I get that this is how North America (canada/usa) run their "soccer" program but they'll never be able to catch up to the rest of the world in this sport, is not coincidence that they couldn't qualify for the world cup in easiest qualifying region in the world and that the MLS ends up being a retirement home for pros around the world. I get studies are important but if you are gonna denied a talent because he has bad attitude or bad grades then USA soccer will always stay where it is. Imagine a Messi Maradona Ronaldinho or Neymar born in the USA, they would probably fall thru the cracks because of circumstances outside the sport.
@gofishglobal7919
@gofishglobal7919 6 лет назад
Tailong What you say here is what many people *want* to believe. But, the reality is that the soccer players are getting better and better in the US. The MLS is not only top-playing retirees. It's a business. And, as long as some rich owner wants to win, more and more money will be spent to het the best coaches and players from around the world. Look at Atlanta United. Their coach is Tata Martino who was the coach of Argentina and had recently coached Barcelona. Their team is made up of young excellent internationals from South America and Europe. It's just a matter of time before the MLS catches up with the Premiership, the Bundesliga and eventually, La Liga, which is the best in the world.
@AP-bo1if
@AP-bo1if 6 лет назад
Miles, that is nonsense. the only thing that MLS is getting better at is purchasing players from abroad. if you really want to change American soccer, fire every single person working in this industry and start from scratch. these idiots have no clue how to recognize talent, how to produce talent, how to produce teams, etc...soccer in North America is mostly a scam to take your money. and that is a fact.

We value our education system here more than any other nation and it will stay that way forever. Unfortunately we don’t have another system that will allow players to go pro without the need of college. This will surely change in the next 10-15 years as more money is dumped into the US. However, if you have a bad attitude you shouldn’t be playing. Maintaining grades and having a good attitude is a big indicator on the kind of person you are. Sure, there are exemptions like maybe a player isn’t exactly that smart or he needs more help but it’s no reason they should not be getting decent grades. And there’s no excuse for a bad attitude. Diego Costa and Neymar might be cunts on the pitch, but outside of it I can assure you they have the mentality/right attitude it takes to lead their teams and be at the highest level.

I'm I need to say 2 things. 1: you can talk about what needs to be done all day but it really comes down to money at the end of the day. Being in an academy or having early access to professional training programs is just a huge advantage. This is just how us soccer is. I got my headstart playing in another country so when I came back they treated me like I was better than others and I got more offers it just shows what's fundamentally wrong with the US when it comes to soccer. 2. This may seem contradictory to my previous statement but bare with me. The only thing limiting your chances are your willingness to seek out and really try to get on teams and improve. The college method isn't available for everyone especially if you didn't get a scholarship and aren't particularly wealthy. You will need the amateur method and here teams can't be promoted but players can be picked up. The problem is if you goto MLS or move up in leagues your growth will be stunted anyway or stagnant. There's no promotion and so teams stagnate the top teams and even some of the lower teams may be good but there are some amateur and USL teams that are better than the so called league one teams. If you really are passionate about it seek out teams improve daily no slacking. And try out to teams look up teams to get on and try to improve.

what is your opinion on the ussa DA for youth players..We had a bad season with kids and coaching..Me i found it to be a money scam for the club..alot of people feel the same..down here in florida we dont have high school soccer and we must play at a competive club..My son is a u13 player who is a really special player..we dont want to play on the Da anymore..to expensive and i dont see any differance in training ....what do you recommmend for later as he gets closer to college...? when you said attitude over the best player hit the nail on the head..we had alot of little neymars" sarcasm " last season on our team who played for themselves...that seemed what they liked at our club...these coaches are suppose to be A license coaches ..
@SimplySoccer
@SimplySoccer 5 лет назад
It's an unfortunate situation in the US right now and it is vastly different to other football cultures. I would say the best thing to do as far as your sons personal development is to make sure he is training individually and even better would be to get a personal trainer that can work with him. It is very important to be in a team environment and playing matches, but more of the individual growth will come from the personal training that he does. Start looking for another club if that feels right. Having a license doesn't necessarily mean a coach is good. It certainly helps, but it's like anything else. A school teacher has the credentials but not all school teachers are great at what they do for example. The individual training is what I would recommend having your son double down on, and again, if there is a one on one coach down there you can hire, that will speed up the process.

@notoriousmaddox4105

The coach forgot to mention that roughly half of a college team is comprised of international players. The opportunity for US players to compete is quite tough, considering that the international prospect is an “attractive” one. College soccer is extremely direct, with technical attributes taking the backseat to physical ones. College coaches only look at players at “showcase” tournaments that are quite expensive to play in. ID camps are also often a sham to take in money for their program. I’ve been to several where the coaches mixed up the players in the camp or hardly even watched. Even if a great player emerged who was poor and needed the few hundred or thousands of dollars required to be “seen” by coaches, that player still might not receive a chance. If you don’t have the money in the US, you basically have no chance of making it at a “high level” within the country. If you want to be great, play abroad.

