The DIFFICULTY Tier List - Easiest to Hardest specs in Cata! 

I would say that Holy Priest is easy to play and perform well if you're looking at the spec as a whole. The chakra system make it even easier, but to fully master it can be a little more difficult.

Cool list and video. Is being ontop of their game letting the raid die without using Tranquility as a Moonkin? Or not swapping to bear to save a fight as kitty. This type of stuff is so hard to factor in As a DPS, I want the RAID to succeed, even if I give up 5% DPS, it will rarely make me top DPS, and I never play pure DPS classes. Always hybrids

i don't agree on the fire mage at all, in which i belive is significant harder to play than a frost mage. allso agree on the prot warrior vs the paladin. on the paladin you have quite bit of time and dont have to stress, wile on the prot warrior to play it properly you constantly smashing buttons at a high rate to try spend your rage properly, and use the defensives on correct times. i find the prot warrior to be more funn to play, but allso alot more mentaly exhausting, so cant do too many dungeons in a row with it

Arcane mage is always dogged on for being "easy" but it's really not. Yes the rotation is simple but the spec isn't about the rotation it's about the resource management and understanding the fight you're in. You can absolutely arcane blast x4 missiles x1 and that's it but if you want to parse above a 70 or 80 a lot more goes into it

The UH Dk is actually not that easy to play. Mastering the dark transformation cooldown, timing it well, managing runes and deathcoils in order to keep the transformation runing asap is not an easy thing to do

Hey Mijae. Having experienced the likes of Sindragosa and Blood council. One of the things I would be interested in is who does raids favor? ICC has quite a few mechanics for ranged to deal with where melee can more or less ignore it, what does cata bring us ? Who gets fucked over? Thanks :) @Mijae

I play all of the tanks. The most chill tank= Feral Then a long time nothing until we get to pally and warrior. Bdk is the hardest of all. I mean it's just simple to play but from all of them a bit harder. Tanking is the most chill class. Just get good gear and watch your cd's in raids/dungeons. I also play heal. So i have favorite tanks to heal. Just feral. Up to 50% avoidance halfus hc 😂 It's just crazy. No bdk can get do less dmg(with all that selfheal) than the bear. Bdk nr2 and then pally/warri.

Sub feels similar to pre glyph buff feral druid in wrath. Juggling various cp spender buffs feels a lot like juggling rip and roar.

not understanding why Survival hunter is average instead of easy peasy survival is just as easy if not easier than marks...

imo druid is all ezpz, but Im a druid main, so my guess is thats how all mains feel about thier spec?

Are prot warrior and prot pally hard to play or just bad, thus hard to get good results? dk has so many things to keep track of. 3 sets of runes RP healing yourself maintain ds absorb shield pally has a basic rotation that can be used for aoe and single target?

Been playing druid for over 15 years now. Looking back on cata, I'd say bear is correctly placed if all it is doing is main tanking, however most of the time bear is an offtank which mean a good portion of the fight you will be in cat pumping the numbers. between cat and boomy I would swap their places, cat is considerably easier to play efficently compaired to boomy. Boomy you can play at a low tier level and stay near last on the meters without thinking much about the rotation and just simply trying to manage eclipse states, but if you want to be on the higher side of the meters a LOT goes into boomy. you have to squeeze everything you can out of it to be competative and that requires knowing all the fights, correct snap shotting, actively counting casts due to wrath hangtime and not wasting a cast in eclipse state, etc.

Is this more for pve or pvp?

You can`t put Arcane in "easy" because he has to plan his dmg windows, cos if you just rotate and start your dmg part when you need to run around, you`re screwed. Where other classes can just adapt to boss mechanics timings, Arcane must know exactly, when they happen and plan forward. I played Firelands as Arcane back then and I managed to practice every fight to 0 movement. Every time I had to move, I had blink up and I knew exactly the place where to blink, so I`ll be safe for sure. It isn`t "ezpz" )

so imo elem and bear are like smash you head on keyboard and seen be other playerin group how you perform they'll say you did good job in this dung/raid :P

Is it true that Enhancement is easier in Cataclysm than WOTLK? I liked my enhancement shaman throughout Wrath I just hate that by ICC the minmaxing and great play doesn't convert into great damage, which in turn obviously is slightly demotivating when you have much easier classes/specs get fed gear just because they simply scale better, not necessarily the players are better, but raw damage is raw damage. I am considering going for a ranged class like fire mage or survival hunter in Cataclysm but I think I will still try to main enh shaman at least for the first phase, maybe even build an elemental off-spec (never really played elemental, but hilariously also a simpler and better scaling spec than enh in ICC). My other worry is that because of Time warp, as well as more classes having enhance shaman utility, I will have to sit out raids and will definiely not be prio'd in main prog groups.

