I consider myself a stoic and in very difficult situations I have been the only person able to maintain composure. I have no problem watching gory horror movies or even real life videos that most people couldn't stomach. In general, because of my job, I can endure very disturbing imagery, with only two exceptions: child abuse and animal cruelty, particularly the one aimed at dogs, and even more specifically when the victim is a so-called "pit bull" dog, given that I have 4. I so much want to support the author, but I don't think I want to endure those first chapters. I remember reading about the vick case, and I wish I hadn't. Even today, almost 15 years later I feel sick to my stomach.
