i wonder what the Doors members think of this? I'm sure they've heard it. I love it. The first time I heard it was on a long drive along rte. 80 in nebraska. It was night. There was a fire on an adjacent field. the synchronicity was perfect.
I remember listening to The Richest Man in Babylon for the first time while driving through the Rocky mountains into Banff. I'll never forget that drive.
Robbie Krieger knows this remix and likes it. He commented on it once upon a time when a youtuber made a video to it using Jim's old movie with the Shelby in the desert. The video disappeared, not sure why.
man i thought i had lost this album but now ive found new life again n the tune of sum dupped out remixes!!!!!! real dub thank lordy! how mercy !!!!!!!
We encourage all things Doors & Morrisson, anytime, any place, anyhow, we want the world and we want it! Great work, great mash up/remix/bricolage: Christ was among Thieves!
Mixed feelings for this one.....Yes Jim's vocals were subdued but then again it fit's with this song and T.C interpretation of it......At the same time the Doors especially Jim Morrison were very radical in that time period so I think he would approve of the bastard way this was done.
Thievery Corporation is not crappy music. Not compared to some of this other shit on the radio. I love the doors and I love TC... I am a little disappointed in this mix, I was expecting something different but it isn't terrible. I get it if you love the original but don't judge thievery based on this one song. The cosmic game is a psychedelic journey very much like "The End" -- it is just modern and electronic but still good nonetheless. Not as bad as daft punk.
@dubtat I think he would actually dig it. There's an interview somewhere on youtube where he actually predicts electronic music. I can hear in Thievery Corps catalog that they were heavily influenced by the Doors.
Nice version!!!
Thievery Coporation's 2006 remix of the Doors' 1967 song "Strange Days." ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tNRdIUn16vE.html Kudos to Eric Hilton and Rob Garcia for this update on a Doors classic!
