i’ve gotten a few comments about this so i’d like to apologize for labeling “latin” as a concept !! i absolutely understand why it isn’t just a concept or aesthetic and it definitely would have been better to say “inspired by” or put it under genres and i’d like to apologize for that, so i am very sorry. i did finish that part at around 3am so i wasn’t thinking properly and i’ll definitely make sure to be more careful and look over these things properly next time, sorry again !
To people saying “OMG I THOUGHT IT WAS A GENRE” Yes, it is a genre, but not a concept. As being a critic when this came out ,my Heritage is not a concept. Someone can’t put on and off when it is opportunity to them. There are many groups who take time to learn about the Latino culture and understand what the words mean, but not everyone is like that. There are many idols who call it a concept, Like the word Concept mean IDEA. I’m glad this RU-vidr took the feedbacks and decided to hear us. THANK YOU 😊
Any culture shouldn't really be regarded as a concept or (with the exception of Latin) genre. You can have songs inspired by Ancient China or Medieval Europe or African tribal instrumentals etc. But they aren't concepts or genre they are sort of a type of inspiration so songs with traditional Indian music in it isn't really an Indian concept song but is more of an Indian inspired song. As long as the usage of the songs isn't offensive to the culture they're from I personally think it's perfectly fine. What happened was an honest mistake and isn't really a huge deal and from what I've read most Latinos that have read you apology was fine with it so it really isn't a big deal 😊
Seventeen's discography is so underrated. So sad that many people recognize them for their choreographies only. Their music is so versatile even though they have only two producers (member Woozi and their ex vocal teacher Bumzu). Here are the song genres they have tried to produce: pop, rock, rnb, soul, ballad, jazz, edm, hip-hop, trap, latin and more. I still can't cope with the fact that they have promoted Fear and Snap Shoot at the same time
Kpop haters are honestly more annoying then the fandoms they claim to hate. This video shows just how many genres there are in Kpop, there are actually more but that would be alot in one video
I think people have misunderstood what Kpop is. It is an industry, the Idol industry based in Korea. It is not a genre. There's so much included in the industry that people miss out on because they expect every song to be the same, more or less. Kpop is the music, fashion, visuals, performance everything just like the American industry. One group isn't the equivalent of the entire industry.
exactly, it annoys me so much when people are like, 'kpop just really doesn't fit with me, the songs aren't even that good' and proceed to talk about one group only. as you said kpop isn't a genre it is just music produced and sung by/in koreans
The disclaimer on Felix' voice lmao. Still wild to me that they didn't have to pitch down his "meori appeuda" for Side Effects. They just added an echo effect to it
In case anyone wants the sub-genres of the EDM songs: 2:05 Side Effects (Stray Kids) - Psytrance Similar: Silent Night (Dreamcatcher), Screamz (Dreamcatcher), Horizon (Ateez), Badster (HYO) 2:24 Hit (Seventeen) - Big room Similar: Adios (Everglow) Some others (not the same genre but similar): Flash (X1) (fave song!), Miroh (Stray Kids) 2:44 Hate (4Minute) - Trap EDM (there’s a hip-hop sub-genre also called trap lol) Similar: Savage (A.C.E), Kill This Love (Blackpink), Me (CLC) 3:05 Singing in the Rain (Jinsoul of LOONA) - Future Bass Similar: (there’s a lot of good examples, these are just my faves) Thanks (Seventeen), Good to Me (Seventeen), Butterfly (LOONA) Some other EDM a songs I would recommend (mostly mixes between sub-genres): Hellevator (Stray Kids) - future bass & dubstep Liar (CLC) - future bass but I think it has a different feel Love Foolish (Twice) - electro funk Psycho (Red Velvet) - Mix of R&B and future bass Rumor (HINP from PD48) -moombahton Fever (Gfriend) - moombahton I Need U (remix) (BTS) - future bass (?) Violeta (IZ*ONE) - tropical house & future bass Sorry for the long comment! Just wanted to point out the diff sub genres cuz there are so many of them that are really different. EDM supremacy :)
saying this here because i’m tired of explaining myself - like i said at the start of the video, i didn’t add blackpink or bts because most people will listen to those and judge kpop based off their music so the purpose of this video is to introduce other groups, genres and concepts ! just because i don’t add a group to this video it doesn’t mean i dislike them and if i make a part 2 then you’ll probably see more there :)
@@avaamidi9913 everyone knows they’re the two most popular groups and most of the time its them who people listen to, if i didn’t mention them then it would defeat the purpose of this video. if i called them talentless or overrated then yes it would be disrespectful but i didn’t speak badly about them at all :)
@@linostival i was trying to say that people might understand it in a bad way like thinkin that you hate these groups because they more fame than other groups, or that u are jealous of their fame im sorry if i don't explain myself well since english is not my first language
hey I just went through your chanel and i really like your videos, i think content is great, idk are views the reason you stoped posting but I'm pretty sure start is hard for everyone and hard work will pay off sooner or later. ❤️ edit:oof sorry I just noticed the times when you were posting... hahahaha I feel dumb now anyway i guess few good words are not that bad so I'm gonna leave comment for whoever needs it😂❤️
Almost all of them, and I admit that as a LOONA stan. They don’t really have any rock songs and none of their songs fit the dark concept. They do fit a lot of concepts and genres tho and that’s a fact.
