Obviously he did at some point in his life because how else do you explain him recording demos after MMC and songs like Give Into Me by himself before Nsync and then record a whole album by himself after Nsync? I think he genuinely has convinced himself that he is not good enough to go solo :(
@kiaba360-4
@kiaba360-4 7 месяцев назад
@@wegotit2587 I think JC's ideal creative process is collaborative, hence why he doesn't feel like a "Solo" artist. MMC was also very collaborative. Some of his best moments on that show is where he's sharing the spotlight with others. "Give In To Me" was co-written by JC and fellow MMC members Tony Lucca and Dale G. Blaque's "Bring it All To Me" was actually supposed to be a JT feature, but JC filled in for him because he was filming a movie. The other possible reason is that JC wanted to repay Left Eye's favor for featuring on "Space Cowboy" which JC wrote. Even "Schizophrenic" was encouraged by Dallas Austin whom JC was collaborating with on "Blowin Me Up (With Her Love)". It's possible that JC developed some insecurities about his skill/talent due to what happened with "Schizo" and "The Story of Kate", but there's an element of truth in JC implying that being a solo artist wasn't the end-all be-all for him. He just wanted to sing, produce and create music.

I'll trade anything, and I mean ANYTHING... just to go back to the 90's to just relive NSYNC years... so I can spend a few more years seeing JC perform, sing and drown in the songs he wrote... JC is so so humble... it's so crazy he thought he's not a good writer... cos his songs always touches me in ways no other songs could... and he does it so effortlessly...

JC was always the lead singer of Nsync. Justin was second lead (even though he now claims they were both “co-leads”). Also, JC DID initially want to go solo first (the single he did for Blaque for example). He was trying to go R&B as far back when MMC ended in the mid 90s. It was Justin who convinced JC to join Nsync. Even as JC was trying to do some solo stuff in the late 90s, management and the record companies wouldn’t let him because they felt to them a White boy doing R&B and Ballads wasn’t a “selling” point. Ironically now days it’s mainly White boys (both Justins included) do nothing but TRY to emulate R&B/Hip Hop, taking credit for the talented Black Producers whose sound and styles they REALLY feed off of.

I don't know whether I'm suprised or not but JC lacks alot of self confidence, and it's a pity cause we all know he could've been so much more than Justin. I was suprised when he said from nsync he realised he doesn't like being solo and he was constantly saying that he wants to be "a nice person" throughout the podcast, when he is. Idk I just wanna hype him up, he should think so much more of himself than he does.

I'll add in my two cents here... as a HUGE JC fan, and a lifelong professional musician, and as of recently, now singer/songwriter, I have to say I actually completely understand why he's so self-conscious about his writing. I mean, his album basically failed. It may not have been his fault (it wasn't!!), but as an artist, you're always your own worst critic. And honestly, when you're on your own instead of with a group, there's no one there to share the burden if a project Does fail; and he was Completely on his own, literally even the record label wasn't even supporting him. Not only that, but if you're doing all or most of the writing on an album, and it doesn't succeed commercially, it doesn't Matter whose fault it is that it didn't fail; the internal message is still, "you suck, go away, no one likes what you did here", and nothing hurts more than that. Songwriting is such an intimate process, and to step out, take a chance, put everything you have out there for the world... and then it doesn't work out... some personality types don't just get up and say, "let's do it again!", especially introverts. We're more prone to sitting and thinking about the things we might've done wrong or that went wrong no matter whose fault it was, rather than just cranking out another album. All that being said... I, too, would give almost anything to hear another album from him - but with a PROPER LABEL AND PROMOTION THIS TIME! KTHXBYEEEE

It’s pretty sad. I think he’s been beat up by the industry and probably insecure about his lack of solo success that a lot of people “bet on” so to speak. It’s gotta be hard bumping into people asking you things like “why didn’t you make it?!” Etc etc😒

@TheJulienne21
@TheJulienne21 3 года назад
@@AlexLopez-bm6eh that's not the reason. Stop making it out like the songs in his post-NSYNC era are a failure. A lot of them were great. The reason it wasn't as popular was because it wasn't him. And he was sold short by his management as they didn't give him their utmost support, not to what he actually wanted to do, and just produced crappy songs for him. He has written great songs over time, and continues to produce music to other artists. Of course not ALL of his written songs are gonna be great, all producers and writers experiences that. Not to mention, he didn't give himself a second chance to try again. A lot of group members who are newly experienced solo artists doesn't get recognition from the moment they debuted, it's not unheard of. But some of them gets their second chances because they just produce new music after new music and finally gets that break. He valued his privacy more and quit that's why he never reached his full potential. But none of his past albums and endeavors makes him a failure. Not at all. He was great, but didn't get that break because he just stopped.

