This concert is totally amazing!!!! I would say that this was their top of the carreer. Of course they maintained their greatness for a couple of years, but this is one of their best concert I've seen!!

IMHO it's the best live performance of The Doors captured on film--everything that made them so unique and powerful was on full display in the Roundhouse shows!!

The European shows were the end of an era. The final performances of Jim as "The Lizard King". Soon he would transform into "An Old Blues Man".

Spot on!! In 1969 the metamorphosis began--accelerated by the fallout from the fateful Miami show. I really liked the blues-oriented Doors as well but if I had the opportunity to have seen them live the "trippy, goth-like, mind expanding" version of The Doors (in a venue like The Roundhouse) is how I would have wanted to see them.

Its even more amazing to know that back then the doors werent looked at as they are looked at as now. Their audience didnt know what to feel about their performances nor their music to the certain extent that its looked at and acknowledged as now. They were so brave to be them and do what they were doing only to become the most eternal legendary music group of all damn time. Their music is the music of the cosmos. Music that the universe, god itself makes. Just sounds that are divine. The doors are a blessing. Who wouldve known 4 individuals would come together in the 1960s to be so likeminded in such weird rythms and melodies that actually work. 1/10000000. I dont think the doors are appreciated like they should be. So underrated. I love you guys FOREVER. Thank you for EVERYTHING. For my damn life. Long live the doors!

The 1968 Roundhouse shows are how I would like to have seen The Doors live if I could somehow transport back in time. That show captured the band in all their glory. There really was no one quite like them---no other group took you on such a mind-expanding, trippy, seance-like journey. When Morrison was on his game he really had that "shaman" vibe and the band played off of that perfectly!! The Roundhouse shows capture The Doors in their ideal element--a magnificent performance!!

We talk about the environment today as if it's a new revelation. But us Hippie's (for want of a better word) were talking and recording music on the subject 50+years ago. But we were scorned with laughter, if only we were listened to then.

I think it was in the part 1 to this montage of The Doors, but it is asked rhetorically 'we know what they are against, but not what they're for". missing completely the point that in avoiding direct comment, they were making profound comment on the state of the then world, and where it was heading.

Wonder why this was filmed in such shitty quality. The capability to produce films in high quality sound and color was possible already in the late 60's and this could have easily made in good quality though it was expensive to achieve; but this one would have been worth the cost. Woodstock was a fiasco logistically but a very high quality film was able to be made of it.

Because it was shot as a British TV documentary by Granada Television, who were only set up to use contemporary ENG kit. It wasn't intended for theatrical release - only for broadcast on the pre-1973 405 line PAL TV signal.

Geezus appreciate this rare jewel for what it is! Re your woodstock film - it had a budget of $600,000, whilst this would have been shot for less than £500 by a Granada news crew with one Arriflex film camera and a Nagra tape recorder.....