@@yvesuslovesyou they have into the new world which is rock. agreed with the dark concept but thats mean they still not discovered the concept yet and im sure theyre gonna do it one day, like yves said they never do a cb concept twice
in my opinion i’d put it more under teen crush as girl crush feels a lot more like hardcore (?? if that makes sense) while teen crush is a mix of girl crush and teen-ish / bubbly kinda vibes and i feel like get it definitely fits under that ! i respect your opinion though :]
@@linostival yeah I think it's rather similar to ddu du ddu du than picky picky for example since the purpose of teen crush is kind of to make it girl crush but without sexualizing younger members, so it's rather cute but still a little bold(?) I guess and get it has a lot of sexy elements and feels really grown-up to me
noise music is also a real and extremely music genre that is linked to experimental, electronic and rock scenes. Using it in a negative manner is just proof of how misinformed and uncultured they are.
@@babymilksnatcher fr like the kpop stans calling edm noise music as an insult would have a heart attack listening to actual noise music (harsh noise wall, noisecore, etc)
I really like your choices for dark concept. A lot of k-pop stans think that dark concept is all these typical cool boy group songs when in reality dark concept is something like CYSM, Girls, and You In Me.
Yup. Dark concepts can come in a bright package, too. The trick to a dark concept is having a tragic ending or evil doings. Crime, war, insanity, betrayal, monsters, injustice, death, and abuse are all under the dark concept umbrella.
Day6 and dreamcatcher are masterpiece . Their revolutionary music is no where to be found on any Kpop groups .. best song of Day6 is definitely you were beautiful and best song of dreamcatcher are boca and odd eye ... Izone and Twice are Queen of cute concept.. Twice best are Fancy and I cant stop me , Izone best are Secret of the swan and La vien Rose
I am a performer for a living and a Carat for a hobby and can confidently say this about Seventeen: Seventeen is the full package group. Training together since the average age of 16, they're self-produced in music, choreography, & lyricists. They're the most synced dance group in Kpop with incredible choreo, and hit a wide variety of musical genres and nails them all. (I'm a strong Carat so plz no hate), but the only thing that they lack in is diversity of vocal tonality. Most of the vocalists (especially the main ones), while individually great, sound alot alike except for two softies and a bass. They inspire me like no other group has, to continue working harder to get better in my craft (musicianship/showmanship/vocals/dancing). Seventeen: I pray for you all the time, you have taken on one of the most difficult/stressful/strenuous jobs in the world that a person can freely choose, and you do it for our entertainment. Thank you for always working so hard. We love you ~P
i agree and don’t worry i’m a big carat too, theyre one of my ults ! they definitely have an amazing discography ! i’m not a singer so i can’t say much about that area but i am a dancer and i agree that svt are CRAZY talented at dancing :)
I was about to comment that they are litteraly the official concept group of kpop i feel offended a disappointed when they haven't even appear once in dark concepts
The Rose, Day6 are such great bands. In My opinion Dreamcatcher is the first group to incorporate correctly rock into the formula and is the introduction for more groups to adopt the rock sound (or sub-rock) into their music, and i feel really happy about that.
Keep in mind that LOONA's yves "new" is the first soultronica in kpop history, and sonatine by LOONA 1/3 is the first orchestral kpop song without any percussion in it.
For me its soo hard to differentiate genres in music, I just love anything it just has to sound good to me. And this video is proof cuz in every single category there is at least one song that I love to the moon and back.
My non-kpop friends always forcefully invited to my ted talk, I've no choice but to increase their knowledge on Korean music industry. Not only that, they also thought beautiful Korean people means underwent plastic surgery. Duh-
stray kids is my favorite group, they make songs in very different styles and genres, I find it very difficult for you not to find at least one of their songs that you like
My god THEY'RE LITERALLY PLAYING STRANGERS AS THE BGM Anyways, I like the fact that they didn't focus on solely popular groups that are known for **bubbly pop* Or anything similiar and really took the time to show different sides of kpop with quality music. Nine years of music school down the drain.
Yesss! Thank you! We need more representation of other groups and different genres in kpop! I feel like a lot of people say they don't like kpop bc they don't like blackpink and bts. While yes, they are kpop, two groups and two styles are not all kpop has 2 offer. I love how this video goes in2 the different genres and concepts within kpop. Also, what about a chill pop and jazzy genre? Handle it by Twice is a good chill song and Wow Thing (it's a collab) is a good jazzy song.
I have to constantly explain to people that Kpop isn’t a genre- it’s literally just popular Korean music. I guess it can be confusing because where I’m from, pop music is a genre like Katy Perry’s music. Kpop in western culture has this stigma of being poppy and lacking depth which I just hate so much oml
Hip-hop music like Epik High or Flowsik, heavier rock bands like FT Island and TOXIC, ballads groups like TriTops or 4Men, true R&B like Jooyoung or K.Will, and indie ish like AKMU.
