@@KICK-EEZ the horror stories about Front Sight were the repeated marketing efforts. The training, while it taught the out-dated weaver stance, was safe, and very focused on teaching solid fundamentals. There were lecture classes on color code of mental awareness, high-stress decision making, legal liabilities of defensive shooting, etc. that were held during lunchtime or after the range day had ended. A two-day handgun course fired around 250 rounds and the four-day course fired about 600. I found that there was a point in time where I knew I needed to train elsewhere to improve my skill set and move to the next level, but I will never regret the training I received at Front Sight. It was organized, safe and gave me a great base to grow from.
Yeah it's never good when a company screws someone over like that but I doubt this new one will make those mistakes. We aren't aware of any of the internals that went on with the ownership change and memberships, just showing the new facility.
Is there some type of relationship between Front Site and Prairie Fire? This is the first I’ve heard of them. Is this the old Front Site Nevada location?
A large undertaking for sure. Safety being paramount. The experience will not be cheap yet should folks be serious about firearms, their own skill level, security of their family community this has the potential of being a place of interest. The many recent events throughout this country definitely will put this facility high on a list for those wanting to help find resolve within themselves. Can understand the magnitude of what she referred to in the beginning on the number of people visiting that area. If they can get even 2%, then it will be enough to keep the doors open. I wish them well in this new venture.
I started my training at Front Sight. It was great facility and had very good instructors. Looks like Prairie Fire made some improvements. It would be great to go there for training some day.
Sounds amazing! Hopefully there will be a whole lot of options price wise!.. Splurging is fun to get down with the heavy metal.. However, it would be also cool to not break the bank... The size of the upcoming pro shop is insanely big!!! Next time in Vegas, I am not going to miss this!
I spent $200 for a basic membership and upgraded for another $100. I’d been there several times with friends and family. I didn’t lose a dime! Even though the place always had tons of people, the nagging question was “How’s he make any money?”
Front sight training was great for beginner shooters. The problem with Front Sight was the unsustainable financial tactics of the owner--not the training. The firearms training could have certainly evolved, but it was generally solid with good instructors. The classroom lectures were minimal, very high quality, and a nice break from the elements. It was sad to see if fall, but many members figured it was only a matter of time. It will be a challenge for the new owners to run this successfully, but I wish them luck.
I was there last week, just driving by. Had a great tour with Art. Awesome range. I will become a member, and stop every time I drive by to visit my daughter.
The real carrier of the FS mantle is the Constitutional Defense Center in Fredricksburg, TX with some of the old FS instructors, though at the moment they concentrate on the 2 day and 4 day handgun course.
You should put in a landing strip for flyers... that's what I missed with Front Site. i believe it would attract more weekend shooters. Good Luck... from a former Front Site member...
My wife & I spent several thousands of dollars for what we were told were 'lifetime' memberships at frontsight. A little sour on the fact that part of the settlement didn't include honoring those memberships.
Place is amazing!! My friends and I had the opportunity to tour the facility and shoot a PCSL 1 gun and 2 gun match for media day last year before opening to the public. definitely worth checking out!!
It is to bad that those of us that that had lifetime memberships to Front Sight and spent thousands of dollars over the years, weren't given that same membership with Prairie Fire, their new costs are prohibitive due to your location. I was looking forward to being able to stay onsite in the RV park or rooms that Dr. P promised.
Wish you all the best! Very cool! Honestly you probably need to put up a nice hotel or lodge along with the club house, an hour drive is probably your biggest detriment.
It would be nice to honor front sight memberships to bring in that clientele as we were screwed due to the bankruptcy of front sight due to their bankruptcy. I am skeptical about buying any memberships due to the possibility of another bankruptcy. It just seems that those with a lot of money would be able to shoot there.
Why should the new owner have to honor something that went through BK from an entirely different company? We have seen that with a few ranges but haven't see new companies take over the debt of a previous bad owner.
