A lot of old WW2 planes had the blade-turn ability but they never thought to use it as reverse thrust; it was more there for enhancing performance and slightly improving speed and turn time. Since older piston planes were mostly (but not all) taildraggers, reverse thrust would've made them tip right over.
Henri Giraud (the guy the airport is named after) is actually the first man to ever land a fixed-winged aircraft on the top of the Mont Blanc (highest peak in Europe). Choosing this particular altiport is particularly befitting for what you were trying to achieve.
Man, you really hate those radial engines don't ya? I mean, I think the real reason it wants you to have 3,500ft of runway is probably because it wants you to not destroy you're engines in the process. I notice on approach you were juggling the power up and down a lot, as you would in a jet or GA aircraft, that's a no go in a big radial, you want to set a constant power setting and leave it alone. In the DC-6 you actually raise and lower flaps to keep you on the glide path, set 100 BMEP torque, and with that flaps 40 should give you the right descent profile to follow the glide path, if you drop below, bring flaps up to 30, if you get high drop em to 50, then at about 100-200ft you drop flap 50 and over the numbers idle the power. On takeoff it looked like you probably went waaaaaay over permissible manifold pressure (though I'm not certain) curious if you were using water injection?
i got lucky because i saw the airbus beluga XL here in norway. At Sola airport. It did multiple touch and goes. I guess some pilotes were training even thoe it is a internasjonal airport...
My grandfather told me once that he got to control one of these during a college experience, but it was so long ago he couldn’t remember the designation for the plane, so I had to go through all the planes designated DC- and show him pictures until we got to the DC-6
A318: I have the best stopping performance B737: well okay B787: no, I can land in 35,500 airports Piper: where autopilot 😪 DC6: I CAN LAND EVERYWHERE AND I'M THE BIGGEST PLANE TO LAND EVERYWHERE GET NOOBED
Am I the only one who is more interested about the sailor ship on the tarmac/parking area? It was also in the live stream where he struggled with engine #3. :D
5:50 Swiss001: Reads out thousands of problems: Left gear Overrun, Grass touchdown, Reverse thrust not working, Hard landing Later also Swiss001: So, we landed with no problems at all
Hey guys today im making a review on his computer my first thoughts is that a potato like literally buy anew computer your computer its obviously every time you try to launch the game you need to launch like 30 time for one hour and for all that effort you start making video of a plane your a good youtuber and i have no problem but im not the only one that know that every time you launch microsoft flight simulator it says you computer doesnt meat with the minimal requierment