I saw Joshua and clicked immediately. And waiting for mv fear to come out but-- lol it's okay, thank you for including Hit. Anyway stan SEVENTEEN for a better life
Dark and horror concepts are defintely my favourite ones! I wish we could see more gore in horror mvs like 1NB have. Such a shame they disbanded so early. Luckily Dreamcatcher is still around (although their concept has change a bit). Hoping for Pixy and Purple kiss will keep dark concept in the future
do you have any personal recommendations for someone who likes the groups/music with the dark and horror concept? I'm trying to find some new songs. I currently know Drink It, Voodoo Doll, Psycho, You and I, Poison etc.
I went from a hardcore Kpop hater to a Multi-Stan... (What happened?) I never realized how much effort Kpop idols put into their music, mv, and dancing. And I also like that they make fun videos outside of their music videos. Basically, don’t be stubborn and at least give Kpop a fair chance before you say you don’t like it.
None of my irl friends like Kpop and they also have the argument of "just not liking it" but I just can't speak up... Kpop is very important to me and I wish I could share it with them but yea...
Same, bc my sister insists on saying kpop is trash and bts is trash bc he listened to 2 songs by bts. And I hard stan bts and I love kpop so it hurts me when she says that, I keep trying to tell her there is definitely something out there for her, but she says "I can't understand it so whats the point" as if she don't be watching hours of anime with subtitles
i'm suprised that u didn't add Baekhyun's songs for RnB (but it's okay, just said) thanks for the video and letting people know about kpop so much more than it is "just weird korean pop song"
okay now my head is all 'let me drop top oh oh my' btw SEVENTEEN's songs is so underrated, i recommend 247, My My and All my love to u yugs, oh and Fallin' Flower jun's dance is so attractive!!2:30
not really related to the video, but sometimes i wish kpop stans would take a moment and realize what they are listening to. not only the visuals or "defending" their fav artists, but actually listening to the song, how well is produced and what makes it so good. kpop has some reaaally good produced songs, albums and groups and its noticeable, it would be nicer if we constantly bear in mind that before kpop was a big worldwide industry, it was a music genre as any other, and it still is, it just involves other things linked to its roots and trunk.
Omg agreed!! Some people really be listening to songs for the sake of streaming only, I mean I appreciate streaming and working hard to make ur faves win,, but like it's so exciting to learn about a song in detail and find its little hidden elements and stuff. Wish ppl appreciate kpop music more rather than just the visuals and the fact that it's their fave's and that they should blindly listen to them and stream (and force themselves to like it even if sometimes they don't)
I gotta say, you are doing hero’s work responding to as many of the comments as you are (especially those that didn’t read your disclaimers). Fighting!
tbh if people say kpop is just one specific genre of music after only listening to bts, they obviously only listened to a few of their songs because bts has almost every genre in their discography 💀
a lot of people hated (and still hates) side effects when in fact it's one of the songs that influenced other kpop songs, and it brought back the pystrance genre. And please, "meori apuda" means "my head hurts" what did some kpop stans expect
@@linostival I actually love your video because you showed different groups/concepts/songs that are still underrated or unknown 😌 I said red velvet because they really show totally different concepts every time
you could add better examples for dark concepcts honestly... Like "Wonderland" by Ateez, "Oh my god" or "LION" by G-Idle. A lot of non-"k-pop" ppl actually likes these ones.
I hate it when kpop haters who haven’t even TRIED or made ANY EFFORT to get into kpop water kpop down to only being blackpink and bts. don’t get me wrong, i love both groups, but there’s SO MUCH MORE to kpop than just two groups. there are so many different genres and concepts and fandoms but they just decide to ignore that and hate on it anyways. imo kpop is better than just western music because of how much more there is to it than just the music itself. there’s so much more about kpop to love like the choreography, idols, fandoms, talent, shows, vocals, and more.
as a rock and a kpop fan i wouldn't count day6, dreamcatcher, the rose nor n.flying rock (don't get me wrong they make SO GOOD MUSIC) so im glad you also said pop rock because they fit better into that category, unlike groups like Rolling Quartz who are absolutely rock. don't hate on me this is just an opinion from a person who loves classic rock❤️ LOVE Y'ALL HAVE A GREAT DAY💕💕 edit: not a native speaker so had to fix grammatical errors lmao
i agree ! i grew up listening to rock and i’d say a lot of their songs are mostly pop rock (there are a few that could be labeled as rock) but unfortunately i hadn’t heard of rolling quartz when i was making this video :( i only heard about them a couple of months ago
To be honest even if BTS aint even in the list. They made up of a bunch of genres like i am a genius at genres because of BTS. An example would be DNA because its electronic pop compared to like The Truth Untold which is like lyrical/soft music
13:20 Omg that's the song Yeosang sang at the MAMAs of 2019, I didn't know what it was until now haha I didn't know it was Shinee's either, I don't know them much yet
