She manage to elaborate well in issue of xenophobia, as long as most poor African come in large number to South Africa and compete with other poor South Africa for few resources, the problem will remain, few months I read article of student from Malawi who is studying in one of South Africa university( Rhode university), he say there are high schools students who drop out from high schools with aim to come to South Africa, South Africa with around 50% of youth who are unemployed, can't accommodate large number of people who are poor , right now is estimated that over 3 Millions Zimbabwean live in South Africa and mostly it will be poor people who will be in competition with south African for jobs, RDP house...etc... Xenophobia in sa is the results of lack of development in Africa, the problem is beyond South Africa

Well said brother. If we're going to address this issue, we're going to have to tackle it from the roots. And the root of this whole issue, is why do people keep flooding this countries in such large numbers. The answers are what you've described. Thanks for that

The problem is who owns the capital and how come they are unemployed. What does it take to train and to get them hired. Are resources being distributed properly.

I'm a native born South African who has grown up in the US for over 50 years. In the 1990's as Mandela was coming out of prison I was at Prairie View A&M university in PV, Texas, we (African students) would discuss the future of South Africa at that time and what it would look like once free. One of the points I mentioned was since at the time other African countries' passports were NOT allowed into SA in the old SA, that in the New SA if all countries are allowed, then ALL OF AFRICA would swarm into the country and overwhelm the system which would be still toddling under Black government getting it's legs. This would cripple the society and create a backlash from the local people, ESPECIALLY with certain groups. Certain groups being Nigerian, who would come in aggressively, arrogantly and boastfully, with a take over attitude. These discussions in Texas were WITH Nigerian students who at the time were ALREADY arrogantly saying that South African were STUPID for living under white people for all that time. So I saw this was going to be a recipe for disaster before baking the cake was even started. Fast forward many years, once the first so called "xenophobic" attack happened. I already knew what was behind it. The inevitable clash erupted that had been brewing since SA opened it's borders.

Appreciate your guest and honestly, SA has a potential to develop even at a faster pace and have a positive ripple effect to other African countries and see the end of xenophobic tendencies that to show up once in a while.

South Africa doesn't need a revolution. It needs an evolution and awakening so we can find our place in the world. Where we can learn from our fellow Africans and the diaspora. Thank you this is one of those steps.

We take that for granted, imagine living in the US were black's are minority as opposed to us here as majority. You come to Johannesburg then you realise black people are also humans and capable.

She made me cry when she said "Its not xenophobia, its something that we see everywhere even in the US" this means a lot to me as South African because more often we are made to apologize for being South African by our fellow Africans and no one wants to understand why poor black South Africans turn on other Africans when the system fails them. A country that is hosting 10 Million + African migrants cannot be xenophobic, Stop talking ill of my country because your shit hole President is failing you and your countrymen.

I so 'hear' Dr Carlis when she says SA attracts her because of all the people around you 'that are like you' - The Blackness! AND as she points out, this represenativity of your Blackness is at 'every level of society'. The idea of a country and towns and malls and shops where very few people look like you throws one out of sync... When the street, shops, TV, radio and every other place has Black people your identity is RE-PRE-SE-NTED as SAfrcns say - represented and affirmed as Children or PEOPLE OF THE SOIL. One's identity is very central to a person, one can only 'visit' places where you are dots and dots versus the entire population being 'like you' and 'the others' are in the minority. Add the fact of the language to the identity affirmation and that tops it all!! Dr Carlis CROWNS IT ALL when she says 'the real S Africa show us (ALL) IN OUR DIVINE LIGHT'... YES! YES! HES!