Amazing video! However, i disagree with the “speed of play” getting faster as you go up the ranks. I’m from Australia, and although we aren’t international stars, we play a very very fast game at semi-pro levels, you can even see this to an extent in the A-League. Our football is very very fast and physical, which i think could be a weakness, because we carry that mentality into pro-leagues where you have to be much more calculated and concise with your decisions. That’s just my two cents, i’d be interested to hear your thoughts :)
@SimplySoccer
@SimplySoccer 6 лет назад
Hey man! I understand, but understand that speed of play includes speed of thought. It's the ability to not only play quickly if needed, but to know what to do faster and faster. I created a video on this that goes into a little more depth which you can find here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-v8jQ_bzZUPY.html Yes, if you play so fast that you are losing the ball and making rash decisions, that is a weakness. But a player that can think quick, play quick, And has the presence of mind to know when to slow it down, is a high level player usually.

JCFlyingV98 the speed of play between a semi pro level and pro is vastly different, the more technically gifted players can keep the ball for long periods of time so it might look like lower levels are more physical and faster but that's not the case, thats why you almost never see a bad touch going unpunished on pro levels. If you ever saw Nike's academy series, you'll see what I mean, top teams youth system in Europe have almost no time on the ball there is almost no dribbling, 99% is one touch play.

Can you become pro by playing College Soccer? What I mean is, could you be an MLS player by playing college soccer.
@SimplySoccer
@SimplySoccer 5 лет назад
Absolutely! If you're in a good D1 school and play really well, you can make the draft where you'll be drafted directly into an MLS team. There is also the super draft. However, regardless of what division you play in during college, you can still get trials for pro teams and make a pro team after. One huge way is to make many connections in college. I was offered a pro contract from a lower team in the states because I got a trial for them through my college coach and then did well at the trial.

I just turned 18 never touched a ball before I was 15. Never had anyone to play with learned by myself. I started playing with others for fun and quickly got better than people who have been playing their whole lives. I have yet to play on any kind of team and have little experience. I got invited to a local team after people watching me play. Everyone has told me I play great for starting late with no experience. My cousin is a professional playing for Necaxa FC (Mexico). My uncle was scouted by Guadalajara in the 60s but didn't have money to pay expenses. My dad played amateur at 12 represting at a national level traveling to Argentina and Colombia for games. I seem to be the late bloomer and the worst player historically I'm my family I'm small and skinny and weak. If I improve my mentality physical strength and game can I make it as a professional ? Most of my family although not being great players have made it to pro level. Is it too late to start at 18 I barely started taking this seriously ?
@pocketaces7113
@pocketaces7113 6 лет назад
It probably depends a variety of things, such as: have you got sufficient talent, can you dedicate the time to develop that talent and what you mean by professional. Most of these professional footballers start playing football very young, some being scouted at the age of 8. You get the occasional story where an adult gets scouted in the mid 20s and makes it to an extremely high level (Jamie Vardy) but that rare. I’m assuming you don’t mean to the “top” level. If you just play Football, enjoy it while wanting to develop your skills time will tell if you can go pro. Also, look for online football/soccer camps. I’ve seen a few advertised on Facebook they might be worth looking into (I have had no experience in them).
@pocketaces7113

Also, working on your fitness will work wonders for you. If you work on your aerobic abilities by going out on runs (5-10 miles and sprint training) then you’re already going to be a lot fitter than most people in your league (even at the top professional level)

Luke Lamb I'm not trying to make it to the highest level I just want to play football at a decent level. I'm speedy but im physically the biggest or strongest. Would you recommend I go to the gym to get a little bit bigger not to big but atleast so I can compete with people bigger than me? I've seen open trials for teams around the country in the NASL. I'm more of a winger or wide mid. I'm not a proven goalscorer although I can score I've only played on 1 team. I racked up like 17 assists and 12 goals in like 21 games. I mostly learned by playing with adults and people older than me. Before I try for anything I should get in shape, and train very hard first.?

No one likes an ego driven narcissist. Ego is ok to a degree... example Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Yes, but there is a difference between confidence and arrogance. Zlatan has confidence. He believes in his ability and he works hard to be as good as he is. someone who is arrogant believes they are entitled to things even when they don't put in the work. They believe they deserve something just cause.

Like Ronaldo calling himself the best player to ever live earlier this year when he's been outclassed by Messi his whole career lol. Not just talking statistics, but anyone with a clue that doesn't have some sort of bias will tell you Messi is in a class of his own. But yea my point is although I respect Ronaldo and he is a living legend I think he's a good example of an arrogant prick. Just my opinion.

College soccer has no place. Such a waste of youth talent. If you’re 17-22 and playing college soccer idk how you can go pro. The best talent in the U.S developed in Europe. Also this pay to play bs needs to stop. ID camps where you have to pay to participate is such a waste of talent. Every other country scouts out their players. You can be the poorest player and still get scouted as long as you have talent.

I mean there are players outside of Europe that get paid a lot of money and a lot of leagues with a relatively high level of play like some of the South American leagues and Liga MX and MLS. No doubt it's no where near the top european leagues in level of play or wages but no doubt they are true dedicated professionals. I get what you meant though.
@zinho9169

Also the EPL and La Liga are definitely not the only 2 elite leagues in Europe.

Amateurs are not good enough to get to college and people in college aren't good enough to play pro because if the college players were amazing they wouldn't be there they would be playing pro