@@KICK-EEZno one said “have to”. He said it would be nice. A lot of good people got screwed over by a guy I refer to as a used car salesman. I don’t think PF should eat the whole cost, but meeting them half way or showing some kind of love would go a long way in getting the thousands of FS members back.
I tried their dual in the desert match and it was strange. advertised as special operations based and was a ton of memorization which is different from any other shooting competition style. even as a vegas local i don't plan on going out there ever again except for maybe pcsl if they get that going other than the pcsl nationals.
Had the FS membership and couldn't take advantage of it. Now I hope to get there at least once. No interest in Vegas, but that will offer plenty of places to stay.
It's been many years since I was there, but it still looks much the same. I thought they did a good job of their 4-day pistol class. Piazza had grand plans for the place, but it was pretty much a pyramid scheme. It would be nice if they put in the RV park they had talked about. The long range shooting site over the top of the breeching area seems a little odd. But then, the breeching training place was a little weird. Not a bad facility, I hope they do something good with it rather than starting up another racket. I wasn't too impressed with the literature they sent out after taking over the place.
This is a huge undertaking. Being that its like Disney, they should concentrate on a certain section and expand from there. A method to the expansion of each course/facility, and not just scattered half jobs.
@@sheepdawg6946 I remember him I went with a bunch of other people to the grand opening sales pitch. He told the girls they could go shopping while we talked about shooting. My wife - a deputy sheriff - was so pissed, we never joined or went.😂 what a jackass! Oh, and he declared himself a combat master🤣
@@KICK-EEZcome on, you cant tell your audience you had no idea about the history of this range. I assume the PF staff forbid you from talking about it.
Their prices are ridiculous. You have to have an annual membership of $300-500 per person whether you use it or not, and you have to pay $250 per day for any class. That is the "deal" they gave Front Sight members, and for only the first two years. The annual membership costs more after two years and for non-Front Sight members. That doesn't include rentals or ammo. I think I'll try the NRA Wittington Center. Its $350 per day for any class and no membership required; and the class offerings are better. Front Sight had amazing classes (both options and quality). I know the Front Sight business model was unsustainable, but Prairie Fire's prices are absurdly expensive for what they offer. Their current offering of classes is minimal.
The front sight setup was a nightmare trap for anyone that had enough interest to get on their email list. A friend of mine made the mistake of requesting some info from them and it turned into an automated "no-reply spam" that filled his email box every day with no chance to unsubscribe. It was definitely the brain child of a con artist in the beginning.
Looks to be $200 per day which is very reasonable. But whats the training going to look like? What are the creds of the instructors, and are they still teaching the dated styles taught by Frontsight? While Im salty at that A.H. iggy over what he did to Frontsight, that place was like home and I just might have to come back to prariefire for the nostalgia. Though now with the cost, the distance and its expense doesnt feel nearly as worth the squeeze. Idk, well see.
Luna.......I was just thinking front site. I hope the management is better. also, you might watch out, Biden joe might consider prairie fire a militia training camp ! lol
The best thing about the training offered by Front Sight was that every offering was open to everyone. It didn't matter if you were civilian, military, law enforcement, or other government official. There were no "law enforcement or military" only courses. It seems like with the way this Olympics Shooter describes it, Prairie Fire, IS in fact going to be excluding civilians from certain courses or training that is ONLY for non-civilians. As a previous 8 year Lifetime Front Sight member who had attended numerous courses, it is heartbreaking to see our old resort look like a ghost town. For years, Front Sight was bustling with students year round and the planned resort that Prairie Fire wants to develope should absolutely include full hook-up RV accommodations if they want to show former Front Sight members they are interested in our training dollars. It was a long time in the works and should be a high priority for Prairie Fire to develop in a timely manner. This should be developed simultaneously with the planned hotel. To eliminate the RV accommodations sends a clear message that Prairie Fire has no interest in regaining the former Front Sight members/investors as a part of their growth model.
