That was the last song recorded by the Doors. After that, Jim fled to Paris to lick his wounds, reinvent his life or some other such thing. We will never know because he met with his end there. He had become our Shaman, our leader that was going to show us how to survive life. But he learned too fast and burned out before he could enlighten any of us. In the 53 years since, I learned to forge my own way, to fight the fights I could win and compromise the fights I could not. I finally realized he had left us the answer, this song. We were all Riders on the Storm. "Into the world we're thrown." It is up to us to shape our own path. Don't wait for anyone to show you. Your life is in your own hands, make something out of it. I did.
Very true! Love everything you said! He was before my time, but my dad raised my sister & I on The Doors, Zeppelin, Stones, Rush, CCR, & many more classics... Jim Morrison & The Doors was always my favorite! Still are to this day. I listen to these guys almost daily. When I need a reality check & my spirits lifted, this is my go to music. He died way too young. I feel like he was cheated, & had way more to offer to this world. Same w/ Janis Joplin.... I love Jim, always have always will.
Quelle silhouette....quelle belle démarche..ahhhh si beau, et quel talent! une voix superbe! today 7th May is a sad day for me..my loving mother died of cancer, she was only 36, I dedicate this song for her
Jim was an outstanding personality. He was intelligent, educated, incredibly well-read. He had a great voice. He was the Lizard King. He never left us. I love his poems and his incredible wordiness. Jim has found his peace. Take good care of yourself out there, my friend !
I'm pushing 70 in a couple of months and my first exposure to 'HIS' music was as a pre-teen. I LOVED HIS MUSIC THEN and love his music today. What a master of music!!! It was a very sad day when he passed away. What a true loss to the musical world!!!! I still miss him and what music he could have created!!!
Just listening to the Intro brings tears to my eyes... And Im a 74 year dude, but this brings floods of memories to my mind... The music of these days will never, cannot be, repeated as its as if the Stars were all in alignment..
Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Into this house, we're born Into this world, we're thrown Like a dog without a bone An actor out on loan Riders on the storm There's a killer on the road His brain is squirmin' like a toad Take a long holiday Let your children play If you give this man a ride Sweet family will die Killer on the road, yeah Girl, you gotta love your man Girl, you gotta love your man Take him by the hand Make him understand The world on you depends Our life will never end Gotta love your man, yeah Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Into this house, we're born Into this world, we're thrown Like a dog without a bone An actor out on loan Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm Riders on the storm
I was born in 1959 and I have three older sisters that listen to the radio all the time, so I remember when all this stuff came out, so yeah I was there when this music was playing on the radio, that makes me so happy!! Now at the age of 64 I'm still listening to it, and I'm fortunate to have all my sisters yet! Rest in peace Jim Morrison, you were a big part of my life even if I didn't quite understand it at the time! The holy s*** I get it now
Indeed! The 60s were incredible!! Jim Morrison was one of the best entertainers & vocalists of all-time. To think he had only been performing for 4 years at this point at 25 years of age. I did 4-way window pane with Jim & Ray in 1968 & Jim was incredibly lucid for doing the full 4-way pane. I did 1/4 & i was seeing trails and the walls were melting & the floor turned into a river. I was treading water as Jim bought me a shot of bourbon & a miller beer to chase it down..
" a fantastic atmospheric, spiritual journey " Jim's words are about a serial killer hitch hiking the highways of America slaughtering families. The music was adapted from Ghostriders in the Sky written in 1948 by Stan Jones while he was working as a National Park Ranger and Tour Guide.
I remember first hearing this song in a pub in 1977 aged 17 , I had no idea who the Doors were so I went back to work and asked and was informed about the legendary Doors and Jim Morrison
What an atmospheric, calming Groovy song with very deep lyrics. The Doors had the “it” factor in spades, awesome musicians. So love all of their music…Jim Morrison was a soothsayer 🎵🌹🎵

Jim Morrison and The Doors are so talented. This song reminds me of those who stick with you during extremely difficult times aka "a storm", so to speak. They are "Riders on the Storm" or those who survive the storm. -Jen Gable (Justeson)
This was the song on 'Need for Speed, Underground' that played on repeat as a kid on our xbox... my baby bro and I related to this so much... into this house we are born, into this world we are thrown.... something about it... it will always have a super special place in my heart... he's the only one who understood our collective childhood... he's been passed on and free now for 2 .5 years and this songs brings the nostalgia I adore and lament 🖤🖤
@@user-wh7ub9mz1h не рок, а навязанный образ жизни рокера (секс, наркотики, рокнролл), такое же падение нравов было и в попсе 90-х, это не от музыки зависит...
@@stevehayne3571 Jim took the words from an old screen play he had written about a serial killer hitch hiking the highways of America slaughtering families. I would say dark!
@@lantingliu7886 I found the Doors to be a bit weak , probably because they lacked a bass player . The material was a bit thin too . On this song however , all four played out of their skins . Even the session bassist came up with a killer bassline . Pure magic
I believe songs are magic. True artists like the Doors wizards! Ever been truly spellbound by an amazing song such as this one? That’s true magic my friends! Every time I hear this song I can remember the room I was in the first time right down to the way it smelled…over 30 years ago!
I loved this song when it first released and I was a young lad finishing up his senior year and looking forward to graduate school. Still have all the words memorized to this day, but had not listened to it for probably 20 years. Listening to it today, I realize: Jim really was a wise man. Such a shame that he had to move on from our world so early.
My mom loved the Lord with all her heart and died early at 51. As a small child I would see her in the kitchen doing dishes and she would be singing this old song. My how I miss her tonight. Hug your living loved ones and tell them how much you love them because when the Lord takes them home it will change you forever. I am 65 now but I still remember her singing this like it was yesterday. May this song bring you hope and comfort!
I was a young kid working at remote fire camp when this song came out. I was the lone radio operator left at the station ,everyone else was out on fire crew. I listened to this song on radio endlessly ! Weird, cool summer!
Jim was long gone before I heard the first Doors song. Obviously not part of my generation but the Doors are on the Mount Rushmore of my favorite bands

Rock music has proudly possessed great vocalists but none can be compared to Mr mojo rising as his voice was coming from the great beyond, not to mention such clarity and enunciation..Respect for the man and singer.
I remember this song like it was yesterday. It gives me goosebumps at certain points in the song and at other points, it's just simply mesmerising. It can't be overstated how great Jim Morrison's vocals were. He died way too young. Truly one of the greatest groups of the sixties. Yeah, the song also reminds me of a certain girl i was in love with at the time.
