Watching the series now. My wife and I have had a professional partnership as well, also in DC. They capture the struggles perfectly as well as the insanity of government service.
Really enjoyed this engrossing series. Waiting impatiently for more. Kudos to the interviewer, who was really bright, well-researched, analytical & all-round impressive 👋
I wanted to make a comment concerning the insightful moderator of this interview. Mara did a great job with the thoughtful commentary and questions. I enjoyed watching this very much. I love the Diplomat and eagerly await season 2!
Keri is really an unbelievable actress. I’ve watched so many interviews of her being literally praised by colleagues and she is always so modest and projects it back to them. She’s huge but still underrated imo and should have way more awards.
One of my favorite scenes was when she had Rufus smell her armpits to determine the min amount needed to get ready & him finding pleasure in advising her, in a sweet way. Brilliant scene!
It was a brilliant scene. It encompasses the intimacy of their relationship both physically and professionally. Though why she didn't just go scrub her pits and apply more antiperspirant eluded me.
Thank you Thank you for a great interview! And Kerry and Debora Thank you for giving us a story that is about the incredible skills and talents of a government official who is actually competent, epically competent, in a very meaningful and important way and who wants nothing more than to do her job. We are constantly told in news and drama, how government officials are alternatively corrupt, incompetent, completely ego-centric and/or unreliable. You have given us a vision of what it can look like when someone in a crucially important position actually knows what she is doing and cares deeply to do her job. Government for the people, by the people might actually work!!
I’m so happy you had them comment on the woods scene. that moment was so crucial on her character’s soul. The wisdom she has on the professional and the depth and vulnerability in the personal.
What great in depth questions and not just - whats your favorite food -__- Awesome job by all 3 - what a great watch - love the show.... the back story reveals are the best. Great Entertainment !!!!
Tuned in to the show purely for Kerri Russell. It took until the 2nd episode to start liking it & then it just got better. So glad I tuned in & loved it. The speaks to so many things in a fabulous way.
Interesting series. However my late father was an ambassador ( not of the US) he was cool and dignified. As his children we also had to behave a certain manner as we represent the flag. However she was like all over the place and looks like she doesn’t shower of brush her hair
All true, but the bigger issue is that no one would be considered vice-presidential material based on competency. That is not how we elect politicians.
It was a really great show if you pretend that it’s in a completely made up world. If you think of it in relation to our reality it’s one of the biggest propaganda pieces ever made. But if you can get past that, it’s great.
Request better editing in next season episodes, more on contents cut to cut. Uniqueness of having leadership qualities inherent would be to dump hand on read & go extempore at the same time of bring out strategic theory along get the process explained to achieve. One scene where entering room with 50 other people & immediate boss does allow anything out from you, after closing while leaving flash out conclusive definitive solution in single line, when checked conclude with solution in single line.
Interviewer: Did you ladies mean to be genius with xyz [gives amazing insights]? Debora & Keri: Um... yeah? That was the fun of it... yeah we meant to do that.
