Never Tire of Them Seeing Also Some of These old Photos Brings Me Back to That Time I Grew up in Such A Different Planet Then Those Times Such A Simple Age
I just love it when I'm talking to someone about music and I mention the Doors. Nine times out of ten they blurt out "Oh yeah! I love Jim Morrison!!" That band wasn't all about Jim. A lot of people act like he was the only one with talent.
Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek had true genius. and as a drummer I always have underestimated John Densmore. Drummers are for bands and Densmore was for The Doors.
What a band! They are my favorite American band, no disrespect to the Deadheads. I always feel a sublime uneasiness when I listen, even though I've heard every song, some to the point that I can no longer listen. The only other band that I feel this with is Pink Floyd. Even though these two bands are very different they are like two actors palying the same role. Both had seminal first albums in '67. Both a singer/songwriter extraordinaire, both used primal screams, both LSD bands, crispy jams.
One of the greatest bands OF ALL TIME,from the first few notes almost every song they did would grab and hold you ,there were no throw away songs on their albums!
Simply put the DOORS are the most unique band ever to put music to paper. What they created was a sound that was and is incomparable. The persona, aura and poetry of Jim and the under-rated musical talents of Ray, John and Robbie are something that bands of today have no idea of how to recreate. Reviews aside, I totally enjoy the music, lyrics and feeling of the music. Nothing will ever come close to the perfection of the DOORS.
plz people stop arguing about what song of the doors is the best... When I listen to any of their songs im like this is the best than when play another than that one is the best... You dont have to decide which one is the best, they are all THE BEST!!!
People shouldn't forget that The Doors weren't just about Jim Morrison... What about Ray, John and Robby? I love Doors and I always will. And now if you excuse me I'm gonna dance slowly across my room, beacuse I can't help myself, I adore this song so much..
This was on the flip-side of "Wishful Sinful" 45 rpm single. Didn't make it on the album "The Soft Parade" but was released in 1972 on a double greatest hits album called "Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine"
I fell in love with The Doors as a 10-year-old in 1967. I never understood how this song appeared on Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine, but none of the previous albums. At least I guessed right based on the horns and other orchestration that it was from Soft Parade sessions.
I think its cause even 45 years ago record companies were pushing for the commercial hit over artistic content, the two songs that made it to the album were probably seen as potential singles.
I first heard this song as a 'bonus track' on a compilation called "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine" in 1974. I was ten and as I got older and could afford to buy records my Door's collection was the first one completed but I couldn't find this song. The original record I had was long gone and I 'bonus track' meant they had extra room for songs. Soft Parade has some not so great songs and I am with you, wondering why this was left off the album.
I was talking to this kid who I have chemistry with and he says, "I don't like the Doors, I don't get them. And I hate that fucking synthesizer solo." I then gave him a small rant about the introspective meaning of the lyrics and how they've impacted my life. Not to mention the fact that Ray is the reason I took up piano. I just can't be friends with people who think of music as pretty noise instead of emotion, art, and philosophy expressed in many ways.
yeahhh i dont see kids liking the doors, i feel like that you need to have lived a little to get the songs. Maybe a few kids like it because of melody and etc, but lyrics are too complex
@celebrant9 - I love your P.S. note under the song!! Go you!! I agree 100% The Doors are simply magnificent and the soundtrack to my life. Thank you for posting this song..I love it :)
You folks bring up sone really well thought out points. I appreciate your perspectives. I figured it must have been a marketing thing. And ultimately, who cares, I still have my handy dandy 45 adaptor. ;-)
I think because of weird scenes inside the gold mine a double album maybe it was just a filler but anyhoo I love that song something you'd never hear on FM they would rather play stairway to heaven or dream on or all the other stuff that we have heard a million times this is why corporate radio sucks stick to the left side of the dial
tengo 18 años, desde los 13 escucho a the doors, y ahora en la mañana, escuche esta cancion, y me gusto demasiado:), aun hay jovenes como yo que saben guiarse por la buena musica, la verdadera musica:D
This piece was originally to be put in the soft parade album, but for whatever reason, wasn't.(notice the horns ) great song,as for all their tunes...........
One of my favourite doors songs! When music was real....you could feel it and believe it....there’s nothing you can say about today’s manufactured bull****
really? i like listening to it on a nice sunny afternoon in the fall when its just real nice out after smokin a bowl haha idk it just always has struck me as that type of song
@hendrixnut64 Yeah, must be included on one of the newer CDs. It was never on any of the early CDs (I bought The Door's CDs as soon as they became available in the '80s). I first heard this on Weird Scenes Inside the Goldmine too, on LP.
I'm afraid they do! You do realize I'm a big fan of this band- these guys practically introduced me to rock- but they too are humans after all. Ray proved it two days ago...
@whiteclaudia9 Exactly. I think Jim was a genius. However, Ray, Robbie and John have to be the most underrated musicians. The four of them together was indeed magical.
It ended up as a bonus track on the 40th anniversary mixes of the album. Soft Parade was the album that benefited the most from the remixes in my opinion
@beminomusic The only cassette tape this could have been found on was the now out of print "Weird Scenes Inside the Gold Mine", short of someone making a dub of the B-side of "Wishful Sinful" 45.
@urmydarkstar Of course, that's without a doubt. I was just trying to say that Ray, John and Robby are also unique and even though they're not as genuis as Jim was they definitely deserve a huge admiration. Even if it should because of keeping Jim alive...
