The Division 2 Review (in progress) - Worthabuy? 

Apologies if my voice sounds a bit hoarse :) In part 2 I will be covering PvP, mid/end game (hopefully), loot crates and more on the enemy Ai. The game is very slow going which is why I thought I would release it in two parts as I know a lot of you may be considering purchasing the game in the next 24 hours and am sure you want to know some of the bad points of the game that most reviewers will just gloss over. Also worth mentioning is that Ubisoft did NOT give me a press key, I had to buy the Gold edition to gain early 3 day access to get you this early review.

Going to have to pin this comment as there are too many people convinced it's my PC or a settings issue, I knew as soon as it happened it was a game issue as it got worse the longer I played, kind of like a memory leak. It was the same in beta, well it was a bit worse in beta. Anyway here is proof that it's not my settings or my PC, Ubisoft have issued a statement confirming an error in the game that will cause huge frame drops forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/2010054-The-Division-2-Known-Issues-Updated-March-14th Hopefully they will get it fixed soon. Any experienced PC gamer should have been able to spot this was a game issue and not a PC issue, am surprised so many people on here seem clueless about PC gaming :p Yes I am being a smart arse about it and having a big old gloat at the people who were posting comments like "all his settings are retarded" "it's vsync lol" I was probably running memmaker to free up memory to get my games to run before these people were even born, I do know how to work a gaming PC, I have built plenty of them :p Anyway it's funny watching them embarrass themselves in the comments and even better to get the last laugh :)

Someone said in the settings menu you can change the cover speed(how fast he moves from cover) it's default is set to SLOW, and you can change it to fast which greatly improves the pace. Just a tip

15 hours is ALOT to start enjoying a game...

Turn volumetric fog to low or off thats the fps killer in the game, with that off on my v64/2700x combo I was in the 70s never lower then 50.

These are low level gear sets with 3 bonuses. High end gear will consist of 4 pieces with 4 bonuses and again with classified sets with 6 pieces and their bonuses.

Only just discovered Worth a Buy but I won't miss any of his reviews from now on. The only reviewer I've found that gives an honest personal opinion on games irrelevant of Studio hype & reputation, the way it should be!

whats the difference between the dev 1 and the dev 2 ? i'm not a diehard fan, but i can't keep the 2 games appart, they look exactly the same

I loved div1 because I bought it for like $10 Well after the release and when it had a solid amount of content. Played the div 2 beta and it was actually the first game I've bought since battlefield 3 as a pre order. I'm really happy with the money I spent on this game so far. It's feels they actually listened to us and the current climate and gaming and give it all they had. It at this stage may well end up being my game of the year

i'm about 10 hours in and am enjoying the game way more than I thought I would. The firefights are some of the best I've ever been in in a game. Last night did a mission that kept me on my feet, moving constantly from cover to cover as the AI kept trying to flank me. Had a total blast. You said the AI isn't good, and times seems like that but at others it's great. Most of my deaths result in getting out flanked by the baddies.

The thing I always liked best about Division, was this mode they brought in called "survival" (i think). You started FREEZING cold you had to keep warm, survive and make your way to the evacuation point in the dark zone. Loved that mode it was awesome. So I was disappointed not to see it in Division 2. I wonder if they bought it back since I quit.

I gotta say. Around level 20 I got kinda tired of it, but then I hit endgame a few hours later and now I FUCKING LOVE IT. AI gets better, it's like the 3 factions before endgame are on baby mode and then the final faction actually uses advanced tactics to WRECK you.

The “clunky” cover is user error. Double tap space, and you’ll roll away from cover instantly. As for performance, I’ve had no issues, but that could well be a patch. So far, I’m loving this game.

What do u think about the setting or different environments of interior buildings? People were saying they were unique and interesting. What is ur opinion?

The AI for me seems pretty good, considering some of the shit weve been getting these days. I love the cover gameplay. Once you get used to it and figure it out completely, for me anyways, it really starts to shine. I found the level design to be stellar. Good review as always.

When you are in cover and press the SPRINT button it should detach you from cover and move you in any direction you press at a sprint then. It's so annoying trying to get away from cover when you need to quickly.

Loving the game so far. In end game already and the game changes some, but it is very good. Feels like you are in a movie, the fights are epic.

