Better is subjective. Happiness is my better regardless of where I live. However, I am grateful to be born a Jamaican who get to live in the 🇺🇸 for over 20 years & have access to material things just like that, so that I can compare life in 🇺🇸 & 🇯🇲. Nonetheless, I prefer Jamaica because my spouse lives in 🇯🇲 & I enjoy my natural culture & foods. Essentially, as I get older & much more wiser, I realize that happiness is more meaningful to me than material acquisition & life’s stressors such as loans or debts…

After 10 years in the U.S., I was over the racism, mass shootings, high cost of living, and debt. I moved to Kenya in August, and the peace of mind and happiness are invaluable. I have no more car payments or insurance payment, and my Airbnb is half of what I used to pay for rent. I did a lot of planning before returning to Kenya after my first visit last year. I worked my ass off and paid off my debt in the U.S. Now, I enjoy fresh, natural (weh America call organic) food, low transportation costs (Uber and Bolt), conveniences (Uber Eats, Glovo, Bolt), and developed infrastructure. I won't say Kenya doesn't have crime, but you don't have to worry about gun crime. As a Jamaican, I would have chosen to return to Jamaica, but it's just as expensive as living in the U.S.

I've never wanted to live in America, really doesn't excite me. Cannot say I like the place. On the other hand I understand why it's appealing to many. Most outsiders' idea of America is a sanitised version seen through the eyes of Hollywood. For balance it would be a great idea Rochilin to do a comparative study between Jamaica and some of America's "third world"states and cities where time has stood still. I think it would be very educational 😂🇯🇲

The big plus of being in a first world country is the job opportunities...you can make money doing almost anything and the currency is stronger...also there are convenience in alot of things as well. But being in Jamaica is also a blessing especially when it comes to health care....which is much cheaper. You get better food in Jamaica as well and the weather is better depending on the state you're in. Also America has many issues that's mind boggling as a developed country like the high rate of homelessness and education...education in the caribbean is far more advanced. What we study in Grade 7 for example they start that in grade 9 in the States and the same thing here in the UK. Our kids could excel far more than the kids in these countries.

I fully agree and support the differences between Jamaica & North America. My experience being in North America has been alarming how in some sectors they still function like a big third world country. Example to name a few, is how the government treat teachers, medical professionals and homelessness. North America is more skilled in hiding inadequacies and and malfunctions.

Hi Rochielin, good to view a long awaited vlog from you, glad you are settled in your new country. I listened to your comparison between US and Jamaica regarding pot holes, know that the world over have to contend with them, and lately with every bad thing that is going on around the world, some countries have not got sufficient funds to fix potholes, I myself have to contend with them for months in far more developed country than JA. US and Europe have much more money to spend, but as you know now the money is going in the war kitty. JA try their best but we all know better needs to be done. At least JA don't have a whole town of homeless on the streets. Be blessed.

While visiting and driving in the USA I found myself doing the same thing mentally telling myself stay right I did fairly good until I turned off the main highway onto the left lane and met a line of cars facing me people said no your on the wrong lane and directed me to the right right lane everyone was kind to wait for me to correct myself.

You did a great job on the comparisons between Jamaica and the USA. It was thoroughly researched and spot on. You are one of the better vloggers on Utube. Keep it going 👍 As for the roadways in America, I live in So Flo and the roads are constantly been worked on. In some neighborhoods the work might take a couple years but in the end it's wonderful. As for the many self check outs in the supetmarkets and other stores it is very common as Americans love moving fast so this is helpful to a lot of people. Jamaica do not need to follow this trend as the peolpe need the job as cashiers and for some it is viable means of employment. I miss your vlogs of Jamaica but life goes on. Much blessing in your new home in America ❤️

I grew up in Massachusetts and you cannot turn on the right, but when I moved to Florida a few years ago you could turn unless they had a no-turn sign, they also used to have pump attendance years ago, but they took the jobs away from those people. Most of these self-serve machines are so that they can employ fewer persons while putting more money in their pockets, that is why so many people are unemployed in the US. In Jamaica, we don't need that because that takes food out of a family's mouth, leaving them to beg and do things that they don't need to do just to feed their children.

Here you can always make a right turn but it is illegal in NY (you're bound to get a ticket) I'm a Jamaican myself and I still spell my words the same as I did growing up back home. In fact I got into an argument with a supervisor regarding my spelling, but that's a whole other conversation 😅. No worries honey I'm pretty sure you have adjusted to the changes already.

