I found it as a very bold creative decision to edit out all of the conversations about football, which originally took up the majority of the 8 and a half hour recording session.

Greetings from nearby Syracuse, Ny. Lots of interesting threads to pull on, but here's one that seemed especially salient and interesting. Now pls engage with this in good faith because it's going to sound crazy... As I've come to understand the idea of 'sacrament', not just narrowly defined to the "Sacraments", but the symbolic interpenetration of heaven and earth, I've come to understand, I think, the reason protestant mega-churches seek more and more intricate worship services. Very simply, music is the closest thing they have to (big S) Sacrament. So when I hear you gents talking about music and the services of the Orthodox Church, I think 'woah, that's what the mega-production churches (and all the little churches that attempt to imitate them) are seeking for', but they are coming about to that longing through an un-traditioned way. If you walk into a protestant church with a contemporary service, it is no longer 'four bare walls and a pulpit', but it has banners, color, no icons but images of nature, crosses, no incense but fog... All to support its music and engage the full embodied human experience and not just in a carnal way, I should say, but to help heaven meet earth. (Note: I'm certainly no apologist for this king of 'worship service' btw, just drawing a parallel and wondering what you all think. In my opinion, while it may be seeking something of real Christian worship, it fails because it's outside the apostolic tradition.)

25:00 a humble suggestion or question from a beginner who is still outside of a visible parish family. Is it that we 'transform the world' or that God transforms us? Then as the scales fall from our eyes, we see and participate in His world, kingdom and heaven on earth properly?

Jesus said to St Peter ,on this rock,'you will build My church.'
