When the left is offended by something it's because they're fragile little snowflakes who screech every time someone is mildly racist or sexist. When the right is offended by something it's because the media is pandering to leftists by talking about the problems with capitalism and systemic injustices faced by minorities, and has a lot of woke people(women(feminists) and minorities) in it. Also we're not offended. Only snowflakes get offended, we're just annoyed because it gets shoved deep down our throats all the time. Shut up. It's not being offended when we do it.
All the right wingers are offended by the sheer mentioning of feminism or communism. At the same time, you rarely see the opposite with leftists complaining about racist options options. I wonder who the snowflakes really are.
Eh, while some are probably offended others are probably just genuinely annoyed. I certainly am, I want to like playing this game but it relies almost 100% on its writing which while very unique has the problem that it adresses things it clearly has no deeper understanding off. Every political view is taken the shit out of for example. Which is fine, every view has its flaws. The problem is that almost all of those flaws only apply when the ideology is followed as badly as possible. Which fits cause the place is a run down dump but also makes most of the writing pretty hot or miss.

I hate to say how true this is. Disco Detective woke up without remembering he had a slipped disc a few years back and didn't bring his lumbar support to that crate. Dead. 11/10 most realistic RPG.
Nooo, you don't understaaand. It's only "offensive" when it teeters on the verge racism, misogyny and homophobia. Only SJWs get offended. What us conservatives and rightwingers feel when we get angry when someone is clowning on us is not "offense", it's a completely rational righteous anger. I am very smart.

I found it hilarious too. The person clearly was intent on seeing omly what they wanted to see. The game often goes out of way to poke fun at near every view.
This is the only game I've ever had a chat with a racist lorry driver about bad these foreigners are, then received a packet of cigarettes as a reward. Then had a conversation with a racist security guard, internalised advanced race theory, then discovered the truth about how occidental haplogroup B4 controls the media.
i mean when you consider awesome communist politics, feminist commentary, or basically anything remotely leftist "sjw and non offensive" then i guess it fits. conservative brainrot lol
5:28 the only, and I mean only, instance of the phrase "white male" being used in the entirety of Disco Elysium is when the detective identifies the victim as a "white male in his forties." "non-offensive game that is afraid to offend everyone" - guy who is very clearly offended by the game, about a game in which you can shoot a child in the face for being annoying
two kinds of political reviews: "the game made fun of my conservative beliefs" - not recommended "the game made fun of my leftist beliefs" - recommended
In that guy’s defense it’s difficult to figure out how to auto-run. It’s probably the most important control, one without a clickable equivalent and it’s not even listed in the controls menu. I walked slowly everywhere my entire first day haha
There are reviews both positive and negative for the politics the game supposedly espouses. But all of the reviews that reference punching a child are 100% positive. Truly there are greater dreams that bind Man together.
@@ambmamb8370 The only time any mainstream entities like politicians and corporations make any mention of "Revolution" is to say "no one has ever done this thing we're doing before" mostly as a selling point to buy their product. The concept of overthrowing the government is so far out of normal political discourse that most americans unironically lump revolutionary leaning leftists with far right extremists. I feel like westerners THINK they're left leaning purely because they're "not racist" (note: Not as racist as literal slavers, which is still pretty racist.) and allow gay people to exist. Other then that, to them, the current world is the best the world could possibly be, and any mention of bettering has to be in such slow increments that change is completely unnoticeable and even ineffective.
People saying it's designed to be inoffensive just send me for a loop especially considering that statistically at least 90% of people will meet a drug-addicted child who cusses you out and calls you a f****t within the first hour of gameplay

The funniest thing about the unhinged negative reviews is how they sound like they could be a characters from Disco Elysium themselves. Some passages from this video out of context would make for killer lines in a sequel. Guess the rumors are true, that many original characters were based on prolific twitter posters...

I'm still kind of amazed at the guy who thinks that "White People Bad" is somehow the message of DE. I assume he had like an allergic reaction or something the first time the game suggested that racism is bad and immediately deleted it, least the Cultural Marxism infest him.
@@GangsterFrankensteinComputer It's pretty obvious the disco elysium world is supposed to be a parallel to our own, and most of the although fictionally named races are pretty clearly supposed to be real life ones, like Cuno and his family being scotts, Measurehead and Liz being either subsaharan or caribbeans, Specially with the accents which are just real life accents with another name
@@dogg6628 it's pretty clear what races/ethnicities the game references. However, the funniest thing about the measurehead rant was casually calling a race "mosquitos" in the most serious and superior tone that his accent allows.