Only thing I disagree with is Disc being easy. Their heals outside atonement aren't that strong, you have to know how to set up spells for incoming damage, and managing Rapture procs so you don't go oom. Yes bubbling then atoning is easy, but theres more to it than that and if thats all you do then youll definitely hear about it.

Is prot warrior not viable? I've got every class at 80 in Wrath; I want something that's a massive pain in the ass to play - unless it's simply not going to be allowed in raids.

Combat is deceptively kind of a pain in the ass to play. Bandit's Guile maximizing, when to Rupture and when not to Rupture while keeping up SnD. Sub is definitely harder though

I am currently playing Holy Priest in wrath because I think that the other healers are a bit too simple and I want a challenge. With it being the off meta pick for wotlk I feel like I have to work very hard to be on par with the other healers and I like that. I don't know if I will like cata hpriest, but its good to know it stays a more difficult spec.

Hpala is by far the hardest heal to master,due meele reg and skillcap

Well if we talk average sub rogue is literaly the only hard spec. If we talk about minmaxing, then unholy, demonology and boomie should be in yellow tier, they are pretty hard to minmax. Also, shadow priest is simply easier to play than destro lock, that is a fact, and survival is easy peasy.

I have a question, I'm pretty new and looking for what class I want to play but struggling to find what to do as I don't know what each has to offer. My favorite things in Mmo's are Melee combat, High Mobility, Damage over time damage, and brawler style combat. (Don't like stun-locking people) Do you have any recommendations for classes based off of that? (I'm mainly a pvp player but I will be raiding)

I would argue Ret and Boomie are a bit more difficult than where they were placed, simply because that last bit of min maxing 1) takes planning (ESPECIALLY with Boomie), 2) much is tied up in utility that most DPS tend to ignore (you have to watch health bars), and 3) is exponentially more difficult for that last bit of value.

as someone who has never played cata before, how interesting/difficult is tanking for both raiding and dungeons? from what i can gather people seem to really enjoy tanking dungeons at the start of the expansion, but i'm curious as to whether or not tanking remains that engaging for the entire expansion, for both dungeon and raid content.

BDK is definitely one of the hardest specs in Cata. You mentioned Prot Pala having many cooldowns, but in reality BDK has almost twice as many cooldowns. As a BDK you have to time your Death Strikes very well (which is a part of your rotation) while doing the Prot Pala rotation has nothing to do with your active mitigation. Every healer (except Holy Priest) should be moved a tier down. Playing a healer in itself is way way more difficult than playing any dps spec.

Putting Bear in easypeasy and cat in moderatly difficult is a bit weird. If you stay in bear 100% of the fight then sure but this is like never the case except morchok or MT. If you play bear and you cant play cat then you are kinda useless.

i just found your stuff today and i love it. as someone who mained an elemental shaman from cata through draenor, i had no idea you all were doing the snapshot with a weak aura, or is that something new since original cata? I would move ele down one step though, my friend have some specs we call 80/20 specs. stupidly easy, any idiot could get the 80, but it takes some decent effort to get that last 20. demon hunter from legion was another one. he watched me do that one and was like "you're playing the easiest class" (same comment he made for elemental) and i told him to pick one up (i actually made a fresh DH with him on another server) and he found out that as easy as it is to start, there was a decent gap between me and him even in the same gear. that's when we started calling some specs 80/20s. based on your comment alone about "me playing an ele is far different than a beginner" i'd imagine you feel it's easier than it is from love and experience. i'm already prepping to re-main my shaman in cata and it's going to be fucking awesome!!! glad i found another ele shammy fan