Bring in Da Noise was on the Disney Channel Original movie The Other Me starring Andy Lawrence during the lunchroom dance scene... but it's no longer the song used for this scene, Disney changed it.. probs because NSYNC got so big that it doesn't make sense that this small Disney Channel movie features an NSYNC song. I hate the new song on it. And Space Cowboy was on the movie "Space Cowboys" starring Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, and other greats of Hollywood.

Almost as wild as hearing Lance Bass do an ad-read.
@reflectionist
@reflectionist 9 месяцев назад
It's wild how well they kept the Lou Perlman thing under wraps -- I knew there was something going on and that the guy was really shady, but I didn't know that these guys were living that, 'If he wins rights to the name, we're done," kind of fear. I mean, everybody loves to talk about No Strings Attached, but I wonder if this kind of stuff had an effect on Celebrity. I've seen Chris do a lot of interviews from this year, and he always talks about how weird it was for these guys to be that age and be hit with "STATUS" like that, and not know what to do with it, and kind of playing it by ear, but being scared shitless the whole time, being lied to and used by opportunistic assholes, screwing with your financial income, etc. The whole "No Strings Attached" theme feels like it's a bit more nuanced and layered than it did when that album was new - talking about making contracts and having the rug pulled out from under you, and having that "Yes, but..." aspect where there are definitely strings attached, and Nsync never wanted them to be. So, yeah. I wonder if / how that had any effect on the writing and production of "Celebrity" - particularly with the Pop single. I mean, I know the story about it being influenced by people questioning the legitimacy of the group as if it weren't credible, but it's not difficult to pick THAT aspect up. Seeing if it goes further than that intrigues me.
@reflectionist
@reflectionist 9 месяцев назад
Okay, part of the reason I'm interested in hearing what an "NSYNC 202X" album would sound like is because NSA launched on March 21, 2000, and Celebrity launched on July 24, 2001. We live in a completely different world, now. All of that was before 9/11 happened. It was okay to be a little careless, but if you went back and actually read through some of the lyrics to NSYNC songs, there's a lot that I don't know if you could get away with, now. And that's not a, "Lance won't sing about titties anymore," thing. It's closer to watching older James Bond movies... after a long, long time. Out of nowhere, the dude will just slap a woman on the ass and tell her to go away so the men can talk, and you're like... HOLY SHIT, I don't remember James Bond being THIS grapey. Dude needs to slow his roll or he's gonna end up like Harvey Weinstein or Bill Cosby... And you're sitting there, listening to It's Gonna Be Me... and that first verse is talking about how she's had bad experiences with guys, she's been cheated on, she's been left, she can't trust anybody, and she's close to just swearing off men entirely... and the chorus comes in and just... GASLIGHTS the shit out of the poor lady. Literally, "You've had X happen, you've had Y happen, you've had Z happen... and for some reason I'M STILL NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR YOU? I'm not like those other guys!" And then the second verse comes in like, "You know what? Fuck it. You don't have a choice anymore, you're dating me before you get too old to be unattractive. I said that you're going to date me, and I don't know what part of that you don't understand... What, are you deaf AND blind?" Anybody? EDIT - Actually, now that I'm thinking about it... there are a few songs where they're almost 20 years ahead of the pronoun game. You have your "I Thought She Knew," and "Girlfriend," there's always the ad-libs that could be... re-ad-libbed. But a lot of the songs get around it by having them be about "you" and "me" and not "she" and "her". And that feels like it would be a writing decision that covers all the bases without being pejoratively labelled as "woke" because the very concept of LOVE doesn't really have a whole hell of a lot to do with chromosomes. You generally don't write love letters to a vagina to begin with... you write love letters to someone you love.
