Completely disagree with this video. I've been a digital nomad for 4 years now running my business. Here is how to do it successfully: 1. Go for places LONGER (3 to 6 months), not like Ravi who seems like he only went to each place for a month max. This solves a ton of problems, like logistics taking up time, not having a routine, dating, etc. This is called "slow-mading" 2. Actually build a community where you go. Make friends, create a real social circle. That does take time yes. 3. Hire a personal assistant, chef, etc that will make your life easier. Rami says build a "digital residency" where you stay for 10-15 years. That's fine.... But you CANNOT do that without first going and spending time in various locations to figure out which one you actually like. For me, I've spent 3 months to a year in locations such as Rio, Cape Town, Medellin, Poland, Thailand, Toronto, New York, and more... And only now having lived in those various locations do I even understand what I like or dislike in a city. You can't jump to that straight away without nomading. But like I said, take it slow.

Thanks for the input, I'd probably disagree that you "can only select where you want to live with nomading, literally 99.99% of the world does it. But yes, I agree it's feasible if you stay somewhere longer. By definition a "nomad" is usually in one spot for a shorter amount of time (it comes from when entire villages would roam the countryside looking for food), but if you stayed somewhere for longer it could be better. I still don't think it's the best option, as with anything else; going deep on one thing far outweighs shallowness in multiple things.

@@scalewithsystems Ya, but 99% just live where they were born or close to it without venturing out. They're not actually choosing the place that they wanna be, theyre just choosing to be status quo, even if they don't like living in butt fuck nowhere Idaho. If you're saying move outside of where you were, how should someone decide? By googling "best places to live as a business owner"? Thats not a sensible solution if you're suggesting someone to "find a place you like for digital residency" Go actually live there and get proper data on if that place actually fits you. If it does, great, extend and stay. If not, now you know what you dislike so you can narrow down your list. Choosing to just pick a place and living there for 15 years without ever having been there is equal to running 1 ad and putting your entire budget there instead of split testing.

I think we're both saying the same thing, my point is simply that I don't think you need to spend a year and go to 6 places. Ironically you can look online to research best places to live (there are hundreds of forms too) and then make an educated guess based on what you find. Then you travel there, ready to leave in the short-term if it doesn't workout, but also ready to stay there if your theory proves correct.

I think that first you should live a couple of years with the digital nomad lifestyle to know what the best for you, now I'm planning to have a digital residence in Buenos Aires but is because I have lived in NYC, Costa Rica, Bogota... etc, and this city is making me happier that those before... and a lot of it is because I feel safer here and the city is really beautiful.

Great insight! I think a couple of years is aggressive, maybe 6 months, with the purpose of finding your digital residency, but that's simply my point of view!

Amazing video brotha. I literally just went through this paradigm shift a month ago. I spent the last 15 months traveling around South America and Europe while scaling my business and resonated with all of the points you made. Now I'm back in Miami and signed a lease for the next year.

Really appreciate this video Ravi. Great to hear your insights, I travelled SE Asia last year and couldn’t really imagine working from most of the places I visited. Looking at where I’d set up base next and this video came at the perfect time.

By the way, Estonia as a country coined "e-residency" as a term and a way to do business some 5-10 years ago :) It's a cool system, helping people with non-EU residency do multinational business around Europe.

The problem with Miami is it's just too Miami. Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach are much better because it's a little Miami but not too Miami. If that makes sense lol

I prefer to work from Hanoi, Vietnam. There is so much resistence in the States for me. I agree that it's best to choose a place within the right frequency and thrive. That's what I'm trying to do. I've never jumped from place to place. I did have an almost disaster trip in Bangkok. Glad that's over.

Ok, it's official ... I'm now definitely a FAN. I've watched about four of your teaching videos (''Clickup vs Asana' was stellar in helping me FINALLY decide) and just happened upon your fascinating advice / life story / wisdom in this video. How serendipitous, since I just purchased a small camper about a week ago for semi-nomad 'digital travel' (probably just 1 week stints every month or so) hoping to realize epiphanies relating to work during these forays. But, like you, I just love to work, research takes a lot of time, there's not enough hours in the day, And I 'know thyself', I'll use valuable time just as you said, 'in the 'administration side of just living'. Your words of wisdom will be recognized and help me to shift when needed. You sure know the importance of 'telling your story' ('Story Brand'), Interestingly ... I'm even proud of you for rising above, and following your inner wisdom! Way to go, I'm thankful for you!

So I am working to be a Digital Nomad, but the difference is I have a wife and family who would be going with me... We are customizing a motorhome that is decked out (has 2 virtual offices being built for her digital businesses as well as mine), also customizing a catamaran, which also has mobile offices built-in. We will be able to travel and stay for extended times, explore, and come back to whenever. Our thoughts are to have a single homebase (if you feel the need), then pick several places that you would/will frequent more than once, and yes, do the digital residency (per se) but then choose extended time frames of which you would do the digital nomad side. To me, it's a trifeca... We have a home, a motorhome, and a catamaran, and the ability to work anywhere, anytime, we wish. I studied and lived in Europe and South America (2-3 months at a time) and even to this day I still talk to friends (which I consider family) which I met 5-6 years ago, so I have a different point of view. I choose to make friends, connections, and then choose to foster and stay connected weekly/monthly...

Personally, I really like this idea! Obviously travel has its benefits, but this feels like a more sustainable and accessible option for the long term, especially for those of us who want to hunker down and focus on building something