Helllo! So you say you’re having issues with getting stuck on cover, so how it works is you move on the opposite of the direction of the cover depending on your camera angle, for example, if the cover is in front of you and you’re looking forwards then you would move back to get out of the cover, if you’re in the same cover but looking to your right you’d have to press right to unhook and same principles with left, if you’re looking backwards you would move forward to get out of cover. Or alternatively if in a panic just dodge roll :). I hope this helps.

The crouch should be like in ghost recon wildlands they do it brilliant

I think the cover mechanic works really well. One thing UBI have got good at is settings. You can adjust the gameplay to your style of gaming. Parkour works really well for me. PLUS, what Mack doesn't mention is that you can double tap to roll-out of a situation. You can hear when grenades are coming your way and you can get clear easily once you get used to the controls. It's a brilliant game and its really satisfying when you get into your flow.

I changed the cover button from "space" to "c", which is my usual crouch button and I found it to be easier, more fluid

I feel the opposite than you, I liked the road to lvl30 from the start until lvl30 and Im hating the endgame with black tusks. Their missions are generally speaking easier than the last few before 30 but takes forever because their missions are built to take a long time in a lame way. I suggest you to try couple of black tusks solo and let me know what you think about the endless drone spam you'll get it's 100% not fun. Right now I'm at wt3, 2 missions and 1 stronghold for wt4 (the highest atm) and I don't want play.

Glad it seems like you are having some fun with it all things aside. I was having issues with the game in the early access time period as I bought into getting to play early. Then those issues went away once the release day patch happened, but sense then I have been noticing those random frame drops in really intense situations, but that is only when playing at the current highest level. (Heroic Tidal Basin). Otherwise the one thing I wanted to point out for people that may have gotten confused by your explaination is: There are Brand Bonuses and Set Gear Bonuses. What you are talking about in the video is the former of those two. Set Gear are items that drop in a kind of teal color and are above the rarity of the yellow drops and DO require up to 6 pieces of the set to be equip to take full advantage of the bonuses. These will functionally change the way the game is played unlike with Brand bonuses. The brand bonuses come from equipping several pieces of gear that are made by the same company, and give you small bonuses that just make you a little stronger rather than totally changing your play style. For instance one of the sets grants special ammo to one of your other weapons when you get a kill. so you just cycle between your weapons refilling incendiary, shock, high velocity ammo, etc constantly... not just +5% critical chance.

Personally I am having a fantastic time in div2.. 1 tip for breaking cover to avoid nades is to double tap your cover button and roll out of cover consistantly breaks cover and moves u far enough from nades..

My main problem with the game -too many crashes. I've been in the middle of firefights and I just happened to crash. One of the things I love about this game though is the Civilian backup. I expected civvies to be shooting paintballs at the enemies. First mission you get, you go with an AI agent who uses abilities and the like, but it did no damage, so I just thought to myself "Oh, AI is gonna be useless on my side." I'm completely wrong. I've never been happier to see a band of 8 civilians come to my location when I pop a flare when I'm getting absolutely swamped by enemies. They actually cleared a CP for me once, and I didn't have a safehouse or another CP nearby to spawn on, and I waited about 2 minutes, and they literally cleared the point on their own. Guess the Division isn't needed, they can kick ass themselves.

Is it more effective or useful to stream and record separately? I mean, isn't there some ingenious system that allows you to easily edit/download streamed content? I would imagine the streaming services had already innovated that much. Notwithstanding you preferring different editing software.

Sorry to say me old mate but it's an issue with your pc , maybe a driver issue of sorts,or a program running in the background ? I have MSI after burner overlay on at all times monitoring the fps,frametime ,CPU/GPU usage etc and I havnt had a single performance issue that you describing neither has my squad either . I have an 1070 and 8600k playing @1080p high settings , I'm getting 100fps+ most of the time ,the lowest I've seen it dip was 88 fps, not getting any massive fps drops or frametime spikes. Don't get me wrong I'd be ignorant to say that some people are not experiencing performance issues but it's not wide spread at all , it's a highly optimised game just like D1 was. Maybe try using dx12 as it runs better on D2 this time around .