She literally said there are tons of training facilities for military or LEO only but not too many where civilians can come and also get access to that type of training. The quality of the training at Front Sight was not good at all. I was a life long member there and I took a few classes and was very disappointed with their old and antiquated tactics they were teaching. I got much higher quality training going to one off training courses with nationally knows trainers. It’s no wonder Front Sight failed. They had a poor quality product with a bunch of old timers that didn’t want to adapt with the changing times.
Every range I've shot at here in AZ has a well managed 'main range' where anyone can shoot under the control of a range master with seriously monitored and enforced rules for safety and ceasefire protocol. In order to gain access to the 'expert' areas you have to show a history of managed competitive events shooting steel or CQB then you can get a badge displaying your certification that allows you to shoot on any station unsupervised. The old Front Sight was a clusterfuck.
I too was a Front sight member from the beginning, it was supposed to be for my retirement to bring the kids & Have a blast, they went into bankruptcy just before I retired. I had soooo many credits built up none of it would have cost me anything. Such a bummer. I still have all the training manuals. They were supposed to allow us access to FS TV for two years but cut us off from it early.
@@erikfed4324 didn’t bring the big lens unfortunately and the batteries ran out in the drone but we’ll be back to shoot it and will have everything with us.
there is nothing "prairie" about that site lol. That is flat hard desert. It's a nice facility but it's no prairie 🙂Shot there when it was Front Sight, it's a great place. They should do their free subgun class again. That was a blast.
Yea, good luck guys, I went to Frontsight 10 years strait. You probably should have not left us behind. I don't think you will ever fill the amount of classes I saw at Frontsight without legacy support. you don't have mine yet.
I'm in Florida and wish we had something like that down here. I would rather go there before any attraction park. Now the trick is to convince my family that this is a better vacation spot than Disney and Universal.
I Spent $2500 for my initial membership, then another $2500 to raise it up to Diamond, then another $500 to bring it up to Guardian. I got about 10 memberships which I sold for $500 each, so I was into this $500. I did 34 classes over the 17 years I was a member so that works out to $14.70 per class. I think I got my moneys worth? The biggest problem I see with Prairie Fire is not keeping the 100,000 to 250,000 previous members. How stoopid can you be? You had a large member base to start with, all you had to do was offer the same classes and add on the stuff you wanted, and charge $50 a day to cover costs. The last time we were there was in April of 2022 and there was 900 people there. IN all the classes we went to over the years there was always at least 200 people in the Big Classroom for lunch. There is only about 4-5 months out of the year that the place is inhabitable, the rest of the year it is either over 100F or near Freezing with 40 MPH winds. In all the videos that Prairie Fire has put out I have yet to see even one person shooting in a class? I see a lot of Pie in the Sky and we're gonna make this Disneyland and blah blah blah. But nothing actually happening? When I hear about the Hotel and RV Facility, and other BS, all I see is the Site Model that was in the Classroom, and now finding out that Piazza is still on as a "Marketing Consultant" really makes me wonder WTF is going on behind the scenes? Front Site was all about "Gun Handling." That's where you went to learn how to shoot your new Pistol, Rifle or Tactical Shotgun. And all of the Instructors could show you how to run anything! Last year they supposedly had some classes scheduled, Beginning Pistol and Carbine (AR15 only) and advanced Pistol and Carbine (again AR15 only) so a Mini 14 or any other rifle is not allowed? Really? All but one of my 15 Rifle classes were shot with guns other than my AR. I even shot one with my Ruger.308 Scout Rifle. But when we went there during the SHOT Show earlier this year, there was no classes going and nobody shooting other than the Factory Guys and Gun Writers. We went back in May and it was nobody shooting at all! I don't see this new Regime making it? And without the previous memberships being reinstated, it is Factually IMPOSSIBLE!!! The simple fact is, "more people on site = more money coming in!" " NO people on site means nothing coming in!!!!! " My .02,,, but I don't think I'm in the minority on this one? Please tell me where I'm goin' wrong here?
Bunch of Bitter OLD Frontsighters in the comments... I think the place looks awesome. I can see the hard work put in and the potential this place has. The world needs more places like this. Thanks for the updates.
