Candy Matson was an NBC West Coast radio show that ran from June 29, 1949, to May 20, 1951. Candy Matson, a female private investigator with a dry sense of humor and a penthouse on Telegraph Hill in San Francisco, was at the core of the story. Candy's best buddy Rembrandt Watson, portrayed by Jack Thomas, was a hidden gay character in the show, as well as a striking female character "without a touch of squeamishness". Candy's love interest was Henry Leff's police detective Ray Mallard. Dudley Manlove was the announcer. Helen Kleeb, John Grober, Mary Milford, and Hal Burdick were all commonly heard in lesser roles. The show was not only set in San Francisco, but it was also produced at San Francisco Radio City.