The main reason people started liking the old division was the Battle Royale mode! (atleast for me) And yes I know, everything has to be a battle royale, but it wasn't really a battle royale as much as it was just a survival game where you had an objective thats more complex than just be the last one alive, and their were cool additions like having to get better clothing, and if there was a mode like that with story integrated I would love the new division. Also the snow was part of the reason I liked the look of the first Division, now it just looks like any other apocalyptic game (insert days gone, last of us even though I love last of us, dayz, ect.). and now there is no snow.

Glad for the multi player crowd this game looks to not be the complete mess D1 was for it's first year for me as a PVE story single player gamer primarily, I will be waiting to pick this up on sale this Thanksgiving or Christmas. Happy Gaming all.

Switch to DX11 to avoid those random FPS drops/stutter. DX12 has issues with this game and will cause those drops or even crash your game randomly. If you switch to DX11, you will never have those stutters and no more crashes.

Had a blast playing; game keeps getting better and better as I progress through. The surprise encounters are fantastic! I ran into two card carrying bosses last night and they were brutal! I now have the Ace of Spades and 7 of Hearts! Had the pleasure of playing with Mack, Bell and Spice Weasel; it was great!

Mack the game is designed to keep you looting and shooting until max level. Then the real game starts with the Tusks, DZ, and events. Most of the issues can be adjusted in settings or be patched. Come back when you reach end game and let us know your thoughts. Hopefully while having fun in the process.

Anyone else experiencing crashes to desktop with no error message? It's very annoying and has happened plenty of times in the middle of a mission which I had to restart like 3 times.

I've been playing since the 12th was fine but as of now my game is bugged out on me my guy can't run or even move getting strange shit like not being able to use my gizmos n gadgets then my castle settlement has bugged out as well so I can't get my end game now apparently this stops you from doing the strong hold for that district

its almost like they knew! we got biggy smalls rapping about the world trade center, we got a movie called Contagion from 2011, then theres the The Division 2 from 2019 which the plot is all about the whole planet suffering from a deadly virus must of been in development for 5+ years before 2019 then 2020 hits us like a freight train and still no freedom in 2021.

You know what they should do to improve the boring levelling early game? Make the story and the lore and the environment really really compelling. Was wow combat really that exciting in the first 20/30 levels, not really but they had such rich and diverse story telling. the world lived and breathed it was just great to be just existing in the environments as there was just so much to see too stimulate your senses. The div 1 had the same issue as this one. its more a stat sorter game rather than an immersive role playing world. It made the necessary grind quest even more grind like. They need to bring the characters into the forefront and let people see other players in the world whilst your questing, everything is instanced and it feels like your just all alone in a repetitive world.

Framedrops have been associated with Logitech software. For me it was my headset making the game run at 10 FPS now and then. You can either disconnect the headset or kill the software in the task manager.

Glad you're liking it Mac, I for one am having a blast. 20 hours in and not regretting the purchase at all.

Hey Mack, could you revisit Battlefront 2 EA? They've added many updates to the game since launch making the gameplay fun for everyone and it has become one of my favorite games. They are still updating it and I just want to see the game get the support it deserves.

My main issue is the cover mechanics...I wish they just let us use C to crouch when we wanted...

The technical problems in games recently (over like the past 3 weeks maybe) are often related to either Windows releasing a bad update, or Nvidia releasing bad drivers (or maybe it was just messed up by the Win update). Even the Playstation stream service PSNow got completely wrecked by this Windows bs. So it can be pretty unclear whether Division has bad optimization or whatever, or if it's just more Microsoft trolling their customers.

I dont get why alot of people say bullet sponge enemies are boring. I find it boring when the NPC dies too easily. I really liked the original The division for bullet sponge because they were tough as hell and you gonna have to have a solid team to overcome them. And when you do have a good team and finish the legendary runs, it felt good.

Dunno what you ppl are on about ... This game is truly epic...content for days, great graphics and awesome gameplay. Use adaptive vsync or Frame limiter v2 on nvidia inspector and all is smooth. Very smooth in fact, especially when you think how good the game looks. Love this channel but this review is not fair at all.

Have to disagree with some of your comments I am running 1080 sc2 and i7 on 4k never had any crashes had coulp of frame drops but only on busy areas it's a game you have to not rush as it's strategy game explore everything get better gear by not rushing to level up in areas and you will find enemy won't be spongy from the start areas in game take my breath away the game is huge the main mission areas like the Vietnam museum is just magical they have thought of everything but yea it needs proper optimisation as its running the stable patch from dv1
