Do you know what is the difference between orbital sander and random orbit sander? They are both different tools, with significant differences. Which sander you should use depends on what you are looking to do. Understanding the big differences between these two small sanders will help you to choose the right sander for the right job!
Bosch Sander Products
Bosch GSS 140 Orbital Sander Professional 220W - bit.ly/34BSfHC
Bosch GEX 125-1 AE Random Orbit Sander (Eccentric) Professional 250W - bit.ly/3a4jVFW
Optional
Bosch GEX 125-1 A Random Orbit Sander (Eccentric) Professional 250W - bit.ly/2XrTI1p
Bosch GSS 140 Orbital Sander Professional 220W
Orbital Sander moves only in a circular motion, or a small orbit. Which might leave swirl pattern marks, especially sanding across the grain. The performance and scratch pattern differ from brand to brand. The best feature of the orbital sander is its square shape, which allows it to get in corners and up against edges. You can also use regular sandpaper cut to fit rather than purpose-made random-orbit sanding disks. Usually, 1/4 piece of the sandpaper which is cheaper.
Bosch GEX 125-1 AE Random Orbit Sander (Eccentric) Professional 250W
Random Orbit Sander moves back and forth, in oscillation spins, which does not create distinct pattern marks. Velcro random-orbit sanding disks, for rapid fastening and changing. Easy to install, but relatively more expensive. It also comes with "Speed Adjuster" and efficient dust extraction Bosch Microfilter system.
Summary
The orbital sander is the older, simpler, and less expensive of these two tools. They are perfect for prepping a surface for painting or sealing, or for knocking down a layer of paint. Random-orbit sanders create less visible cross-grain scratching. It can remove a lot more material than an orbital sander. And many random-orbit sanders have variable-speed switches for less aggressive sanding. Definitely suitable for polishing and buffing works!

Thanks for the comparison between the two sanders. I had just purchased 1 orbital sander and 1 rotary sander before I stumbled upon your video. Those sanders are different brand from yours. At first I was considering buying bosch but i was looking for a built in vaccum. So I ended up buying other brand. I'll be using orbital sander primarily on ceiling corners. Thank you. I just sent a support on your channel.

Thanks for introducing those two. As I know, it has to be limit to less than 3000 rpm for car polishing. My question for variable speed control of the random orbit sander, can it really do the car polishing?
@ATKCeWarehouse

Personally, I do not suggest. The no-load speed: 7,500 - 12,000 rpm, which is still much higher than the 3000rpm.

hello my friend. Yes you can use it for polishing with a 5 dollar modification. You will have to buy a speed controller for 110-220v ac current and plug the tool to the speed controller. you can then reduce the rpm to a polishing speed. And since it will be an external speed controller you can use it to all your corded tools. don't forget, people are using angle grinders aswell for polishing reasons.

I spend more money on sandpaper than all other tools combined. I can cut and install any sand paper to fit the 1/4 sheet orbital sander, not so with a random orbital. Sanding costs are about 1/4 with the orbital sander, plus much easier to control and develop a very light touch.

I bought the Ryobi 7000-13000+ rpm 130 watt 125mm orbiter random sander (Bunnings ran out of the Bosch one [funny how they always have a surplus of shit hanging from discount trees on every corner of every aisle yet you often can't find something of quality that you need] "Lowest Qualitie's Just the Beginning!" ) and had a go on varnished table top using diablo 40 - 240 grit. The 40 dug swirls into the wood that I couldn't get rid of in some sections :( even when aggressively hand sanding inline. I'm not very impressed to be honest but perhaps using it lightly on varnish and paint with suitable high number grit (and many pieces of it) to make the sanding easy and then doing the rest by hand at medium and then light strength.

I purchased a used one as the piece is a bit pricey, but the machine ru-vid.comUgkxG6fbm3cHBd7CNTjk5D-dwYe9c9tCB9ZN has surpassed my expectations. We sand small parts by hand often, sized around 1"x1/2," and specifically look for a piece that's designed to be vertical. The motor has plenty of torque and great speed settings. The only inconvenience I had is that the disk measures 5" where we trim 6" stick-and-sand disks down easily by mounting it then cutting with a box cutter.

another example of humanity devolving en masse. i use a B&D hand drill from 1980, with a 5" sanding pad. it's getting a bit wobbly after over 40 years, i thought i'd buy an inexpensive sander, but i was dismayed to find there are no simple round, rotary sanders, but all of them have these complicated gear designs which i cannot see lasting 40+ years of use. if i need to i will replace it with another hand drill and rotary pad. humanity, learn how to use the simple strong tool to get a good result, instead of making inferior tools that will continually break because you believed some stupid thing sold to you.

It was more than a month when I really tested it sanding but to my frustration it doesn't really work even just its weight and you don't pressure on it.
