This has to be one of my all time favorite Lovecraft stories, just because of the great descriptive detail he gave to Sarnath. Lovecraft was a master of horror, sure, but he was also a master of detail. ^^
I actually didn't like the extreme length of detail he put into Sarnath. It felt like he was rambling because ultimately the majority of the detail he included wasn't included in the story. It was enough to describe the city as full of avarice, gluttony and egotistical pride and hate.
Beautiful story. The reader here does Lovecraft great justice. I would not trust my internal dialog to bring these stories to life. Thank you so much for these!
His knowledge was extraordinary. It's hard to imagine how many books he must have read to write these amazing accounts of madness. It's no wonder many consider him an unconcious prophet, as his details of the "recently" discovered megalithic sites, and the connections he makes with ancient Entities, is still unparalleled, and to the student of the ancient Mistery schools is absolutely priceless. Thank you so much for all these audio uploads, as as much I love reading, playing them while I lay in bed at night is quite wonderful and relaxing.
Nick Sothep his parents went mad, he had bad luck in his life and as a racist, he feared the unknown. Also I wouldn't be surprised if he experimented with halucinating drugs. That would explain his unique style of horror writing.
@@kingcobrajfssepaboosterclub, I'm not convinced that Lovecraftian Cosmic Horror contains any intended "morals". Nay, it would seem sanity and survival are the only virtues within this grim and perilous mythos.
I have heard this tale like n times and still... calling this a fantasy or horror would be an injustice, it crawls into your mind and nestles there like a being from the lake.
man i love this channel so much the way he reads Lovecrafts books is so perfect i love all of Lovecrafts books man such a great writer with such a great imagination :D
YOOO I just looking into that and thought immediately of this book like woohoo more Lovecraftian themed creatures in DC makes me so happy, I hope the movie is good!
H.P.'s Sarnath = Modern day Washington, DC. Many empty-suits work and reside there too with flabby lips and pointy ears. Gotta love a writer who goes into such descriptive details.
yeah that would be awsome. i think they would honestly respect eatchother and teach a few things to one another like not to be so racist with horror. and not to be so dark all the time. h.p lovecrafts dream scape stories are truly epic as fuck fantasy books.
Maybe it was the ghost of Lovecraft himself. He was known for being hypercritical of his own work. He is a great example of that idea of one being their own worst critic.