The "hard work" you see in this video was all there when FS went bankrupt. From what's shown here the new owners rearranged the classroom, tore down the perfectly functional shoot houses, and built LARPing Canyon. Cool I guess.
@@daviddeas6486 $2k initially and he declared bankruptcy shortly after. As soon as proceedings started he started sending out almost extorting emails asking for more money. I fell for the first $500 and then things really went into a tailspin. The emails almost took on a threatening tone. All told, that crook took $2500 of my hard earned money and I got exactly nothing out of it. Living at least a full day drive from the place the membership made sense since it was very inclusive, but I was too dumb to see the “too good to be true” aspect of it. Fool me once…. I’ve sworn off almost any sort of all inclusive member packages since then. It was an expensive but good lesson. But I still think Piazza has some criminal liability for his actions, but it’s not worth more money to go after him. He defrauded a lot of people and I’m pretty sure he laughed all the way to the bank.
200 a day isnt bad. Locally I get training that exceeds the quality that Frontsight offered in that it was up to date, and its 150 a day. But if you want to train with Thunder ranch for example, youre over $600 a day. Id say the cost they are doing is fair, so long as the training is up to date. Id love to go back, but I need to see after a few years as I wont be a beta tester for that price. Not once lodging, gas, and time off are factored in.
They didn't buy anything out...the previous owners filed Bankruptcy and the new owners purchased the property through the BK. They don't owe anybody money, the previous owners do but sadly, that was lost in the BK.
I was a FS Life member too, sadly the course costs projected by the new ownership will put this place out of reach of most of the former FS members. :(
i see they have the same exact pipe dreams as good ole Ignatios Piozzo !!!!! make sure to UPDATE this video when all PROJECTS are finished in 3 or 4 years! hahahahahaha unbelievable.... because it is!
I just too a moment to read about the death of FS, the CON Artist who ran killed it not anyone else. His business plan didn't work and you want these guys to continue it.
Exactly...it's crazy people want to punish new owners who are flipping the bill to keep a huge place like this open, affordable and approve on it but be punished for a shady previous owner.
@@KICK-EEZ No. That’s why it’s a rumor. We are sending a team out next week for the SWAT Competition, and I’m scheduled to go back in Dec for the PCSL 2-Gun Championship. We will see if they make it or not.
The doors are NOT for breaching good grief. They are for teaching how to move into a room correctly. Front Sight lifetime members got screwed in the deal, but good luck in your future.
Bummer that Prairie Fire just dumped all the previous employees even though they told us they wouldn’t and had us fill out background checks and go through hiring. Also a bummer that their prices are way higher than even the most expensive training in the industry.
RIP Front Sight. Sounds like the new owners are making all the same mistakes with concert venues and BMX tracks LOL. Just build a functional range/school with competent staff and reasonable costs and people will come.
@@KICK-EEZno that's not at all what I'm saying but uh ok. Clearly you haven't done your homework on the multi-decade history of this range. Idiotic non-shooting/training side projects are part of what killed Front Sight originally. Sad to see PF going down the same path.
As a Front Sight First Family Member who was among many to get screwed over. I don't think I will support the new owners who took it over without honoring the existing First family memberships.
What is the business plan and what is the funding? 1-1/2 hours round trip is a lot of travel time unless you are able to stay over. Seems to me that, so far, the concept is mostly pie in the sky. Excluding ANY group from participation would seem to be a form of financial suicide to a business needing funding.
@@KICK-EEZ You realize that Prairie Fire bought the Front Sight facility, sent an email out to all Front Sight members telling them there membership is no longer valid, but can buy an Prairie Fire membership for a much higher cost right?
Nearly all of the "wow" features that you're giving them credit for were built by lifetime members of Frontsight. not Prairie Fire! And Prairie Fire didn't offer us even a Thank You or a token of thanks with memberships in their program.
@@larrycutting4514 it’s a completely different company, why should they owe anyone? I get being angry from Front Sight screwing their members but you can’t hold that against the new guys who are now spending good money and keeping a place for everyone to enjoy.
