign Well now you'll find me downtown Gracefully face down Just wishing I could feel alright
@@tenenieldjoandthenightsist5109 Reminds me of when Marty Robbins said "People will tell you that that ain't country, but its country, it's just another holler!"
Love this to death, but damn how I wish it started at about 20 seconds....the "new fangled banjo" comment makes me cringe every time. I get that its radio...but still...ugh...sorry...rant over....
Is it just me, or does this Banjo remind anyone else of a Mandolin? Short fretboard, for strings (I know a mandolin has 8, but an open tuning is still 4 notes) and look at the bottom of the fretboard too, I have never seen a banjo like that. Anyone else?
@feabas1 indeed it would:) too many labels attached to things, just gets in the way of people simply enjoying something, like how these guys don't do drums to make good music, I've been doing drums for years.
who gives a fuck how an instrument's played if it's part of a tune that sounds as good as this? I'd play the piano with a pair of boxing gloves on if I thought I could make it sound good. Real punchy tune, probably.
@Campbell88guitar I don't see how it could change the sound all that much, maybe by muting the drum but I usually do that with my hand. Maybe it helps the stings stay on better, I'm not sure. It's probably just for looks though.
@ianzepp That is a 4 string tenor banjo, you play it with a pick. The 5 string banjo that this artist also plays, can be played with finger picks, bluegrass style or clawhammer frailing style.
No, I am not. I don't understand how me disliking banjos makes me a douche wad? I wouldn't think you were a scum bag for your music tastes, have a lovely day.
the last time i was so stuck up an artist ass was Elliott smith i just discovered these guys a few months ago and am absolutely in love with em i cant stop playing their tunes these guys are sooooo good love the darker kinda vibe some of their songs have they they definitely have a special flare to their bluegrass style
That's what I love about Bluegrass. You can literally find ANYTHING in this genre. Yes, even bluegrass rap (don't ask, I was embarrassed to have stumbled on it). These guys are great, and they've got a really cool story, too.
What an awesome Jam! Great band! It's nice to know this type of music, that was once so pivotal in our history, is being kept alive and well by real musicians!