2:00 non-offensive? I think its the exact opposite. This has to be one of the most politically controversial game simply because of the sheer amount of NPCs with differently branching ideologies. Its like a political FFA
And the hilarious point of Harry being able to be a communist, hustler, gay, racist, fascist feminist simultaneously. HDB has no idea what cognitive dissonance is (and made funnier when Kim and your squad comment on it at the end of the game)
@@SleepyMatt-zzz echo-bubble people. For them, rich political representation in the game a "ridiculously big amount of (leftist? Sexist?) idiots with which i do not agree"
obviously. many of these reviews are bad. but i got stuck on the one at 9:10. do they think that all a alcoholics have a dark tragic backstory?? my dude substance abuse can happen to anyone. and for harry it started with untreated mental health issues and joining a stressful job. those are realistic issues!
Those people need to go touch the grass, 'cause they want some epic Hollywood character background, with plottwist and etc. Meanwhile, if you actually try to get into the Harry past, you will find man so broken, that it''s proubably better let him finally forget all the shit that happend to him. Each time you digging to the past - character suffers, even the game itself tells you to not do it.
honestly i think living in a poor world surrounded by expanding pale, and the woman you love and want to have family with aborting your child and moving aways its tragic enough. Its just more real than the hollywood tragic backstory they are thinking of, i guess
Also Harry a best cop at his police station. Which kind of ridiculously contradicts the impression from the beginning of the game where he lies doggystyle after a hardcore booze. Pretty epic in my opinion. And by the way, the pain of breaking up with girlfriend is described so realistically that I received mental damage at the same time as Harry, and had to take a break. The author obviously went through this himself, it is impossible to know such nuances of how exactly you are torn to shreds from the inside in such a situation otherwise.
Fire emblem famously uses two RNG checks to make high displayed probabilities even higher and vice-versa, though. They blatantly lie about odds bacause it feels better in the end.
Just any xcom game in general, although it isn't quite as bad for the new ones because there are less variables that are decided by a percentage chance dice roll
His display name was "tread on serpents", which strikes me as an anti-libertarian/right wing, pro-"SJW"/left wing display name. WHOSE SIDE IS HE ON!? Maybe he's a nazbol.
I love the negative review where the player expected a hero with a dark past vs a mysterious killer, and it turned out it's an ex-gym teacher turned alcoholic cop vs a loser political officer with PTSD on his island. Disco Elysium is truly about the insanity of the mundane.
1:45 hol up, gay propeganda, male and male scenes?? Conservatives are wild, the game basically just mentions gay people, you literally don't see a single thing and if you were to play the game without digging into the homosexual undergroung and talking extensively to all side characters very few people are actually confirmed to be gay but they're so fragile even that is enough to send them raging into the reviews. Imagine being that fragile, can't relate. Unless there's some hardcore gay porn that I managed to miss in my playthrough, Harry and Kim just go nuts if you choose not to sleep on the island or something 😂
I like to imagine a world where gays are as fragile as straights, and have spent the last :checks watch: 12 thousand years bitching about all the guy/girl relationships in all the stories humanity ever told. Instead gay people came up with the ultimate solution: Shipping.
Two kinds of reviews "this game is propaganda and offends my political views, died in dumb random ways, 0/10" "this game is propaganda and offends my political views, died in dumb random ways, 10/10"
You are not Kras Mazov. You are Raphaël Ambrosius Costeau, the second coming of Guillaume le Million, the one whose return shall bring the end of days.
The one that I really have to draw attention to "game's finale is bad, guy who did it was a hater" Yeah, man. Sometimes life isn't all an interconnected web of intrigue. Sometimes you get your brain hollowed out while you were trying to nut by a mad grandpa who's been holed up on a deserted fort island since the fall of Communism.
it is interconnected tho thematically the past, nostalgia lost love, getting older and moving on on levels of politics, psychology and personal relationships
@@ambmamb8370 I understand that perspective perfectly, but the simple fact is that to view it that way is to view it disconnected from immediacy. Grandpa didn't shoot War Crimes because he knew him, because he didn't. Anything beyond that is not an immediate concern.
I loved how much the killer was borne of the setting, giving this huge payoff for how much the setting was front and center throughout the game. Him being a nobody is fantastic because it only further highlights how little the actual case mattered to anyone but us. Anyone who cared about War Crimes is already dead or otherwise moved on. No one in Martinaise cares for this case to be solved. It's Harry's--and the player's--own dogged persistence that push them through to see it all done. Having it be some big reveal or character we already knew wouldn't feel right.
I love how we all agree Kim Kitsuragi is life The slighest disdain from him was enough to crush me. Made me fall to my knees. Also. The chair? I felt so seen.
Ah yes, the game really needed to show more than one kind of such morally gray behaviour as _checks notes_ being racist. Also I didn't like the game because _checks notes again_ the author is Estonian. What? I'm not mad, you're mad! These reviews are truly the gift that keeps on giving.