I live in Naples, Florida. Very affluent, extremely clean and well kept landscapes. The I-75 in SW FL is very well kept, reflectors replaced, and no pot holes down this side... In the state of Florida, you can make a right turn on the RED light once there's no oncoming traffic. Also, you can go on the flashing RED (but stop 1st) and the YELLOW light in Florida.

In UPstate New York, we can make a right on red perhaps because the traffic is not as wretched as in New York City. I know you love New York, but hope you can visit upstate someday. Fall is very beautiful this time of the year with the leaves changing its a beautiful sight to see. Love your channel.

Self service has been here in the 🇬🇧 for more than 30 years but now it more widespread. I am a tech geek older person and love self service. But theft is on the increase with the cost of living crisis. Just a few days ago security and staff had to stop a man who had stolen a lot shopping. It was embarrassing to watch but self service is the main reason. Even big supermarkets close their tills at 7pm. Then it's self service until they close at 10pm or 12am. It encourages theft. You should do a part time job in the corporate world and get more insight into American verses Jamaican life. Love this video and like how you're doing your research to create excellent content. Stay blessed

I have visited Jamaica 3 times. I love vacations there. The people are friendly but blunt. I love that so much. A beautiful warm paradise. I live in Oregon, and for the most part we can turn right on red. We also have gas station attendants, though lately most gas stations are understaffed, so local legislators passed a law allowing limited self service.

In America we have both full service and self service gas stations. I'm in Massachusetts that has a mixture. But I'd say like 89 % self service. We got smooth roads as well as pothole ridden roads. We don't have apps to report potholes but we can call the city or highway department

This was a good video, very informative and clear. I visited Canada and spent some weeks there and all the things you highlighted in this video I've observed in Canada. No potholes on the road Driving on the right side of the road Allowed to turn right unless it says no right turn Self pump at the gas stations Self checkout at the supermarkets Other things I noticed though were that there was generally more reverence or respect towards the environment and nature than in Jamaica people drove better on the roads and were more considerate of other drivers food (groceries) was way cheaper than in Jamaica utilities were way cheaper than in Jamaica as well housing was generally more expensive though

I’m in Toronto and we can turn right on a red light unless there is signage not to do so which is only on very busy intersections. We can turn on red as long the pedestrian is on the other side of the median and there are no cars travelling across the green light, once it’s clear you can go.

Rochelin, I love your videos, they are always informative and fun to watch but please, to compare the roads or infrastructure in Jamaica with America is doing Jamaica an injustice. That was not fair to Jamaica. No need to air Jamaica ‘s dirty laundry for the world to see and to show videos of it makes it even worse. As we all know, Jamaica is a small, poor country when compared to America, and does not have the resources to quickly fix the roads every time they fall in disrepair. Severe rainfalls due to climate change is the main reason for flooding that result in the destruction of the roads. As you rightfully stated, the Government is focusing on building new highways which is well needed for Jamaica’s growth and development, and the budget is limited and cannot cover everything. The GDP is small, and the little money has to spread across various areas of government such as education and healthcare, etc. so the government has to prioritize its spending. I need not get into details here, I just want to say, please do not focus on the negatives of Jamaica in your videos. Jamaica has had enough reputational damage to deal with due to biased negative media. Every country has similar issues to different extent, even the great America. Jamaicans do the most damage to Jamaica’s reputation. The negative videos that they constantly circulate on social media are appalling to say the least. They make it seem as if Jamaica is the only country where negative things happen. I have not seen this from people of other nationalities. No matter how bad their country is they are presenting the best to the world.

@tricia7016 AGREED! Jamaica is 61 years old; America is almost 300 years old and was built mostly by the hands of slaves. It is disgusting that Jamaicans who move to "foreign" are always bashing their own country. They should be ASHAMED of themselves, because to me, they are putting down their own mother.

You are so correct. Maybe she is seeking views with the negativity for Yaad. I've noticed that since she migrated she has lost viewership because most people watched for the Yaad content. You can not get Yaad content from living in America. I know some folks will jump on me. The truth hurts sometime. Believe me, I like Rochielin. I prefer the Yaad content myself.

It's illegal to pump your own gas in New Jersey and Oregon. Back in time, there was no such thing as a self serve station, however, it was not unusual to get shortchanged at some stations, but that's another story. I do miss the complementary windshield wash and checking of oil but used to it now.

Hi I'm a Jamaican who migrated from Jamaica 28 years ago and lived in crazy NYC for the first 10 years. I migrated from there18 years ago to the state of Georgia and have really enjoyed living down here. I have since learned that all the southern states have adopted this practice of making a right turn on read. I go back to Jamaica for vacation every year and have to recalibrate my too as soon as I get in the rental car.😊
