Honestly the best video needed to explain the variety in the term 'billiards' and 'pool'. Always needed a better explanation to convince others and this is it
Definitely is. I had a clip of me making a typical 1 pocket bank shot and I was going to include it, but something was wrong with the footage and I wasn't able to use it.
Great job bro! My daughter picked up a pool stick for the 1st time on Saturday, and was reapply interested, so here I am searching for different rules and games, keep it up, this needs more views!!
Thanks! I'm gonna get back to some more of my educational content since I am done with this video. I just thought that this was an interesting topic to explore. Glad you enjoyed it #32
I’m alright at pool when I play I beat my dad most of the time and he’s pretty good I would love to have a game with you tho I know I would lose but it would be awesome to do
Best English billiards player ever is an Australian genius called Walter lindrum. He was about nearly 100 years ago. The best 2 players in England at the time were Joe Davis and Tom Newman , Walter lindrum came over to play them and would often give them a 7000 point start first to 12000 and win. 😎
Brilliant video honestly. The best breakdown of the terms and their origins, matches what I learned when looking it up. I always wondered why the word “pool” though, now I know! Thanks
i'm from a more rural part of america, and we've been known to throw stuff at chickens for entertainment... on occasion... heck, it's real fun trying to run over guineafowl with a car! it's basically impossible! lol good times...
It carried over from horse races because they would often have billiard tables in their betting parlors called "poolrooms" or I suppose "poolhalls" and to pass the time between races they would play billiards, eventually calling it "shooting pool"
Thanks for clearing a few things up.also, wat pool variation is played w/shuffleboard pieces? & i've seen in sum movies & tv shows where people place some sorta wooden pegs on the pool table
This is probably the most useless video I have ever made, but I had fun doing it. If you enjoyed the video, help me out and leave a comment/like to help with the algorithm. I will have some more of my standard content coming out in the next week or two.
When Pinocchio plays pool, Jiminy is upset as if it's a sign of being a bad person. This confused me for years. There is also a Donald Duck cartoon where Donald learns geometry through billiards. I was confused for years why they weren't hitting the balls into pockets.
I actually had Rotation in my script before, but I ended up cutting that part out. Definitely a fun game to play though, especially with some of my Filipino friends here in Korea.
There is a pool we play in Eritrea its little different from what you explained Some of the rules are If you make foul you get 2 shots U must put balck ball in the opposite pocket of ur last ball 1 and 15 must must be putin the middle pockets
Wait a minute, if french billiard falls in the category of english billiards, why don't we call them franco-english billiard ? Edit : French billiard *IS* english billiards.
French billiards is carom billiards, played on a table without pockets. It's related to English billiards in that they both use three balls and hitting off the opponent's cue ball and the object ball scores points, but obviously the pocketing of balls isn't part of the game. The relative simplicity of the original version of the game (now usually called straight rail carom billiards) lead to overwhelming skill in hitting combos where the balls stay near each other the whole time, especially when the two target balls are in a corner, leading to the creation of the derived versions where additional conditions were placed. The balkline version draws lines on the table, splitting the surface into zones where there's a limit to how many points can be scored in one of the balk zones before the balls must be shot into other zones (the exact size and how many point are allowed in each are variants). Cushion billiards require that the cue ball also contacts a cushion before or between contact with the other balls, with three-cushion being a more difficult version of that as it requires three cushion contacts as part of the shot (naturally). Also, carom billiards balls are larger, at 61.5 mm in diameter, while English billiards uses the same 54 mm balls as snooker.
@@WorldofPoolandBilliards lol. Snooker is watched by millions! It's a much harder sport to master. Pool is for boys and snooker is for men. Judd Trump would beat the Pool world champion, easy.
This is a bit of a hard question to answer. I believe to play at the top tier, it all takes about the same amount of effort and dedication. That being said, there are some games that are quite unfriendly to new players because it takes a high-level of knowledge and skill to even finish one game. I think 3-cushion may be the hardest for new players.
Again billiard or billiards it same .however pool is American made term of game I'm Aussie in Australia we know it as billiards or billiardo but Americans has there own ways in things changed thing around it is what it is I guess how ever you play it it's still a same game you no need for newname for it to differentiated . No matter of your way on game still same .