Like, yea "oh yes that finnish shithole in Eastern Europe, they dont know what immigration crisis is, thats why they say wrong thing about being racist to immigrants!(its actually a reasonable thing!)" wtf, most of the world dont have problem with immigration crisis, why ever all games must see the world from american perspective?
Imo people complain about the same stuff they like in other games just the fact they didn’t have a good time so the whole game is bad. “First 15 minutes died” hmm you’re missing the rest of the game there before your review.
now are we talking far right as in anti-socialist pro individualism, or far right as in sitting between international and national socialism proclaiming national socialism is the only evil
The climax of this game was one of the best climax i have played in any game, using only two bullets. I never expected such a gripping standoff from a majorly text based game.
i'm pretty sure the people complaining that this game forces one political view on you think that cod is completely apolitical and doesn't push any agenda at all
I love the people who didn’t even look at the screenshots and just was like “yeah let’s go! Detective game! Shooting bad guys!” They’re so innocent and I wish them the best in finding their cops and robbers game
"when leftists try to send a subtle political message you end up with disco elysium" yeah and when conservatives try to send a subtle political message you have a 50/50 chance of something unironically titled "TRIGGERED?" or birth of a nation. at least disco elysium is funny
I know nothing about Disco Elysium and this was a rollercoaster of emotions and opinions. I'm more confused about what this game is about than before I knew it existed 10/10
I absolutely adore the complete lack of self awareness of criticizing the game for stating "how racism is only for the low IQ crowd / MAGA crowd". "How DARE my game not portray racism as a cohesive and diverse philosophy for very high IQ people??"
Has anyone else noticed that rightwingers and racist guys surprisingly enough tend to chose high PSY and INT builds? This leads them to interactions that lean towards empathy and rethoric pointing them towards the feminist and communist dialog options that trigger them so much right at the begining of the game. I'm not sure if they have enough self awareness to get triggered by the fascist props of the icebreaker questline.
I mean it's all perspective no? Even empathy and rhetorical processes are just dialectics of their perspective culture. Even if we are to assume high empathy within the writing it does not mean the same conclusion in cultural terms. Like from one highly Intelligent person to another will see a trajedy and with equal empathy come to polar opposite approaches. As for rhetoric, it is just a tool to obfuscate meaning for power in a public setting. Rhetoric is performative not principled, and it's useful for any cause and to push any narrative. Dismissing a group by insulting intelligence is also a rhetorical device which is a narrative of dehumanization.
@@charlesramirez587 I'm just talking in the context of the game. A high level of those skills at the start of the game will present dialog options and props that tend to trigger conservatives that's all. Going deeper into the specifics, that's because Empathy will make Harry interested into the reason why Sylvie left the Cafeteria, that being he himself being absolutely deranged for the last 7 days straight. Not knowing that fact, but having some emotional sense of it, his instincts points suspicions at Garte. Add Harry's tendency to project and reconceptualize his internal stuff and you get his "INEXPLICABLE femminist agenda". The contrast is made very clear if you fail all those empathy passive checks and instead get the "cock carousel" quest. Rethoric is, as you well point out, just a tool, and can lead just as well to communism as to Measureheads advanced race theory.
@@charlesramirez587 #1 nobody asked #2 have you played disco elysium? The rhetoric and empathy are skills in the game, both of which are communists. All the skills in the game have their own agendas and try to steer you in different ideological directions, that's what the above commenter was talking about.
I'm more curious that they didn't opt out. Because Communist thought can be the earliest and easiest to ignore, and feminist thought can be easily twisted into misogyny with few interpretative takes and choices after talking with the waiter.
This game has so much RP potential. My Harry was an apolitical guy who was trying his best to quit drinking, be a good cop and put his life together. You dont have to be that silly or political if you dont want to. You can tell the voices to F-off and avoid low rolls if you want.
I went around agreeing with everyone, because I was trying to create empathy with the witnesses and suspects to extract the most information. Kim tried to scold me for saying things he disagreed with and I got to call him an idiot.
I love that guy at 1:42 - he's obviously mad about this game and got really upset over it, but then also says "fluffy non offensive" and "promotes socialism in the entire game" in the same review 💀 EDIT: Okay, sorry, I didn't get to the obvious Antisemitist part in the review yet, holy shit
And also that he's an equivalent of russian 'sjw' in some regard, considering very few russians would say that soviets kіІІеd millions of people. Especially now.
Dying to the chair (and being mad about it) is a skill issue tbh. I had 1 health through most of my first run and just stocked up on medicine. You've got multiple seconds watching your health tick down to use one, and I had a small stockpile throughout the majority of the game even though I had to use one every time I took damage. Edit: Not to say it didn't push me towards finding ways around most of the health damage (my morale was high enough I was pretty much immortal on that front).
