What I love is how the voice and players of so many of these bands in the past blow away any of the advanced technology and fireworks to hype the sound of today’s players and singers. You hear his voice and it jumps out at you. This song kicks ass!
This is one of their most fun tracks. They have some great ones. They also get real weird. Totally avante garde. They are a 60s band. Morrison died in 71. "The End" is amazing but very very different. If you do it be prepared for some 60s weirdnes. Some other hits of theirs are "Break on Through", "Love me two times", "Touch me", "Light my Fire" and "LA Woman", just to name a few. Big songs.
That is a great way to put it 60s weirdness. if people don't understand that Jim Morrison the lead singer wrote The poetry and then the band had to fit / write the music to it.... it helps to also understand the psychedelic era and that a lot of people did a lot of acid back then so sometimes it really made sense in a trippy kind of way...
All Rock and Roll is based on the Blues dude. The Blues chords and structure IS the back bone of Rock and Roll. The more you listen to Rock music the more you will notice there are blues influences in damn near every single song. The Blues is everything dude.....EVERYTHING!! Great reaction I just love watching you get introduced to this kind of stuff. You are musically knowledgable and can comprehend and understand what you are hearing. Good Stuff!!
I think there is a bit of country influence, too. Chuck Berry sounds less blues than this song by The Doors. Berry and the rockabilly genre are closer than Berry is to this IMO
This is generally true but the Doors used Bassa Nova, noise making with new tech, Flamenco (Spanish Caravan is like The Lyenda) just all over the place. In the end everything including The Blues is based on Dorian Classical theory which is why it all fits together.
Brother you ave stepped deep into the world know as Jim Morrison you want blues and rock your in for it . Jim was a film major and aspiring Poet You have landed on my # 1 all-time Favorite Band. Wait till you hear this Artistry in this band. Try Texas Radio and the Big Beat and When the Musics Over.
Been waiting for this one. This is my go to song to get pumped up in them morning. For the other end of the spectrum check out "The End" and "Riders on the Storm".
giggles...That ist "lick barbecue off your fingers Blues right there". :-) I can much agree. I often wished Blues music had progressed as Rock music has, but it would no longer be Blues then. It has it's place in history, quite legendary, und never forgotten. :-) Your reaction was finger-licking as usual...giggles Auf Wiedersehen aus Wiesbaden :-)
I love when you react to just the music. The way we heard it back in the day. It was more about the music than any video. No distractions. Sometimes songs are worthy of the live versions. You're making great choices!!
Rock is based on the blues. It is double 4 time with attitude. To my mind blues is double 4 time with feeling or even heart break. Only really the progressive rock genre deviated from that to any real extent. the best of that genre is the Pink Floyd who messed around with the timing signatures of their music even doing one of their most beautiful and best known pieces in 3 - 4 time ie waltz time. Shine on you crazy diamond. About CidBarrett.
Ahh!! The Doors!!! 1975 ,18years old!! Friday night! A couple of lines of Amphetamine Sulphate and your whole life ahead of you!!!! What could possibly go wrong?Well in my experience absolutely nothing!!!! Cause I'm still here people!!! And I'm a loving Grandad!!! Yeah I should know better I'm never gonna grow up now!!!
If only I could give you an extra thumbs up for your "🎵 SAVE OUR CITY!!! 🎵" 👏👏👏 Man, I'm tellin' ya straight out... you're in for a trip! You don't just listen to The Doors; you EXPERIENCE them. You liked this? Keep on digging. They have a LOT of GOOD SCHITT! All different, but all uniquely "Doors." The most requested Doors reactions aren't always the best, but most are. The Doors are hard blues, they're psychedelic, and everything in between. Laid back blues, a few ballads, jazz...yeah, even a little pop... They're all over the place, musically, but you still always know it's the The Doors, and almost all of it will trip you out. They're, by far, my favorite band. I've never seen a Doors fan, including myself, be able to express the effect of their music in down-to-earth terms, so keep digging in to The Doors. You're in for a trip. A great trip, but with a peculiar darkness to it. You'll get what us Doors freaks have been screaming about, all these years! You'll dig the schitt out of it! Break on Through
You gotta check out "Not to Touch the Earth". One of their strangest, most amazing songs and one that'll get stuck in your head. Incredible imagery in that one!
