@@robertramsey9776 Tbf he played for GT most of his college career, and while I love the Jackets, it wasn't a place to thrive. He only had one season at Bama to show his skillset, and during that season people were saying he should have been given the ball way more
Both great, one is bigger, the other is faster, and both are shifty.. I will take the speed. As far as pass catching, Gibbs was Alabama's leading receiver. Gibbs did his work against better teams also.
I like how Gibbs is patient and lets holes develop. He also has the burst to shoot through those holes before defenders can close them. He seems to have good space awareness and can slip out of tackles. I worry a little bit about his size in regards to durability. I trust Brad Holmes, and I'm excited to see this upgraded team this year. Go Lions!
I think for the nfl teams their on now they will both be elite the falcons needed just a good elusive yet powerful back and the lions needed a speedy receiving back
Both are gonna be great rb’s but the Lions are gonna be good and will have one of the most exciting offenses in the league. They’ll have lots of prime time games next season…you can count on that🔥
I like Gibbs, but is he a future top 5 rb? Is a top 15 pick really worth a player that will provide similar value as tony pollard (different play styles, but comparable workloads). In order for a top 20 rb pick to work out, they need to be at minimum top 6 for 3 years which I just don’t see
@@tarvisson1989 Gibbs is better than Robinson because he is faster, more elusive, and a better pass receiving threat. Robinson was taken at 8, and Gibbs is better. I read that Gibbs was rated as a good choice at 6. So getting him at 12 and receiving the ability to draft an outstanding tight end at 34 with the trade down is fantastic. That is why Brad Holmes was slamming the table when Gibbs was selected. A famous top NFL Analyst said he is sure that Gibbs will have 2,000 receiving/run yards this season, and he believes Gibbs is better overall versus Robinson. A famous announcer/analyst and former player said the Lions had the best day one draft, and he cited selecting Gibbs as the key reason. Lastly, if Holmes and Dan Campell believe, with the great deal of first-hand information they have, that Gibbs is a great selection at 12, they are very, very likely to be correct. Regards, John
Gibbs has better breakaway track speed than Bijan. Bijan is definitely more squirrelly and better at absorbing contact when running between the tackles. Bijan definitely better suited to be a bell cow and imo a mix of Saquan + C-Mac. Gibbs is a better receiver, coming out of his breaks sharply, pulling ahead of safeties and linebackers, could be a legit slot receiver if he wanted to be. Gibbs-Kamara comparisons are well warranted.
@@jermaineparkman5263 absolutely. I was impressed by how skinny he got when he had to run between the tackles while the pocket got compressed. On his TD run vs the raiders, he was between the tackles and Crosby applied good pressure yet the defense still lost sight of him until he cut hard toward the right side pylon in the end zone. I previously said the Kamara comparison was apt, but there’s perhaps one slight difference - both of them have great contact balance; however Kamara sort of ping pongs off of contact whereas Gibbs spins out of contact. I think this was evident right from opening night vs the chiefs, and highly effective at that
Bijan is the better pure RB. He's a 20+ carry a game, between the tackles or outside RB. Gibbs is a freak weapon that happens to line up at RB a lot but can do more than the average RB. He's a 10 carry, 5 catch a game guy (in The NFL). Who you prefer is based on what you want to do on offense and/or with the player. Am I the Tennessee Titans? Bijan. Am I the KC Chiefs? Gibbs. Both went to teams that will use them accordingly.
Exactly, well said. Much in the same way Derrick Henry is a better "pure RB" than Alvin Kamara. It doesn't mean anything against Kamara or that he's not a beast or that one team wouldn't value one more than the other.
Bijan has the best vision and change of direction in a 2-3 yard box that I’ve seen since Barry Sanders (I’m that old) and I don’t say that lightly. Gibbs can not only be put in the slot, but also spread out wide and is the biggest offensive homerun threat in this draft. I’m a huge fan of both backs and I expect both of them to be game changers, barring injury. I’m probably one of the few people that wasn’t all that shocked to see them go early. This draft was short on blue chippers, and both of these guys are blue chip prospects.
@@oofmcgoof6386 you need to watch more of Bijan. He has Barry’s jump cut but his lateral cuts with both feet are maybe even a little better than Barry coming out of college. Trust me. I consider Barry to be the best who ever played by a large margin. Bijan is insane. If his knee ligaments hold up to his cuts, look out.
