The Downfall of Fortnite Live Events. 

EXACTLY my reasoning what sypher said. These live events should be something you watch, not something you contribute to.

The Chapter 3 Season 4 Event wasn’t just bad, it also made no sense, a complete disappointment. The Herald was supposed to be incredibly powerful, dangerous, and scary, but then they just decided to kill her within the first cutscenes, like it was nothing. There was no struggle, no danger, no fear, she died just like that.

Does anyone else agree that part of why the events feel a lot more lackluster now is because a lot of it gets leaked? Like I remember back in chapter 1 that no one knew what was going to happen, but for the chrome event I felt like a majority of it got leaked a week or two before.

Yeah, I was at the rocket launch event playing with a friend completely unaware what it was. My friend was excited about it though. It was magical. I took a break from Fortnite but than one of my friends came back too it so I joined him for the end of chapter 3 event… it was really poor, not exciting and not magical. I miss the old mini events like the cube spawning, barely anyone knew about it and the people who saw it will never forget it.

The Fracture event makes the Ice King event look like a masterpiece

Honestly the Galactus event is pretty slept on, the fact he could see Galactus get closer and closer every day and that they even used Galactus to begin with was pretty exciting. The event was pretty awesome too with the illusion we needed to save the island

Fortnite should make an event where how the player do in the challenge effects the outcome of the map.

How Fracture should of gone: We fight the Herald for 5 minutes until we get fully chromed. Cutscene for 5 minutes: The Herald is about to release the Nothing onto reality zero until she gets stuck in the reality tree (related to Bushranger quest). All the sudden Midas has arrived with a de-chromify machine he's been working on, un-chroming everyone including us and the seven. Gameplay: Next we run away from the spreading chrome before it consumes us again. We run to Chonker's speedway where Jones and AIME are waiting in the blimp. Cutscene: We enter the blimp, strap ourselves into our seats and evacuate the loop using Jones' loop breaker, until the Herald gets bigger, breaks free and starts chroming the blimp. The Hearld is about to release the nothing, the Zero Point is going to be chromed and we are going to be part of it until Midas sacrifices himself by turning the blimp gold, then he jumps off back to the chromed island and defeats the Herald by bringing the Devourer back to life. As The Devourer blast its ray onto the Herald, the tornadoes rip out a chunk of the island which ends up hitting the blimp (we survive, the others don't), the seven and Jones get rifted away, and reality zero explodes into smithereens. Then we spend the 5 minutes dodging pieces of the island as the zero point begins reforging itself. The last 10 minutes is us reforging the island with new pieces coming every minute and Paradigm activating Zero Fusion to bring the island back together. Is this the type of event we should have got? I will say that the interactive events pretty quickly feel empty because you can't lose. The end result of the event wouldn't make any sense if you lose, so it doesn't let you. There's probably things they could do that would make it feel a lot better. If they insist on doing combat like interactivity, then they should do events that you can repeat and winning advances a goal, while losing doesn't. Like if collision was a LTM for the last two weeks and you had to fight back against the IO in several missions. Maybe to try to take back control of areas of the island? Then a live event at the end could've been "Paradigm" coming in with the mecha to destroy the Collider before it goes off. I don't know how to save Fracture. I was just disappointed because I didn't get a chance to see the Chapter 3 island again. I hadn't played for a few days, so I thought I'd see it in the event. Instead it was destroyed in a cutscene and the last thing I saw during that chapter was the Fracture creative map. I didn't even get to complete everything in that map due to how confusing it all was. I think there was 2-3 little cutscene videos of past events I never got to experience.

The Travis Scott event is still the biggest event in Fortnite history imo. That event was news everywhere. The event even transcended Fortnite itself, people who never played or even heard about Fortnite ever tuned for the event.

The chapter 1 events hold such a special place in my memories dude. To me, nothing will ever compare. That magical feeling when gaming changed forever.

Hopefully this end event to chapter 5 hopefully gives us that old event vibe

Collision was my first event I experienced (I started chapter 3 season 2) so that has a special place in my heart, I loved Collision so much. Fracture was also my first end of chapter event and I also personally thoroughly enjoyed it

I agree they gotta keep us on the map where we control where we go in the events like the Travis scott event I'm hoping the next event is the best 😃

The season 7 ice storm event was under appreciated, as that was not the originally planned event. But since they had to remove the Sword, they have to shift the lore of Season 7 entirely.

