67 year old retired medic here. I’m betting your working out is gonna work to your benefit. Doctors salivate when they have a patient in as good of shape as you. Makes em look good when you have a great outcome! The hard part for you will be letting others take care of you and your animals during your recovery. Just chill brother and be thankful! I pray for her quick recovery. I have just been put on hospice and ask for prayer for my passing to be quick and painless to make it easier on my children as they are my best friends. ❤

My husband had his mitral valve replaced with a mechanical valve when he was 69. It was a 6 week recovery period but it was a gradual process. The first day he walked a quarter down the driveway and back. Next day half way etc. By the end of four weeks, he could walk the entire two mile trail without any problems and was back to work in six weeks. It wasn't an easy road, but the good Lord gave us 19 more years. The entire Doss family has always been in my prayers, but I will now add an extra prayer for Ralph.

Grandpa Doss, I will keep you in my Prayers On June 12th I had a Major Heart Attack. Both of us have the same systems!! I am now on med's for the rest of my life. I was home alone doing chores when I started not feeling too good. Long story short I called 911 & took them forever (20 min) to get to me!!! I got to ER & they took me to surgery & put in a stint. One Artery was 70% blocked & the other one is 40% blocked . I know how you feel, yours is a lil more advanced than mine. In the mean time my husband was to have surgery on the 14th, miles many miles from where I was at in another hospital. I am Praying for both of us & Praying God is putting his healing hands on us BOTH!!!! Very happy Grandma Doss is doing so much better. We both need our soulmates & God to help carry us thru & keep us strong together. We all love you & Pray that your surgery will go smooth & easy with the hands of God guiding the surgeon. We all know the boys will step in to help to help you & do whatever it takes to help run the farm as you recover. Matt will more likely be there night & day for you!!! As a nurse, I am so pleased you had annual check up, it’s so important as changes picked up early can be treated before major damage has happened. The recovery is long but in the grand scheme of things, 6 weeks out of the rest of your life is a small inconvenience. My favorite saying is “Growing old isn’t for sissy’s” Sending aroha your way. Thank the Lord you got tested, kind of the blessing like Leanns kidney stones! Praying for you Ralph, and you will be held tight in Gods hands! My Aunt, years ago was the 1st to get a pig valve replaced! Later she had it replaced with a stainless steel & we would dit on her lap & hear it click! I almost lost my daughter During Covid as she had Pneumonia and the symptoms were like COVID symptoms. she ended up with water surrounding her hart causing hart failure. But she is still her now and all clear runner Cedarwood acres farm. I will be praying and thinking of the whole family

Happy Father’s Day! We all know you have been a great dad by witnessing how you and the boys love each other. Grandpa, if you don’t do the piggy polka, you’d be face-planting on a regular basis. We may be entertained by that, but it wouldn’t be much fun for you.

Praying for Grandpa doss and for the Lord to guide his medical team and he'd receive the best treatment needed to bring healing to his heart! My husband had that surgery about 5 years ago and going into it they weren't sure if they could do a repair surgery but the surgery went very well and they were successful in doing it! His cardiologist told him the repair surgery would be the best to have because if they were successful it would mean he wouldn't need anymore surgery in the future. His repair surgery was an open heart surgery. He had one of the top heart surgeons at Dartmouth hospital in NH. Praying for your entire family as well!!! ❤

TEE results should be immediately. My husband had to have that done before his heart ablation. Praying for a successful surgery and full recovery.

Ralph my husband had open heart surgery to fix his valves 2 years ago and feel good you just have to listen to doctors and walk after! Husband is walking and riding bike now ! My husband had his done at U of M in Michigan by the world renowned Dr Bowling!! He actually developed many of the things that they use in that type of surgery! Good luck and many prayers🙏

Not sure if the world is ready for both firing on all cylinders but I'm here for it and we all know most importantly God is too.

I just had my dr recommend a bunch of heart test because It's been about 7 yrs since I had test done. I haven't had any symptoms or anything but I'm experiencing body aches and pains. Praying all goes well with both of you. Thank God he speaks to our drs in our behalf. I'm 71 years old. He's a great Father.

Ralph I'm 63 I was diagnosed with Marfan's in 2003, mitral valve valve prolapse, hyperthyroidism, and abnormally of the aortic arch, along with Afib, had a pacemaker in 2013, I've just not to the point where surgery is needed. I see my cardio tomorrow as it's time, I do get sob, fatigue & now breaking in sweat even with just a bit of cleaning. I've been a widow of 10yrs and I'm terrified. I understand where you're at and scared to death even though you dont let on. I stand on my faith that's the only I get thru this, I have no friends or family here where I live,they all abandoned after I became a widow or moved away. Many hugs, 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤ to you and Leanne, if God brings you too it HE will bring you thru it. You are my extended family.

My Mom had this surgery nearly 30 years ago but hers is mechanical. She had rheumatic fever as a child. It's quite scary, but you are strong. I'm praying for both of you.

It's amazing, with a bum heart, that Grandpa Ralph Doss has all the energy he does! Usually, heart patients are quite fatigued. GOD has been very gracious! Praying for safety during the operation and a quick recovery. I can assume, due his healthy lifestyle and care of his farm family, that he's probably in a much better place than most patients with similar issues. Take care Brother Ralph.

I’m glad you contacted the General Practitioner, being missed isn’t great but glad you chased it up, I often double check Doctor’s about test results. Praying and thinking of you Ralph 🙏 I was lucky a few months ago they discovered accidentally I had two blockages 90% and 80% I was in and out of hospital quickly, now recovered I’m so thankful❤🙏

However, the medical field has advanced so far, it amazes me, how well these surgeries go, on a regular basis. You have taken care of yourself all these years, Ralph, you are in great shape. I was told by a cardiologist about 10 years ago that I have an irregular regular heart beat, but it is nothing to worry about.. That has never really made sense to me, but I guess he knows what he's talking about. Love and prayers for you Ralph, and for LeAnn and the kids for strength to get through this ( without wringing your neck 😂😂). It will all work out just like the good Lord has planned. All the stressing over handing over the reins for a while, isn't going to change anything at all, I know that you know this, and it isn't making it any easier to do, I'm the same way. Hi grandpa Ralph Doss, I went through what you are going through now , had a TEE which is a trans-esophageal echo which is a camera that goes down through your esophagus to your heart and there is a camera on it and they'll be able to see your mitral valve , hopefully they give you a pig valve and not a mechanical one like I had gotten 24 years ago . You are in my thoughts and prayers for you and your wife .🙏🙏🙏🙏