@@oofmcgoof6386 Barry and Bijan definitely have a different running styles. Bijan is a bigger back, when he runs he looks more like LaDainian Tomlinson, but his ability to move sideways in tight spaces without losing acceleration is right up there with Barry.
I watched Bijan in hs - i seen some of the best backs play in arizona over the years, Bijan is hands down the best i've ever seen in HS .. and that followed him to college, and I dont expect it to end there. The best attribute I seen in Bijan is how fluid his running style is... he' flows like water between the tackles and in the open field, forget it... DB loses 9 out of 10 times. I'm a falcons fan this year... I really wish AZ would have snatched him up. we always let our talent leave.
Gibbs can lineup on the outside and run routes like a wide receiver. He’s more than just a RB1. Robinson is an elite RB and has great hands, but he’s not going to split out wide or in the slot.
Dude Bijan would have been one of the best slot receivers in the draft. Going to Atlanta I guarantee he will line up in the slot and probable a time or two out wide. A Smith loves moving his toys all over the place.
He's going to line up in the slot for Atlanta plenty. With allgier at RB watch. Weird that you would say he can't play slot. He's more elusive and probably smarter then gibbs
@@jleif7736 you should really watch more tape and listen to analysts. He is a great pass catcher out of the backfield or at receiver. I've seen tape of him outside and in slot. So you're wrong
I have been a Falcons fan all my life… BR is my 3rd favorite draft pick of all time. Mike Vick and Matt Ryan were the other 2 obviously, but I love the running back position it is still my favorite. I am 46 and most of my favorite players in the past are running backs!! I LOVE THIS PICK!!! Rise up!!
i think they both look absolutely incredible. too shifty, too fast, and already putting so many people on highlight reels and they both have way more value in the routes ran that doesn't show up in the stat sheet. arthur smith just isn't using bijan enough and gibbs is being used for change of pace but eventually montgomery will phase out of their offense in the future.
If I was a defensive coordinator I wouldn't fear Robinson. If I was trying to prepare my defence to stop Gibbs, I would be afraid, very afraid. It's that simple.
As a diehard fan of 40+ years, I love Brad Holmes' approach, gameplan, and knowledge, and he has the stones to be aggressive and take risks in free agency and the draft. If I remember correctly, they've never had a GM do anything positive to improve the team. He hasn't missed any draft picks, technically. He drafted Onwuzarike in the 2nd round and Josh Pascal in the 3rd, fully understanding he was drafting injured players. Unfortunately, Onwuzarike missed WAY more time than expected, needing multiple back surgeries. Who knows when he'll be back, if at all. I don't think he'll even play a single snap for the Lions and release him. As for Pascal, he got healthy late in the season and played well for someone who missed significant time. Other than that, Holmes knocked it out of the park...again.
Gibbs is better because he is faster, more elusive, and more of threat in the passing game. He will be a great weapon for Detroit! I read that they had him as good to pick at 6. So, trading down to 12 and still being able to draft Gibbs was a major benefit. Detroit got, in effect, the ability to select a quite fabulous tight end in the trade down.
Gibbs is a scat back! Dude is no different then Tevin Coleman who use to play for my Falcons! Bijan actually creates alot of his holes due to his vision and because of his poor oline that he had at Texas!
Bijon is a beast and I'm saying it, But Jahmyr Gibbs is a better scheme fit for my Detroit lions , Both backs are going to be hall of famers barring any serious injuries. Bank that!!!
The Lions made the right choice with Gibbs. We shall see who lasts in the league longer and which one becomes the bigger star. I feel like people sleep on Jahmyr's recieving and route running ability.
Gibbs is a better receiver than a lot of receivers. He runs good routes and has great hands. Instead of keeping him in to block, they put him in a route, which forces the defense to either play short handed and bank on getting to the quarterback, or pulling a guy out of the rush, which is just as good as a block.
The offensive line in Detroit is top 5.David Montgomery is a beast and somehow gets lost in the shuffle.make know mistake tho he is Gibbs best friend as he is quick enough has some speed top end and can be physical with hands.Gibbs speed will be hard to keep up with after 3 quarters of Montgomery and trying to catch up with all the speed on Detroit.this team just robbed the NFL #Onepride
Bijan head and shoulders above all other RBs in the class. But Gibbs is upper crust. You called it on Gibbs making 1st round. I am excited to watch both. Although if im asked, Im picking Bijan every time. 🤘🏾🤘🏾
Ik it’s just one game but I always measure a player by who they play particularly when it’s against Alabama or UGA or OSU who are to me semi pro football programs. And against Alabama who is the closest to a NFL defense you’re gonna see in college outside of the catch and run on the last drive before the half he got shut down by Alabama. And that run was 18 yds. The other 20 carries he only had 39 yds. I mean it’s not really impressive in the big 12 when most defenses aren’t good. But he’s a hell of a player I just wouldn’t put him in that Fournette, AD and Zeke category when they came out of college like everybody trying to put him in
Both will get alot of playing time early. Bijan is going to get feed the rock more. Gibbs will be used as a decoy as well to open things up for Amon Ra and Jamo.