They need to have a mix of interactive and spectical events along with events that aren't extremely predictable

C2S7s event was their best implementation of a "playable" event. It was guided, but still offered loads of things to do and never tried to trick you into thinking you were doing more than you actually were. The closest it got was the NPC clones that the cube killed, but thats a valid exception IMO, as you couldn't just have this super-dangerous force be unable to kill a single person in a large crowd, but you also can't kill actual players as that would ruin the event for them. The events where we were meant to be "fighting" back (C2S4, C2S8, and to some extent C3S2) dont work, as you dont actually have any agency over whats happening. Whether you help or just do nothing, the result is the same

the thing with the skyfire event is that at the end you saw the cubes fall and destroy multiple pois and then the next season comes and all of em were still there

I was playing a team gamemode, maybe Team Rumble but i don’t think it was invented yet, when Kevin made the first Anti Gravity zone. It was funny when everyone started jumping in it.

Collision wasn’t bad at all, I did like it. Fracture was horrible, no question, I liked chapter 2 end event it was good, had the right amount of interactive aspects. And a small continuation to continue next chapter which I seriously enjoyed. And chapter one events were very very good, besides Ice king, cube events were okay spread around overtime in short burst, and they didn’t tell us about the lake one so I missed out on it, overall I think they should keep looking at chapter 2 end event because it was a perfect mix in my opinion. With the interactive aspects and cutscenes story and continuation etc, though it was leaked.

They should do a event that has different endings if they decide to do more shooting type events in my opinion so it could me more exciting and experience what others don't have at all while you have something the rest don't have and it would be interesting.

Paid promotions ruined the game and giving up on the original Fortnite storyline was the biggest loss

Make the events have alternate endings. If everyone playing chooses to do one thing, the story follows that and if we choose the other it goes in a different direction. Let us have influence

As somebody who actually really liked Fracture i can still say that it was the worst event Fortnite has done, that sense of something bigger then you as stuff went down around you is so magical and fun but Fracture was just goofy mini game fun with your friends and other random people, which i enjoyed, but is still the worst one they've done it really is quite funny that the best events were the one's with the least interactivity XD

They should do an event where you slowly get the old graphics, health bar and everything. I think that would hype people up so much and a new setting could be implemented to have season one graphics and others things. (Sorry if my english is bad it isn't my firts language)

We haven’t a good live event in a long while. We need something like Kevin the cube again. Or Monster vs Robot because everyone was hyped for those events

Comparison is a thief of joy. But how does no one remember in season 6 when u could see polar peak coming to the island near lucky landing although ik its not an event but it was cool with ppl glitching onto it early and stuff

Honestly i feel like what sypher said was true. That the live events should be more watching and less interacting, however, i think more watching and maybe a little bit of interacting could also be nice.

The after math of the events should also reflect more on the map. Like the monster dead in the middle of the map

Season 5 is my favourite of all time. I spent so long just bouncing on the lake with shopping carts in playground. It was so fun!

I don't think there's been a downfall, IMO, the last live event was bad, but up until then it was a crescendo imo, each event getting better and better, next event is definetly gonna get epic back on the streak

Perspective is very important so when u play a cut scene in the middle of an event ...it just breaks the magic like in the end 2.0 just for promoting the Rock... When we experience an event it should be us watching an event...not just shooting random target ...also playing the event in normal battle royale is much more authentic than another playlist LTM... Cause the place where we interact live and fight daily is where the change is supposed to happen..

I'm going to disagree with the tone T5G takes for the Chapter 2 events. The ones he's down on are all full of lore. It's not supposed to be just trying to top the previous event. I really liked Zero Crisis Finale because of the solo event that was replayable. Although I think the replayability is because so many people bugged out on the first load and didn't get to experience it, so Epic turned it into a playlist for a couple weeks. He kind of acts like the concerts were put together to "make up" for a bad event but that's kind of a dumb take. Those were most likely planned for months or even over a year before that event even happened. There were leaks of codenames of what turned out to be the Kid Laroi thing over a year before anyone could play it.