Director Oliver Stone made a movie about the band in 1991 called The Doors. Val Kilmer played Jim Morrison. Morrison died when he was 27 just like Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Curt Cobain and other musicians who died when they were 27.
I play percussion for the house band at a local bar. Along with Whipping Post by The Allman Bros, Roadhouse Blues is one of the most fun songs to play for a live audience. Roadhouse gets the party started and Whipping Post is an amazing closer.
One thing you'll notice about the Doors is that they did not have a bass player. Ray held down the bass on his organ. (The only recording where they had a bass was on their last album, "L.A. Woman".) The lack of a bass was what gave them their unique, dreamy, slightly unreal sound, unlike any other band of the time.
Awesome reaction! They were an awesome band. The next two songs I would check out from them would be, "The Changeling" and "Riders on the Storm" from their "LA Woman" album.
I'd suggest that you do THE END, but perhaps it's too soon in your Doors experience.... don't want to see your mind caved in just yet, LOL! Better stick with a warm up or two before THE END or WHEN THE MUSIC'S OVER, among others. Try L.A.WOMAN or LIGHT MY FIRE first 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Watch some live videos to see Jim do his thing. He was a poet. Got too weird on some things for me, but phenomenal on much, and consider that this was the 60s, lots of experimenting in music and art. He was also just an incredible singer.
Mr mojo Risin! -I have listened to Jim and The doors since my early teen years. He is the reason I wanted long hair in the first place! :D And yeah. Rock is rooted in blues. If you love one you will digg the other!
I had a road trip at sixteen. I brought a bunch of tapes that my uncle loaned me. I had heard all the groups (Led, Sabbath, Floyd, Eagles); then I listened to the doors for the first time. Needless to say the others are great but they only got one listen. Me and Mr. Mojo Risin' took a road trip.😎
"Break the Guitar Rock" That one busted me up. :) The bands from the late 60's through the 70's were heavily influenced by the blues, man. It's the blues, uptempo, amplified, and distorted. If you haven't checked it out yet, check out the AC/DC song "Let There Be Rock". They'll tell ya all about it.
Riders On The Storm is the best song by The Doors in my opinion, I'm sure you will like it It takes you to strange places, it's kind of scary and soothing at the same time somehow, and it's the last song Jim Morrison recorded before he passed away, so it's special too
Damn! I didn't know you had it like that! Lol. I suggested Janis to you, but I didn't know you'd dig some Jim. So what I call the Holy Triumvirate: Janis (Joplin), Jimi (Hendrix) and Jim (Morrison). All worth listening to for the rest of your life! 🎶😎
@@ThatSingerReactions All right! And if you haven't heard Jimi, he's really good. And he was a fellow Washingtonian (Seattle). My mom's told me stories about hanging with his cousin. But she never got to meet Jimi.🎸🎶🤗
a couple more of their tunes i didn't see mentioned..."Five To One" and "W.A.S.P. (Texas Radio and the Big Beat)"...are great tunes and more than worth the listen
Can you imagine how different Woodstock could have been with Jim and Ozzy doin' their thing? Thank God clearer heads prevailed. And then there was Altamont........
At some point, if you haven’t done anything by Triumph(3 guys from Canada like Rush) I think you’ll like them too. Vocalist in the ionosphere high, one of my favs- Lay it on the line. Enjoy😎🎶
I woke up this morning and got my self a beer.. the futures uncertain and the end is always near .. check out backdoor man 'back door man' that one is a classic
They did one song, Crawling King Snake... well if you haven't heard it, check it out. Not your average rock song from the Doors... at all. One of their best, imho.
When I was young, say 17-25, didn't really like this song. As I am older, much older and staring at death, I've grown to really like this song. It probably helps that as I've aged I appreciate soul, blues and Jazz so much more. In fact Jazz is epitome of mathematical complexity just like classical music. Love Jazz.
Do first track on the first album, 'Break on Through'. Then 'Light My Fire' is a must. 'When the Musics Over' is my favorite song by The Doors. 'The End' is a great song but try some others first. Then you'll understand.
Great variation of a 12 bar blues song..... one of my favorite doors songs..... just seems everyone is reacting to the remastered version. I think the added vocals and 2nd harmonica muddle the song a bit. Try: peace frog The wasp 5 to 1
You know Jim Morrison's name from the 28 club. Along with Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Curt Cobain just to name a few 'gone to soons'. You would like Love Her Madly and LA Woman also by The Doors.