@@DetroitLionsStuff he can run the ball too, he actually might have more skills than Robinson. He might be a better fit than Swift was. Swift was injured too much
@Ronald Williams Oh he will get carries as well. I just think Bijan will be more of a workhorse and Gibbs will be much more versatile in the run and pass game. Gibbs is definitely an improvement to Swift. Montgomery is also an improvement from Williams. Lions are scary good.
@@franknitti100LOL yeah basically comparing green apples to red apples!😂.. you're both the same and both are delicious just depends on the taste you like better.. but at the end of the day they give you the same satisfaction 😁🤷 They both would do well in the league barring any major injuries.. so let's all just appreciate their talent in the teams that they're on.. seems like both teams won in this case
Watch the lions game against the raiders. It was a play action pass and gibbs picked up the block on crosby who was coming to kill jarod. It was beautiful and i knew we got the best one
It's called "pick your poison." Both great players. As a Lions' fan I'll take Gibbs because I think his skill set fits better with Ben Johnson's offense.
@@frankrivers2183 oh yeah, I like Gibbs too as a Bama fan and Lions fan. Although, I do think Carter and then Gonzo would’ve been better, but not upset about the pick or anything.
The more you watch the more you can compare Robinson to L Tomlinson and Gibbs to J Charles or Austin Ekeler. Robinson is a 3 down workhorse type of back. He's going to catch the ball extremely well but is able to run 20+ times a game also. Tomlinson had 9 to 10 really productive years as an NFL running back and averaged 4.3 yards per carry and 7.6 yards per reception. Gibbs is a game breaker but a guy who needs to see limited carries to be most effective. 10 to 15 carries a game along with 5 to 10 receptions. Charles had 5 really productive years in the NFL but injuries limited his time. During those 5 years he carried the ball over 200 times and had around 40 receptions a year. Ekeler was used more in college than Gibbs with 4 seasons and 939 carries. In the pros though he's only gone over 200 carries twice in 6 seasons. Ekeler though is averaging over 60 receptions a year. Ekeler averages 4.6 yards per carry while Charles averaged 5.4 yards per carry. With a 17 game schedule next year, if Gibbs averages 10 carries a game that gives him 170 carries in the season. If he averages 4 receptions a game that is 68 for the season. Let's say he averages what Charles did which is 5 yards a carry, that is 850 yards for the season. And if he averages 9 yards a reception like Ekeler does that is 612 yards for the season. For Atlanta, I would limit Robinson's carries to the 250 to 270 range and his receptions to 50 to 60 range. If they do that then he could rush for about 1,200 yards and have 350 to 400 yards in receptions.
“Unlike like anything we’ve seen” lmao Buddy, there’s guys like a Robinson every year. KWIII is exactly like this guy with a better 40 Gibbs is by far the better talent, mark my words
I love bijan, but keep in mind he was beating up on bum defenses. A lot of his runs too he just house calls it on a missed assignment or defensive mental error. I think both are gonna be so good.
Bijan had a bad O-line and had to juke every other step to get any headway. If he was behind Bama’s O-line then it would’ve been a different ball game. Why do you think Gibbs transferred
The bottom line is that each back is going to the team that most wanted them. Detroit could have taken Robinson at 6, but they clearly wanted Gibbs because of his pass-catching ability. Ben Johnson, Detroit offense of coordinator, will find clever ways to use him either out of the backfield or lined up wide. Detroit didn't need Robinson because they have David Montgomery, who can run up the middle or come in for goal-line situations. Both will be excellent for their respective teams. Welcome to the D Gibbs!
That's what I'm saying David Montgomery is pretty solid. To me they are going to use him the way they wanted to use D'Andre Swift. But Gibbs is a heck of an upgrade because he's faster and seems to have better vision and hands. Great pick.
Yes I was 2 great backs but Gibbs made SEC defenses look foolish while Robinson made Big 12 defenses look foolish there is a big difference in talent in.the SEC
