Thank you for not blaming the music. Though it isn't my preference, I still appreciate that you held the individual accountable and not what he listened to.
@Floortile83

From what I've seen, it's bad parenting that causes kids to rebel. Sometimes they rebel by listening to music their parents don't like and dressing in ways their parents don't like. That's why that type of music/scene attracts them. But it's the fault of bad parenting, not the music. Same with anti police and anti government groups. They're the result of bad policing and bad governing, causing ppl affected by it to start and join those groups.

Strict parenting, over parenting, helicopter parenting. Music was the only escape from my reality a lot of the time. I found comfort in artist like Tyler the creator. It’s not that I agreed with what he was saying but expressing himself in ways that I wasn’t really allowed. Wasn’t allowed to do alot so it was nice for someone to portray to be totally opposite of the life i was forced to live 🤮

Music? Wtf music? It’s always the Parents fault. It starts with genetics. Like before people fuck do you guys make a comprehensive list of everything that’s ran through your families? No one does but you can use your brain right?
@ChrisJack1212

@@shakeybonessrh maybe you haven't heard of other cases where law enforcement and lawyers blamed what defendants listened to, rather than the individuals. There are also instances where people have become suspects because they were deemed satanic due to their musical preferences, such as "The West Memphis Three". Placing the blame on musical interests is not novel, hence my post.

I'm a little confused, if he didn't bathe for days after the murders and continued wearing the same bloody clothes, how did the police not see the blood stains on his clothes or his body during the welfare checks or when they investigated the noise in the basement? Also why would they not search the whole house to make sure it was clear along with the basement? The smell, might not have been as bad as neighbors made it sound, Mel's dad sat there for 8hrs. Then went home, surely he would have reported a strange odor considering he was trying to find his daughter, but the stink on the murderer was definately noticeable according to the tow truck driver. Police had several interactions with that psycho kid and didnt notice anything odd?

After searching "likelihood of committing crimes in relation to corporal punishment" I found several more articles that make similar points (including the WHO, IJP, and NIH). However I did find one website (parlia) that paints it in a better light saying it is a strong deterrent. I guess your sample group of one might not have enough weight. Thats one way to see it. My take on him was more like: His Voice was shacking. He was so full of adrenaline and most likely couldn't even comprehend what he really did. He broke in this moment. Like everything before is gone, he can never go back. After that, he went numb emotionaly. He knew, nothing he says is changing what he did and he knew he will get caught sooner or later, so he did what he wanted till this moment. And it's possible, that you get so shocked, you go emotionaly numb. His reason was most likely: he was so full of hate and abuse (he was abused by somebody in school or family) and wanted to escape. His escape was with this girl. But she didn't want him and he was "stuck" (in his mind at least) at their place. They most likely abused (verbaly) him. He couldn't flee from there and at some point he was so fed up with everything, that he couldn't handle it anymore (like one drop of water spills the glass). He NEEDED this to stop. They didn't stop till it was to late and he killed them. (than the video happened) Either the parents heard this and tryed to stop him or he waited for them to not get "discovered" sooner. Either way, they need to go. I dont try to defend him or anything. There is no reason to kill another human unless he killed first (i'm for the death sentence). Yeah, lots of good info. I think it's very interesting his dad threw his mom out of the family home. That suggests his dad was abusive and possibly misogynistic. If he witnessed his father physically and verbally abusing his mother from childhood, it could shed some light on his violence to the three females in the house. Males who abuse female partners frequently had a father who was a domestic abuser, and grew up being influenced by him and disrespecting women as a result. Big Incel vibes from the killer. He was obviously enraged that Emma didn't find him attractive (huge arrogance he ever assumed she would - he was punching well above his weight and should have known it), and angry and humiliated that her friend and mother knew she'd given him the brush off. Males who abuse/kill females can't handle rejection. The chance of a woman being killed by her abusive partner rockets, as soon as she leaves him or even mentions she might leave him. This guy was surely a ticking time bomb. The fact he was 20 and pursuing an online relationship with a 16 year old girl he'd never met, speaks volumes about him. It's doubtful he'd ever had a serious relationship, so was pinning all his hopes on this 'virtual' girlfriend. Chances are he would always kill a woman when she rejected him.

He was quoting the Virginia Tech Shooter from 2007...back then a Rapper named Rotten Mouth in that scene made a song called "I had to", the song ends with the audio manifesto line from the shooter saying "I had to do it". That was one of Sam's favorite songs. Sam started out working with Wicked Intent Records/Radio. Rotten Mouth originally was in the crew I managed, B.B.N. (Bonded By Narcotics). He then switched to Wicked Intent when they started up. There's an insane amount of backstory I can give you that will make you understand it. For example, when he turns around walking into the Station and says "Jesus Made Me Do It"...that comment was made for ME and a handful of others because we joked that we should say that if we ever get caught for murder because everyone always says "the devil made me do it". The simple fact is that Sam saw his Fantasy Online Girlfriend break up with him. She was more influential in that scene than him, so he knew he was about to lose the entire group of friends when she went online talking about him. He couldn't handle all of that hitting him. That's what happened, and you can quote me on that as a source. The guy formerly known as [Hate] told you that.

But when people who listen to satanic music about slaughtering people, and make that genre a sort of cornerstone of their social life, I feel like it's not unreasonable to point it out when they become real life lyrics to one of their awful songs, if that makes any sense. Also I would say the father really dropped the ball allowing that in his home, blaspheming Christ on the bathroom walls and what not. There's a place to acknowledge youthful boundary pushing and a place to put your foot down.

@@nicholashodges201 Yes, people often have that kneejerk response you've just given me. It gets less and less convincing as every year goes by. I can't actually believe it was ever convincing. Like listening to satanic music about slaughtering people and hating God, will not have marked effects on people significantly different and less desirable than should a person choose to listen to more edifying music and believe in God. You could also easily scale this up society wide, but then you are in danger of flirting with social conservatism, and I know that's unacceptable to a certain type of person. Whenever I was at his house he would actually start crying and ask me to kill it for him because he was THAT scared of them. months after the first time i watched this video, it still haunts me. It brings back weird nostalgia for the times of early social media and my budding social life in the early 2000s, and there's an odd sense of familiarity to the beginning events in this story, i can't quite place it. I was carbon cop of McCroskey at that age, during that same time period. My personality, my disposition, and my desperation to be cool and accepted, and noticed by the opposite sex. Obviously he and i took separate paths in life. This story is just so sad, and sickening.

It should be the police's job to make sure people are okay, but it isn't. The Supreme Court ruled multiple times back in the 80s that the police have no specific duty to protect you, even when they know you are under threat from a known offender. In 2020, the SC ruled that police cannot be held liable for failure to act during an active school shooting after the Parkland murders, so it's unlikely that any future event is going to unpick that anytime soon. The motto "To Protect and Serve" isn't backed up by anything.

@GodNotReal (In general) there are people who admit to crimes like murder they didn’t commit as an attempt to get attention, it can be caused by lack of attention from family members or friends in childhood, it could start as destructive behavior (breaking toys, bullying siblings or classmates etc) and form into more violent behaviors as they get older (harm to themselves, siblings, animals etc) and in some cases it goes further over the edge ie breaking and entering, armed robbing and sometimes murder, some that can’t bring themselves to actually commit murder could admit to unsolved crimes to get attention whether it’s positive or negative
