Walton's way of reciting QT dialogue is particularly musical, his performance in Hateful Eight is easily among my favorites of any of the director's work. Sam Jackson's of course the king of delivering QT dialogue but for Hateful alone I'd rank Walton close behind. They both have specifically melodic way of speaking his written words.

I love Tarantino. Pulp Fiction is a classic, Inglorious Basterds was great, his writing is fantastic and he is a genius, but even he would admit, don't compare him to Spielberg. Jaws, Close Encounters, Raiders, E.T., Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Minority Report. Not even mentioning his above average "mediocre" films. Not to take anything away from the genius of QT, but c'mon.

Let's remember that Spielberg is far older than Tarantino! He's gotten softer. When Spielberg was young, he had no problem showing a kid getting devoured by a shark or a Thuggee High Priest ripping a guy's heart out! Tarantino's also got that Italian "thing", a propensity toward violence.
@kthx1138
@kthx1138 3 года назад
Tarantino is all about death and bloodshed. There's usually at least one bloodbath in a Tarantino film (and I love it). Spielberg has gone there too (Schindler's List, Amistad, Munich), but he tends to lean toward peace.

Goggins just hit on why Spielberg is a master DIRECTOR and Tarantino is not - Spielberg has the light touch of a master while Tarantino is still wasting energy on set, trying too hard. Tarantino is a FAR better writer than director. I read his Django Unchained screenplay (which BLEW ME AWAY) before watching the movie. But I must say the movie itself disappointed me somewhat - I had imagined it would be much better directed - it should have been, because the screenplay is brilliant, and rightly won the Oscar for best original work! Once Upon a Time... was better directed, but Spielberg is still a greater DIRECTOR overall.

Goggins' should be a bigger star, though he is successful since he was Shane in the Shield, a great series. I differ with him on Tarantino and his movies are boring and often bad. But don’t tell the movie press. Rarely has so much celebratory ink been spilled on a director who has made such dreck. Ever since Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, his best movies, they believe he's an artist but over time he's shown to be nothing more than a splatter-film director who can attract top talent. And you’re the least original splatter-film director in the United States. You simply can’t stop making the same movie.