I feel that the fracture event was alright because it was more of a restart for Fortnite literally the first trailer for chapter 4 was called a new beginning and sure nothing much happened in the event but visually it looked pretty nice gameplay wise it was not that great but it is better than the Ice king event.

the first 6 seasons were events that happened one after the Other: connected somehow Like the meteor created poprocks> that fueled the rocket> the rocket made the rift> the rift made the cube> the cube floated loot lake. After that ice king and prisoner came outta nowhere, dispite it having no connection to season 1-6 it was still good cause 7-8 has that ice vs fire vibe going on it just descended after that, the events werent connected much at all like that chapter 2 introduced the IO(In the future) but became stale after my boy midas "died"

its a tough balance with this interactive stuff. they have players like sypher all the way down to 10 year olds. the point and shoot stuff makes it easy for kids but really boring for everyone else. just do a way with that and just make stuff that looks cool. the whole chrome thing had so much potential. the harold could command this stuff to turn anything into anything. Im really bitter over that event, what with all of the hype other events got the first one i experienced was the worst yet... I really hope they do something with the chrome again, not soon, but eventually. because there's no way that stuff cant be used for some crazy stuff.

personally since I like to pay attention to all the lore details it makes me enjoy the events more now then I did before, that's part of why I love skyfire so much also for me at least music plays a big part in the events but back to my main point, I actually quite liked fracture because I just thought it was unique and don't mind the mini game part but yeah it would of been cool to actually fight the herald but it was kinda obvious everything was just gonna go boom bc of how it was set up but I guess I just am weird like that but for me I love every event mainly for the lore. anyway that's enough from me, I hope yall have a great day/night :)

I feel like almost no one remembers the whole thing in Season 8 where we had to move those runes to the one play before the Unvaulting event

If it is a mini game type of event I think they should have 2 outcomes ready. It seems overwhelming making 2 different things like a map or lootpool, but I bet that'd work for the mini game type events. But I think they should go back to spectacle events all together

I feel like us interacting with the map and event and not the event interacting with the map is a downside overall, also in my opinion I have a major hatred to the characters being able to talk, it ruins the fact that we are all mute, it really doesn't make sense. And one final thing is that once the event is over, the season shouldn't end there, it should put us back onto the map with the destruction and excitement for the rest of the match after the event. Anyway all my opinion, but I do hope that the next event will be much better, like the older ones.

Just saying, I’m pretty sure Epic is going to move away from events and put more of their resources towards other projects that will benefit them. Not only was Fracture outsourced by other Devs to work on while they were putting together UEFN but Live Events in general is like watching a Bonfire of money unfold. I think we’ll be fine with less events in due time.

The end event was the last time me and my friend group played together i streamed and will watch it time to time to look back on the good memories it’s crazy how time flies

I agree with all of this. I have been wanting a good live event and it just hasn't happened. I feel like epic is now getting desperate by adding creative 2.0 witch dont get me wrong is good but i just feel the plat has fallen apart.

I seriously don’t know how we went from the Robot event to the worst event of all time with the Fractured event, in less than 7 months 🤦🏼 I used to think the events got better and better, but god… I don’t know if it was the misunderstanding from Epic about the fans wanting more involvement, or they were just lazy. But going from the best event basically ever, to this??? Come on man… Really hope the next one is better, cause that was so not worth it…

I think that Epic should make an event with multiple different outcomes I wouldn't mind another point and shoot type event if there were multiple outcomes. For example if we don't kill this boss the boss wins and something bad happens to the map vice vers.

I wish, except for chapter ending events, we got to play in the aftermath for a week or so afterwards before the new season like the old events. Since the Device, all we’ve gotten were to be continued events, which I think kind of soured the experience a little bit

I’m my opinion the end of chapter 2 was the best event. The story of it was build up literally since the story began, the cubes and the IO. I’m a fan of the fortnite story and the event also had a good mix of gameplay and quality. In the chapter 3 finale I hated the way they literally just destroyed the island we were on for the last 3 years and all of the story built up on it for some mid, poor quality event that felt as if it was made in creative

i think all of the old events werent the best to, yeah they are great but it might just be the fact that they are clouded with nostalgia

I also believe that there should be an event at the end of every season where it ends with a downtime leading into the next season. I would prefer this as it makes you wonder what the effects of the live event was and you would see these effects in the next season

And especially at 6:34 that part was just so truly heart touching words can not describe the series of emotions I felt. I absolutely loved the climax it had insanely excellent detail. Oh and we can’t forget the conclusion. The conclusion was the greatest and saddest conclusion I have ever seen better than any of the books I have read. Thank you so much for creating this absolute masterpiece. This is essentially the most important masterpiece of film history. It is a tragedy that this, it can’t be called a film, but a transcendent emotional experience, will be inaccessible for most. It beautifully encapsulates the human struggle to its basics; suffering, pleasure, faith, despair. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. Second life used to do live events constantly but nothing as good as the Travis Scott/marshmallow concert. I hope Fortnite doesn’t stop doing them because it really does strengthen a community.
