I was looking forward to this one being a fan of The Room and I wasn't disappointed, James Franco invested time and love making this one and he did not make fun of Tommy Wiseau, instead they simply showed his journey into making this film with his friend Greg and realizing their dream, people who watched The Room and are familiar with Tommy Wiseau are going to love it, others would still enjoy it, James Franco was excellent portraying TW.

I guess it's finally time to watch this after having seen 2/5 of the movie in individual scenes on youtube.

A comparison can not only be made between Ed Wood and The Disaster Artist- there is also a strong element of this story in Boogie Nights as well, where Jack Horner sees himself as an artist, even though what he's making appears to everyone else as trash.

Oh hi Jason. I'm stunned at all the positive reviews, I thought this was going to be another mediocre James Franco Seth Rogan collaboration, I'm glad I was so wrong.

Another film I would compare this to is last year's Florence Foster Jenkins, as both are sympathetic portrayals of notoriously (and supposedly obliviously) bad artists.

I enjoyed this movie even without having ever watched The Room.

While the parallel with Ed Wood is tempting, probably because there are not that many biopic movies about directors anyway, I do not think that it is true (at least from the films perspective). Tommy Wiseau realised that he was a bad director -- in the scene of the premiere of the movie -- but Ed Wood died convinced to be as good as Orson Welles never realising how bad he was

The weird thing is that James Franco sounds like James Franco doing Tommy Wiseau.

Hysterical review, but I find Franco too repugnant as himself to support it.

I get the impression from this that Mark doesn't get the charm of The Room. It's unintentionally funnier than most intentional comidies, but Mark just see's it as a really badly made movie from the sounds of this review.

Good movie but not great as expected.The only thing I had issue is The original "the room" is almost dubbed/ADR but the climax premiere disaster artist "the room" is not dubbed/ADR.The movie is fine.hope James Franco get nomination for best actor.
