This is such a helpful video, if anyone watching this isn’t a Patreon member, I highly recommend it. I didn’t think it was possible to have instruction via the internet with Tatiana but she has helped me so much relearn to play the flute.
Thank you! I’ve never really known how to tongue. My band teacher mentioned it a few days ago and I’ve never known. It’s been so hard for me to try just with the advice my , but this really helped me! Thanks!
omggg I've been playing for 1 year and my tonguing has always been so airy and rough, but when I started to think of it as "n" instead of "t" or "d" it helped clear it up so much. thank youuuu
Hi I’ve just started playing the flute in my 6th grade band class and I’ve been practicing a bit at home, and this helped me be aware of the do’s and dont’s so that I can be aware when I get better as a flute player. Thank you! Also any tips on cleaning? ✨ subscribed ✨
Maybe I am not understanding, but I think my problem with tonguing is that, I cant do it fast enough, I cant do an instant tongue flick to keep the tonguing from preventing a sound and making it airy, because it feels like the immediate moment I try to tongue, the sound is gone and becomes super airy. I'll watch this again when I practice this tomorrow, and hopefully I can figure it out.
I’m beginning to play the flute again after a decades long separation and happened across your tonguing video. Every word you spoke made perfect sense to me and you’ve utterly changed my practice! Many many thanks! -Lee
Thank you so much! First I can't figure out tonguing so I kept using plain air, then my teacher told me to tongue but I didn't know how until I found this and it really helped! Again TYSM :D
Thanks, Tatiana! I love your videos and you make me laugh with your jokes. This is off subject, but I have a hard time counting while playing. Do you have a video or any suggestions on how to improve that?
Hi, I have been playing flute for 4 years andI have got to grade 7 using french tonging. When playing some long tonging passages in some Bach the notes became weaker and weaker. It wasn’t working. Can you give me some tips on what in my position I should do?
You know, I've tried this but I still end up throating or throating and tonguing at the same time to keep there from being this puffy splat noise when I tongue. At this point, I've given up and I throat the sounds. I'll never play that fast. I simply cannot figure out how to keep tah-tah-tah from sounding like tFFFFah-tFFFFah-tFFFFah no matter where or how hard or when I tongue.
CloudyHead such a slow reply!!!! Sorry 😬 does it work for you or does it cause problems? If it causes problems then perhaps practice away from the flute just feeling the tongue and where it naturally forms the tu. Slow and often quite de-contructed practice is often necessary!
I'm sorry! I will check it out and check out my software. I have made some changes in the editing software I am using so I will put up the volume in future!
