I was asked what is the difference between pre and post effect sending, it's easy to show how it work and what it does, so that is what I did.

This makes things easier. I've just been moving to post fader which is probably why I have less control over the sound. I have been doubling the tracks and using post fader as a kind of wet/dry track. I suppose I can do the same thing with pre and actually get a better sound doing it that way... thanks for this, timely indeed. Good morning, sir, and thank you.

Yay! Thank you so much for this! So the next question is, what's the point of the Pre? I see what it does, I just don't quite understand why it does it. Why would you want to pull your fader all the way down and still hear it? Maybe I'm just over my head lol

Hey Mike, thank you ao much for clarifying, your video has actually thrown up an new question (for me) - can i use my Tascam to record internal effects WHILST im recording, so theyre stuck to the track permanently regardless of pre or post? Im recording vocals at the moment and i much orefer to record with the effect on andnknow its commited to that track regardless if how i set the effects kate for further tracks?

Quick question. So I have two leads that need the "insert effect" but it only let's me do one track at a time. If I switch track 3 to "insert effect" track 5 loses it. How do I insert effect on multiple tracks? Thanks again for all of your help

The "Insert Effects" only works on one track, best way is to set it to use the effect when recording, that way you'll record the effect along with your original sound.

So if i understand correctly, you can't fade a 'pre' track to silent in a mixdown?

Correct, if you have your effect set to 'pre' the fader on that track does nothing because it is pre-fader.

Is it fair to say pre and post are both for after recording? Meaning reverb etc is not added permanently yet ?

Correct. It won't get added until you are doing a mixdown

Are you talking about the intro music? Yes, I dropped it from 10 seconds to 5. You're the first person to notice that.

Oh. Yes, it did actually. It's because the "Spotify Generation" gets bored quickly and switch song when they are bored.

Hi! I have another question! I picked up a shure sm57 dynamic microphone. I turned the trim all the way up on the dp24, and I don't get great levels. I had to turn on the amp effect to boost it. Am i not singing loud enough? Or do i need some sort of preamp? What do you think?

Hmm. Could be a bad mic. Can you try it on another mixer or amp?

@MikeFoerster you're the best for replying so quickly! It's a brand new digiflex xlr both ends. The cable I used with the guitar amp was a regular one. Should I be messing with the digital trim?
